Pleased to find the site had re-opened after the Covid-19 lockdown, my husband and I used it as an ideal base for cycling in the area. There are some hard-standings and some grass pitches, all gently sloping, with electricity available as well as one drinking water tap and one dump point. No washing up or laundry facilities, or WiFi internet, but plenty of space for children and dogs to run about on the lower field.
The two washroom cabins (each with a shower, WC and hand basin) were open to use but the owner explained that campers must keep them clean, absolving himself of this responsibility. A mop and a bucket of dirty water was provided. When we arrived on a Thursday (to join five caravans - which is the limit for a Club Certificated Site) we found the washrooms usable. On Friday the site filled up for the weekend with a total of 9 caravans, 5 motorhomes/campervans and 5 tents, with cars and several children. Of course, the inadequate and heavily used washrooms soon became sordid and we used our own. Pity the tent campers!
Given the cost of camping here, I suggest that the owner could pay a cleaner to come in when the site is busy – and why not designate one washroom each for Women and Men? I could not recommend staying here, especially during the Covid epidemic, until the washrooms are deep-cleaned regularly. Other sites we used on the same tour were cleaning two or three times a day!

Lovely site with excellent views to the Cleveland Hills.
Good base for the North York Moors.
Excellent shower!
We stayed during Storm Denis, so it was a windy stay.

Overnight stop as had to be in Middlesbrough for an appointment. Spoke with owner when booking and he said he wasn’t strict about arrival/departure times and he would collect fee from us either that night or following morning. He was friendly and gave useful advice about getting to the site ignoring satnav and very narrow lanes.
Site itself was well laid out with good views of the nearby Cleveland Hills. Toilet block/shower was good.
Highlight was watching a barn owl hunting over the neighbouring fields.
Would stay here again.

Nice quiet campsite with very large pitches and stunning views. The two new bathrooms are very nice. Very friendly owners.
North yorkshire moors are beautiful. And don't forget the owls that can be spotted on the campsite!

Stumbled across this site with a Google search, owner obliging and helpful with directions.
Had the place practically to ourselves with stunning views of hills and fields all around with sheep and cattle.
The only noise were the small hedgerow birds, not a hint of vehicle noise. Two lovely modern and spotless shower/loo units.
Drove up to Lordstones and looked down at our van below, if you like quiet, this is your place. Loved it

A beautiful location, a hidden gem surrounded by hills, moors and farms idyllic. Yet, within minutes villages, with their pubs and restaurants, are within reach and Stokesley is less than 5 minutes away.
The Yorkshire moors are minutes away. It is rare to find such a beautiful spot complete with power supply, water, and waste facilities run by a very friendly owner, a true gentleman.
We will be returning that's for sure.

This is one of our very favourite caravan sites. We have been visiting here on a regular basis since discovering this site a few years ago. Yes its just a field with no amenities, but we have our own in our caravan.
The view, the wildlife, the peace and quiet and dark skies are just amazing. Stokesley a lovely market town is within walking distance. About 40 mins. Quiet roads for cycling. Plenty of walking. We just love it.
Lovely friendly owner and good value at £14 per night.

Well this is a great little site. It's in a open field but off main road. The grass was cut. No toilets or showers but it's only £12 a night with ehu.
We had 2 nights here. On the other side of the field there was a party going on - someone's birthday - they had a caravan and 2 large tents up and music till about 1am but did not bother us at all.
If it's windy like it was for us you would need to turn the van around as the awning was all over the place but some strong pegs and you will be fine.
If the owner does not come the night before he will call in the morning and collect rent.

Already been here twice this year, going back this week and again at bank holiday. The site is nice and level which, as recent converts from a caravan to motorhome, we find a boon. The field is a generous size, plenty of room, and the view over open fields to the Cleveland Hills is simply fantastic.
You can just sit for hours watching the light changes on the gorgeous scenery. Good toilet disposal, drinking water and plenty of EHU points. As other reviewers have mentioned the owner is a perfect site owner. He keeps the grass immaculately mown with a super tech mower which mulches the grass into oblivion: no treading into the van!
There are a few nice pubs nearby: we like the Black Swan along the road at Kirkby, and the food at the pub in Faceby is excellent. The pub in Carlton is OK for a pint but the so-called Thai food is basic Chinese and over priced. Go into Stokesley to Y Thai.
Stokesley is an attractive market town, the Indian restaurant is first rate and the White Swan has its own micro brewery and I recommend their ales. Nice landlord and bar staff too.
Go up to Lord Stones Cafe about three miles away. The walks from the cafe have incredible views and dogs just love walking on the springy grass paths.
This is not a fashionable or well known area but it has a LOT to offer. If this site were in the Dales it would be permanently booked up. We paid £12 a night with EHU, very fair price for such a beautifully kept place.
