Fabulous site with an upmarket feel to it! Beautiful grounds, immaculately kept. Very large grass area for the children to play ball games. Decent size pitches although the tent pitches are a fair walk from the shower block. We paid extra to have a caravan pitch for our tent and it was well worth it. The swimming pool complex was lovely although at busy times we had to wait to go in as they only allowed a certain number in at a time. The restaurant, bar and family room were all modern and well decorated with a 'center parcs' feel to them. The restaurant also does take-away food which is a good idea if you don't want to pay for drinks. We took our bikes and cycled straight from the site into the forest on a marked trail which was wonderful. There were picnic areas on the way round to stop for a drink and a rest! Don't miss going to Symonds Yat. We started at the pub walking along the riverbank for about 1/2 a mile, then crossing the bridge, walking back along the opposite riverbank and crossing the river by the ferry, which is literally a man from the pub pulling the boat along a rope! The kids loved it! Would highly recommend this site and will be going back in the near future.

A fantastic site in the heart of the Forest Of Dean with superb facilities for all the family. A play area for the smaller kiddies, a large indoor swimming pool for the whole family, a spa, sauna and steam room, gym, beauty salon, restaurant and bar and to top it all evening entertainment. My kids thought it was fantastic and can't wait to go again. The staff on site were helpful and friendly. Two ample shower blocks. Lots of space for outdoor games and woodland to explore. Ideal for those who like cycling and walking. Loads nearby to do and plenty of pubs. Gloucester, Monmouth and Ross on Wye nearby and the town of Lydney boasts several take aways, a supermarket etc. It is well worth joining the CSMA to take great advantage of this site and we will definitely add this site to our list of favourites and are definitely planning another visit soon.

One of the most friendly sites Ive been to. The pitches are well set out and all of the staff on site were really helpful. The pool complex is superb. Whitemead is surrounded by loads of interesting attractions most of which open in March. Such as a working collery, steam railway & Puzzle Wood. There are 2 pubs in the village both of which are really nice. A place for walkers to see is the Devils Chapel which can be seen just off a public footpath at the top end of Lydney Park estate just below whitecroft. Its on private land , so stick to the path. Tolkien is supposedly to have visited this and got some of his ideas for the Hobitt. Join the CSMA & enjoy a visit there.

Summer 2003 Superb site site in the middle of the Forest of Dean, feature indoor pool, sauna, steam room complex and big clubhouse. Great for activity types and for touring, my childrens favourite site, very friendly. Co-Op & Tescos at Lydney a short drive away so no need to worry about food, the restaurant on site is well priced and excellent too.
The site is a CSMA site and is booked up months in advance.
