Just back from spending 3 days at South Lea. It now has new owners and all I can say is 'what a lovely lady' that now owns the park. We pitched our tent right on the edge of the play area which was great as we could sit and watch the kids playing and not have to worry about where they had wandered off to. It wasnt noisy here either as most of the children went back to their units around 9 o'clock at night. The actual play area could do with a bit of a revamp but my children were happy enough playing there.
They have a small paddock area near the owners house where you can pitch but there are no hook ups in that part but the other 72 pitches all have hook up points. The campsite was as usual extremely clean and well looked after. There was hardly any noise at night from other campers either which could have been down to the fact that it was extremely cold.
This is one of the nicest campsites we've stayed at in the last few years and are quite happily going back again for a week at Spring Bank. The toilet and shower blocks are always well looked after and very clean.
Pocklington itself is only a 5 minute car drive away and has a somerfield. Theres also plenty of pubs and places to eat. Theres a small market held on Tuesdays aswell. You can walk into town but theres no pavement for the first part of the way and the road is extremely busy so I wouldnt recommend walking with small children or pushchairs.

This was our first visit to this site and we were delighted. The site was full as it was Easter weekend but it was very clean, very quiet and ideal for all ages. it is very close to Pocklington town which has a choice of places to eat and a selection of shops. The children's play area on the site is ideal for young children and does not disturb people in their caravans. The Wolds is a lovely area for walking and driving. We will certainly return to this site.

New to caravans so this my first trip out in my new swift twin axle van. A little apprehensive not wanting to make any costly mistakes. The new owner Nick was in the reception when I arrived, told him I new to caravans and he offered to help me set up, took a long time with me explaining about the site and coupling up electrics and sorting water and waste pipes out. After that I spent 3 lovely days there. Very clean well run site. Nice town Pocklington plenty shops and places to eat. Hope all sites are as good as this one.(THANKS NICK FOR YOUR HELP)

A very secure site - It has a barrier that can only be opened by a swipe card! The first thing that you notice is how clean everything is. The toilets and showers are imaculate to say the least - whatever time you go there! The time we where there, it was very quiet. The owners are very helpful to say the least. I was very ill on the second night (to the extent of a local Doctor being called out!) The owners bent over backwards to help with anything.
I would recommend this site to all - We have three children and they loved it, and made many friends. We will be going there again before 2005 is out.

July 2005 DEFINATLEY THE BEST SITE WE VISITED THIS SUMMER! The toilets and showers were always spotlessly clean. Lovely big area for children to play safely. Brilliant position for sightseeing in Yorkshire, not far from York. Very reasonably priced for such a great campsite - will visit again.

August 2005 Just returned after spending the week at this lovely site, toilet's and shower block really clean and well looked after, plenty for the kids to do as well as the adults (had a few game's of boules on the pitch they have supplied) would use this camp again as it is near to the lovely little village of pocklington, plus near enough to Bridlington, York and Scarborough and Monkscross shopping centre for the lady's!! AA++ to the owners, thanks to them for a lovely site

July 2005 We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every minuite of it. The owner is very friendly and helpul, we asked for a specific pitch and he was most helpfl. South Lea has got the cleanest and nicest toilets I`ve ever seen. The pitches are very level and spacious. There`s a great playing field for the kids and a great sense of space all around noones crammed in. Prices are very good it was £12 a night including ehu. Pocklington is a 5 min drive away with lots of pubs, we ate in I think the name was the Three Horseshoes and the food was fab and good prices £7.50 for a 16oz T bone, husband said it was great. We also tried the Yorkway motel a 2 min walk from the campsite, we weren`t impressed, they weren`t very child friendly and not very welcoming.
We had a great stay at South Lea and look forward to visiting again.

June 2005 Just back from spending 4 days here. The owners John & Christine are really helpful and welcoming. The campsite is kept lovely and clean and is extremely flat which is perfect. The toilet and shower block are immaculately clean. There was a problem with the shower/toilets when we first got there and the owners opened up their own home for campers to use their facilities.
Really went out of their way to help and were constantly apologising for the facilities being out of order which was out of their control as a tree root had blocked the waste pipe.
Pocklington centre is a two minute car ride away and there is a market there on Tuesdays. Bridlington and York are around half an hour away. Really great campsite - we will be going back again.

September 2004 First class site would be happy to recommend to couples, singles and families that are looking for a quiet site with excellent toilet/shower facilities. Level site with lots of open space and a huge dog walk where dogs may be off the lead if under control. Short drive into the market town of Pocklington which has wide range of shops, restaurants and take away. Surrounding area very scenic with great walking. Local attractions include Castle Howard and Yorkshire Lavender - both worth a visit. Also handy for York (park n ride available) and coast

August 2004 This is a lovely site, and not at all expensive, it cost £10 per tent (inc 2 adults) per night and quid a kid on top. All showers and washing up water etc free!! the toilets and showers were spotless and it seemed as if someone had spent a few minutes thinking about how to make these facilities more convienent for campers eg there were hooks on the back of the shower doors and by the sinks and not just one useless hook either, there were lots, so you actually had somewhere to hang your clothes and your towel!! The owners even offer a free return lift from the nearby pub the Ship Inn.
The owners of this site make an effort to make you feel welcome and your stay enjoyable and it shows.
