The location of this site is excellent, being right on the Nene Valley Country Park with its 60 odd miles of traffic free cycling/ walking paths, sailing club, miniature railway, fishing, play areas, café, bird hides and the Nene Valley steam railway passing by.
The site is split in two by the country park access road and in our opinion the two sides had a different feel about them. The side which has the reception is typical caravan club with had-standings, but the other side is mainly grass, which is where we stayed, and didn’t have the same caravan club feel about it in our opinion.
Facilities are up to the usual CC standard, but there is only one toilet/ shower block on each side, so time your showers well or have a good walk to the other side of the site. I didn’t like the single motorhome waste point though. It’s very badly positioned no matter what side your waste outlet is on. If it’s on the left you’ll block the road. If it’s on the right you’ll struggle to get over it without hitting the water tap.
The site had no dog walk, so most people used the access road foot path in the night, but the park has plenty of space for our four legged friends
Wardens are not the friendliest CC wardens we’ve ever come across and they really do need to smile more, but it didn’t spoil the holiday as we had little to do with them on this big site.
There is an on-site chip van that’s open several nights a week and we found it to be good value for money.
The big negative for this site is it’s proximity to a large populated area and that the boy racers of that area like to meet up at the country park in the night. While they never raced up and down the access road (not that we witnessed or heard) and were probably harmless, they did like to play their car stereos loud and late in to the night. I can see that this could be intimidating if you want to go on an evening stroll or walk the dog. We experienced their musical delights on two nights with music lasting for over an hour on one of them. While the country park main car park is closed of a night, there is a dropping off point that appears to be accessible, which I think is where they meet. I’m surprised that the country park, CC and council haven’t moved the barrier further along the road to prevent vehicle access to this area. So, pick your pitch wisely and aim to keep some distance from the park side of the site, and you wont have to listen to some late night entertainment! Mid week seemed to be quiet.
Would we go back? Yes, with the cycling being the big draw for us and our children.

Went with 2 other family members in 2 campervans, found the staff at reception quite rude when we checked in, only 1 camper had been booked in, even though we had a reservation no for the other camper, receptionist said the booking was made for the weekend before.
She then said it was our error and we were fortunate that they had space! When we finally found 2 pitches together the EHU unit was too far away for our cables ( advisable to take extra long hook-up cables then you have more choice of pitches ) we moved again but pitches were not together, which was not ideal for our party.
After we found 2 pitches we told the reception the pitch nos and were told 1 of the pitches was already taken ! there was no reserved board, eventually they decided that that pitch was vacant but their board in the office was not updated correctly. This was our first stay at a C.C site and we found it very disorganised.
The site is well located for the Peterborough show ground and has a huge park next door ideal for dogs.
Shower/toilet block was OK but there is only 1 in the whole park so if you park on the far perimeter like we did it is a long walk for the facilities. We didn't have to queue even though the site was full to capacity.
Fish and chip van is a good touch and ice cream van came around each evening about 8pm.
All in all its a good site in a good location just found the staff were not organised and this has put us off going again.

Just spent 2 nights here. Cost was £16.00 for 2 adults, 2 dogs plus awning and elec. Site was very busy but did not feel overcrowded.
Pitches cannot be reserved so you pitch where you like and arriving at 7.30pm did not give us many options but we managed to find a reasonably quiet corner pitch, but I would avoid using the pitches right near the play area as it gets quite noisy!
On arrival, reception were efficient and did help choosing a pitch with good clearance for our roof-mounted satellite TV but omitted to tell us the pitches were across the road in the other block so spent a while cruising around till we worked out where we needed to be!
There is a mobile chip van on site which is open Fri, Sat and Weds and there is a Londis shop about a 20-min walk away. The Nene Park is right next door to the camp site which was fantastic for our dog to run off lead and swim in the lakes. Will definitely be returning here but probably later in the year when it is a bit quieter. The rabbits and squirrels were great to watch on site too.

At first we were concerned about the size of this site as it is larger than we would normally go on but we were pleasantly surprised as it is split into two sections by a road that leads into The Nene Park
The Wardens are welcoming and friendly
The site is kept exceptionally clean as are the toilet facilities.
The Nene Park and Nene Valley Railway are both only a few minutes walk away as is a Beefeater eatery where we had a lovely 3 course meal for £9.99
All in all we would put this site in our top 5 Caravan Club sites we will definitely be returning again in the near future

This was a perfect site for us as it was only an hour away from home, had lots of dog walks and activities for the kids.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming even on a busy, wet bank holiday weekend. The site was split into east and west. The east side seemed to have more grass pitches and more popular with families but both sides had a play area & lovely clean toilet blocks.
There was direct access into Nene park with lovely walks & many cycle paths (all the way into Peterborough) There was also a couple of play areas, a souvenir shop, cafe, zorbing & boat rides. Fishing was advertised but there was a lot of dead fish and we didn't catch anything.
Next to the site was a steam railway which provided a scenic trip into Peterborough including the dog. He initially loved chasing the rabbits on site but there were so many he soon became bored. Watership down fans will love this!
We would definitely re visit this site if we can get in again!

Arrived on Friday and were told the site was full. Fortunately a cancellation came in as we were being given other suggestions and we are glad we stayed. Although it was full there was enough room and it was quiet enough.
The toilet blocks were busy because there were lots of families but not uncomfortable - and clean. The TV booster would have been useful but we didn't have a cable and couldn't be bothered to hire one and we didn't try the internet connection either - my husband wasn't told there was one (well, we were away for a break!).
The chips from the van were lovely and the walk around the lakes meant we felt we'd earned them!
We spent Saturday on the Nene Valley Railway, a short walk from the site, diesel into Peterborough to shop and then steam up and down the line. It felt like a real holiday even though we were home for lunch on Sunday. I hope we'll be there again soon.

Booked to visit the site in our camper to be joined by our friends in their motorhome. Arrived latish on the Friday evening to find the site already very busy with only a few pitches left to choose from. Luckily, we were able to find a couple of pitches near each other (you are not able to book specific pitches, you just have to take pot luck).
The first impression was that it would be noisy and overstretched. However, it wasn't. It was quiet and well cared for. The toilet block was very good with plenty of showers / toilets which were well kept. Plenty of hot water. Washing up sinks (6) were good, again lovely hot water. I would imagine peak season you would have to book well in advance.
The Nene Park itself was brilliant. We didn't realise quite how big it was until we walked round many of the lakes. Footpaths are mainly level walking which is great. Dogs are welcome anywhere you go. Lots to see.
Definitely would like to come back again although we would avoid the summer months, we feel the Nene Park would be too busy for us.

Another great stay at Ferry Meadows, can't fault this site. Booking in is quick and friendly. A busy site but quiet and very clean. Great for long walks, we tend to park up and walk everywhere. Its a perfect site for those taking bikes. Might be our weekend get away as its close to home. The toilet/shower block are spotless. The fish and chip van seemed popular, we didn't have any, but walking past on the saturday (after we had had our bbq) it was busy. Had a drink at the very busy local pub, where there were plenty of people eating so it must be good. Ideal location for Peterborough shopping, we hope to go back before christmas to have a break and also do some present shopping but the site is so popular you really do need to book well in advance.

First time at ferry meadows but it wont be the last. This is a beautiful site, very peaceful and quiet with 5 star toilet and shower facilities, booking in and out was so easy, the staff are very friendly. There are some lovely walks to suit all abilities around nene park, ideal for dogs and wild life lovers. Cant comment on Peterborough as we didn't get time to visit, there's an asda a few miles away and a great garden centre and cafe a few mins walk away. You wont be disappointed with this site.
