We left it late to find a site for Easter weekend and managed to get a cancellation at South Lea. Louise was very helpful and friendly when making the booking and on arrival.
Great sized Hardstanding pitch just across from the football field which was perfect for our footy mad 7 year old who made a couple of friends. There was a small play park also but he didn't take much interest in that although plenty other children did.
The toilet block was spotlessly clean at all times, the only slight critism was the showers were not very powerful, it seem to take an age to wash & conditon my hair. My husband doesn't have this problem! The water however was plentiful and hot.
Everyone was friendly and the owners were always around to help and answer any questions. You can hear road noise but that didn't bother us in the slightest and certainly would not deter us from returning.
Pocklington village was a very short drive from the site and although on this occasion we didn't sample the pubs/restaurants they looked lovely. There was a Sainsburys and Aldi in the village too.
There is loads to do around and about - We spent a sunny day in Bridlington on the beach and another rainy day shopping at McArthur Glen and Monks Cross. We didn't got into York as we often visit there anyway but if you wanted to there are excellent park & ride facilities nearby.
We will definitely be visiting again.

Just back from this fantastic site. Unfortunately only stayed for two nights but somewhere we will definitely visit again. The site is spotlesss and probably one of the most level sites we have stayed on.
The toilet and shower facilities are great and the pitches are of a good size. The children's play area is of a good size with a Good area for ball games. The dog walk area is well thought out and a great addition. Everyone on the site was friendly with lots of annually sited vans.
The site staff where super friendly and do a great job of making sure you know where to go etc.
Plenty to see and do in the local area.

I have stayed here a number of times. It is well located, being about 20 minutes drive from York city centre. You can walk into Pocklington in about 15 minutes. Pocklington is a good sized small town, with a few pubs, bars and restaurants, banks, shops etc.
The site is well looked after. Grass kept neat, and the borders are attractive.
The toilet and shower block is very clean, and is heated. Always a nice treat in the cooler mornings.
South Lea is a quiet site - which suits us fine. Any entertainment and nightlife is easily accessible in Pocklington town.
The owners are really lovely people. Always willing to help out as and when necessary.
South Lea is a great small site. Highly recommended.

We visited this site on Easter Monday and stayed 4 nights, the toilet block was always clean with good showers, there was a large playing area for children with swings and climbing frames and plenty of room for ball games as well. There are 2 supermarkets about a mile away opposite each other, the site is well located for visits to The Deep, York, Bridlington and many other places, will definitely visit this site again

Just had 5 days here, the campsite is well situated for trips into to York Hull and the surrounding area. The facilities are first class really well maintained and clean. The owner and staff were very helpful. The site has a lovely play area for children my grandsons had a brilliant time and made friends with other children while we were there.

What can I say this is one of the best campsites we have ever stayed at. The owners can't do enough for you always helpful and make you feel at home. The toilets and showers are excellent always clean and hot water is always available. Pocklington is such a pretty village with plenty of shops. Once you stay here you will definitely return. Thanks again Louise and nick co

First time at this campsite. Only third time in caravan but this was the best site so far, booked again already.
Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough to help. Advice on local establishments, security key card entry, toilet block was very clean and lots of hot water.
Pitch was grass, although there is hard standing too, as well as long stay.
Easy location to find. Local butchers in Pocklington was excellent. Local Aldi and Sainsburys too. Gliding club nearby and an old canal partly weeded over. Nice, quiet place with local Hall and gardens.
Lovely stay, saw an owl sat on the neighbours caravan aerial.
Going back with bikes to try out the canal towpath.

Good access roads onto site. Hard standing pitch close to toilet/shower block. The Owners booked us in and was more than helpful with lots of useful information about the surrounding area, recommending places to visit and eat. The shower and toilet block was adequate, spotlessly clean but we were there in March and was a little on the cold side. The site is kept very clean wine bins emptied daily. Beverley was about a 20 min drive away and the local village Pocklington is less than 5 mins away in the car. It's a lovely village with everything you'd want. We got the bus into York, the stop is straight outside the site, which was really handy, it took about 30 mins. Lovely peaceful site.

Well what can I say. As we were in the area we returned to Southlea.
Another excellent 3days, same as last September.
1 night on the grass and 2 nights on hard standing right next to the loo.
Toilet/showers as good as last year.
Louise very helpful again.
Cant fault this campsite one bit. Some people are very picky with their remarks. After leaving here we stayed at a site near Harrigate, then one in Ilkley moor before heading back south. All in all we had 15 nights away 9 different site & southlea was at the top of our list with a couple of others for being excellent.

What a great site!
We stayed there in August and from the warm welcome when we first arrived we knew we were in for a treat. The little reception cabin is full of info on the area and the owners have also put together a couple of folders full of details of where to visit and suggestions on eating out places.
What a refreshing change to find our hard standing pitch was very roomy and backed onto a well maintained flower border. For dog owners there is an enormous meadow where their pooches can stretch their legs, there is even a dog shower, especially useful this summer with the endless sunshine.
The toilet block is kept very clean and is very homely with its flowered tiles and wooden loo seats.
The site itself is very well maintained, with both the owners and their friendly wardens, Heather and Gary, doing their upmost to keep the place looking neat and tidy.
We enjoyed visits to Beverley and York and spent a couple of days exploring the beautiful Wolds which you can see from the site.
This site is a credit to the lovely owners, Nick and Louise. We cannot wait to return to this gem of a site next year!
