We have just returned from a week at Ashe Farm. The site was easy to find and within easy reach of the M5.
The toilet block was always clean, with free hot powerful showers and even a free hairdryer. The washing up area was undercover and once more had plenty of hot water. There was a laundry area, but we didn't use this. There is no shop on site, but the petrol station (about 1 mile away) had most essentials. We only once saw the owner, but if there was a problem it was quickly sorted.
On arrival you either look for your name on a plot, if you have pre-booked, or set up where ever you want. We paid £5 per person and £2 for EHU.
The pub at the end of the road (The Nags Head) was friendly and served good reasonably priced food.
The only problem we had was the barking of hounds from a nearby farm at about 5. 30 most mornings.

Ashe Farm is located about two miles east of M5 Junction 25: very convenient for Taunton, the Quantock hills and the Somerset coast (Minehead, Watchet, Dunster etc). The site is very easy to find (east on the A358 for 2 miles then turn right at the Nags Head - more on this later).
This is a mid sized site with two main fields. Most pitches have an electric hookup available, some have hardstandings for caravans/mobile homes, water points are plentiful enough.
Pitches are fairly informal (i.e not strictly marked out - except by hookup points I suppose) and generous in size by any standards- we have a Montana 6 with front awning (think small aircraft hanger) and still had plenty of room in front of the tent for our baby to have a good crawl around and plenty of room at the side to park the car and to set the chairs and table up.
Toilet and shower facilities at the site seem perfectly adequate for the number of pitches (site was pretty full during our stay but we didn't have to queue once in the three days we were there), these were kept very clean and well stocked throughout our stay. There is also a parent and baby room, which doubles as a disabled toilet/shower room. Washing up space is plentiful enough and there are laundry facilities. In the second field there is an adventure playground for kids. There is also plenty of open space for games.
OK obvious stuff over with, what's it like to stay here?
Well the answer is that this is a really lovely site - informal, friendly, quiet, spacious, well kept and very reasonably priced (our pitch was £12. 00 per night for a tent with two adults and a baby including electricity in peak season - bargain or what). Fees are collected at about 10AM in the morning by a very friendly, chatty lady who is obviously more interested in you and the comfort of your stay than she is in the cash she's collecting. There's even a nice pub at the end of the lane (The Nag's Head), which serves good food and I nice range of good ale.
I can happily recommend this site unreservedly to anyone who wishes to explore Somerset or to anyone wishing to break up a longer journey to Devon or Cornwall.

I have been meaning to write a review about this site for ages.
We have been using this site for over three years and go about 3 to 4 times a year either on our own or with a few friends.
Great site within easy reach of the M5 Taunton junction.
There are two fields upper and lower with both having electric hook-up. The toilets are situated in the top field and are always clean and tidy and very modern with nice showers. Within this block is washing up facilities, information room, and fridge freezer.
There is a small play area outside the toilet block with swings and an old farm tractor.
The pitches are of a generous size, our tent is 8m x 10m with a large porch and we have never had a problem of being too close to the next tent.
The owners are lovely and come round in the mornings to collect rent. You can phone and pre-book your pitch which will have a board with your name on when you arrive so no need to go to reception.
Dogs are welcome with a nice area around the site to walk them.
Taunton is only 15 mins away with a large Sainsbury’s just off the motorway and there is a garage shop about half a mile away which sells the essentials needed for camping.
There is also a pub at the end of the lane to which you can walk and has a great range of food and drink.
We have been camping for five years and this is by far the best value for money site we have come across.
We would recommend this site to all, families and couples.

What a beautiful chilled out site.
I had my reservations about going here. For 'informal' I read 'do whatever you like, no matter how anti social. But don't bother the owners!'
And it is true, I did wonder what would happen if a group of asbo types turned up. But they didn't and we had an amazing time.
Bottom field far from toilet block. But spacious and flat and surrounded by golden cornfields. Wide pitches and certainly NO overcrowding.
Some people do exercise their dogs on the bottom field, which is annoying. But there was no evidence of dog waste.
I loved the noise of the hunting hounds and I thought it just emphasised the fact you were in the country side!
Showers clean, owners friendly.
Great access to the Quantocks.
All in all a lovely, peaceful site!

