Just stayed for a long weekend at south lea-this was our second visit - we last stopped 2 weeks ago & we were so impressed we went back again! Nothing is too much trouble for Louise who is friendly & very helpful. The pitchers are well spaced, will situated & very flat. The whole site is well organised & well suited to quiet breaks as a couple or family breaks. The toilet block is the best I have ever seen on a site with lots of hot water. I would recommend this site to anyone-we will be back there in a couple of weeks.

What a nice site! The best sanitair on our holiday and a good pitch near to the children-play area. The bus to York stops on request at the front of the campsite for a nice day out. In Pocklington you can get everything you want. Very friendly owners. Only critics: Noise of the main roads nearby.

Well what can I say? The pitch was perfect, the owners extremely friendly, the toilets were spotless, the campsite was quiet, the information in 'the hut' was bountiful. The only downer was the weather which couldn't be helped. We don't have a dog but the dog walk was so clean that we were able to walk round it without any fear of any mess. We will definitely be returning and very soon! We only visited Pocklington on the way home (Recommend The Feathers for their carvery!) I am looking forward to coming back and exploring the shops!

I can sum this site up all in one word, perfect. Level, clean, friendly, helpful owners, great dog area, with bins for cleaning up after your dog. Beautiful area, great village. If I had to find something to pick, the park could do with a makeover. Other than that great site will return.

What a wonderful site. The owners were so friendly and helpful and the site was marvellously clean. It wasn't very busy so there were no queues in the spotless toilet blocks. We were offered a number of pitches to be close to our friends and the owners provided us with an extension cable free of charge. They were hand rearing 2 lambs and brought them to our tent for our daughter to see and stroke. The play area is adequate. Beverley is close by with a lovely shopping area and many old fashioned and historic pubs. Stamford Bridge is worth a visit although the actual bridge is closed due to road works. As other reviewers have mentioned, despite its proximity to a main road this does not cause any problems.

I can only agree with all the other comments. This is really one of the nicest, prettiest, safest sites we have stayed on. We pitched on the play park and was great to keep an eye on the kids. Immaculate toilets, showers, etc. Very reasonable rates. Canny little pub just out of site entrance, although we appeared to be the only ones in it. Great location, ideal for york, beverley, etc. Will definitely return.y

A wonderful weekend, although cold! The site was clean, flat, well drained and we had loads of space to choose our pitch. The toilets were spotless and a supply of books in the office for loan was enough to keep me happy. We visited the coast, Malton & Thirsk easily from the site so it was a good area. Countryside is marvellous anyway. Nearest pub was welcoming and warm! The food was wonderful the only meal we had but we visited every evening for a drink & read our papers in a comfy armchair. A short but dark walk back so take a torch.

We spent 3 nights at this site and must say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site owners were very friendly and helpful telling us about the surrounding area of York and the beaches which was useful as we hadn't had time to research the area beforehand. We were asked if we wanted to keep our unit on site on our departure date to allow and extra day exploring York which we were grateful for. Security on site is excellent with the issue of a card to open up a barrier (don't lose it though or it will cost you £10!). Toilets were clean, with free hot water, no queues and I frequently saw the owners cleaning them throughout the day. There was a very useful van visiting in the morning selling eggs, papers, milk. Good children's playing area which was frequently used. The pitches themselves were spirit level flat, soft ground and enough room. There is a road nearby and you can hear the traffic but you soon don't notice. Overall a very positive experience and if we were in the area again we would definitely use this site again.

We (2 adults, 3 children) spent 5 nights at South Lea over Easter and would recommend it highly. It's a beautiful, well-kept, flat park, with wonderfully helpful and friendly owners, Louise and Nick, who just can't do enough for you. They even offered us extra sleeping bags when we were FROZEN on our first night! We were pitched (by choice) on one of 3 pitches on the play area. There is a reception hut with lots of local information and a security barrier for which you need a pass. The owners live in a house in a field next door so are always on hand. The children's play area is huge and safe and children are asked to stop playing on it after dark. The toilet block is one of the cleanest I've seen, and Louise is in there regularly cleaning and checking it out. Showers are hot and the block is heated. The washing up area is clean and tidy, with 2 sinks, drainers and hot water. There is also a huge dog walk area, which we didn't use, but lots did. There is no shop, but a lady delivers milk, bread, papers etc. Each morning. You can hire gas barbecues for £6 per night including gas. The village of Pocklington is a 2 minute drive or a nice 10 minute stroll, and there are lots of lovely little shops, a Sainsburys, and a street market on Tuesdays. There are several pubs serving food too. 1 minute walk in the other direction takes you to another pub/motel, but we didn't eat there so I couldn't comment. The site is within easy distance of the coast - Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington - and we also visited Hull (The Deep) and Flamingo Land. It's a beautiful area with lots of little villages around, and about a 15 minute drive to York. The only downside I can think of is traffic noise, but to be honest, we were all so tired by bedtime, we hardly noticed it. We will definitely be visiting again.

We have just spent three days at South Lea. It was excellent, the reception from the owners who are very helpful. She gave some very good advice as we do not know the area. Whilst there we noticed how clean the showers and toilet block were and the whole site in general are well maintained. Facilities for dog walking are also handy as they kept away from the main site. There is a delivery of newspapers milk etc in the morning, which is handy. The owners are very well accommodating, we intend returning for a longer stay in the foreseeable future. We would like to thank them for a very enjoyable break.