We used this site as a stopover on the way to cornwall and was not disappointed,
Basically you just turn up and pitch where you want,
We opted for the lower field that had football posts [which kept my son happy]
The showers were clean and modern as was the potwash and toilets,
The pub at the end of the road do good meals [ideal if you don't want to cook on your stopover] however it stops serving food at 9pm, it is called the nags head.
The lady comes round the following morning to collect the pitch fees,
We will be using this site again!

This campsite was lovely, just so peaceful.
The free showers were hot and powerful and the toilet block was clean. We didn't use the playground facilities.
There was plenty of space to pitch where you like and the price was very reasonable.
There was a pub at the end of the road that looked very nice, but we didn't sample the wares.
Very convenient for the M5, we didn't notice any road noise at all. Occasionally I could hear the hunting hounds but it wasn't obtrusive or often.
We didn't see the owners other than to pay on the Saturday morning but they seemed pleasant.

Just returned from 5 days at this lovely site. Very well maintained, but relaxed with very good facilities including loos/showers/fridge/laundry and very friendly owners who wander round regularly, and collect fees in the mornings. We were in the top field, so close to loos and 2 swings & tractor for children to play on. We were on the end of a run of pitches on hardstand and had lots of space. If you want to use the washing machine/dryer just buy a token from the owners on their daily round. Showers are free, with good hot water and pressure if you go early am/ late pm.
If you're in the bottom field it's a bit of a walk to the facilities, so be prepared for that! Even saw some people drive up to the loo block.
Pub a short walk down the road did good food, even a decent kids' menu and fab proper draught cider, served up with a warm welcome.
Recommend this one to all - especially if you're those laid-back, smiley chatty campers that we encountered there! We will definitely be going back.

This is a lovely campsite and great value for money, we were in a tent in the large field away from the toilet/shower block and found that even though there were quite a few other campers, it was really quiet. We were told by others that they have never seen it really busy because there is so much space. When you turn up you can just drive round and pick a spot.
Showers and toilets kept very clean with laundry room etc. It has a little play area with some swings in the middle of the field and other play things for kids by the toilet block and it was great to see the kids playing and having fun.
For cyclists is is well situated for cycling around the lovely quiet country lanes and there is some good off road routes around the Blackdown Hills nearby. The very friendly Nags Head pub just a few minutes walk away does some good reasonably priced food. Taunton is just a short drive away as well. Didn't notice the traffic noise which was surprising as it was close to a busy A road.
A great campsite for kids as plenty of room to run or cycle around the field or play football. Take some ear plugs though, there is a kennels nearby and dogs were howling in the night but not enough to spoil our short time there as we would definitely come back !

We stayed in the static caravan this time and my daughter and family had the other. Last year we camped in one of the two fields. Fantastic place to stay.
Owners very friendly, facilities excellent, very clean toilet and shower block. Ideal situation as it is only 45 minutes to Lyme Regis or 45 minutes to Minehead. Supermarkets close at hand and only a short drive to Taunton.
Whether you stay in a tent or the static caravans the cost is excellent. Plus you can buy fresh eggs from the farm. Plenty of space between tents too.
My little grandaughter and grandson loved the chickens and goats. Lovely walks around the campsite.

This site was a really good one. With it being a farm I wasn't expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
After finally finding the site (it's difficult if you don't come in on the main road) we got there and were told to find our own pitch. Sometimes this is dubious because of people getting too close, but the site is so big that this would never be an issue.
The toilet block facilities were brilliant, nice and clean, and the staff we encountered were very pleasant. It's in a great location for exploring, and I'd definitely stay here again.
