 Just returned from a fantastic weekend at Ferry Meadows ! A lovely typically well maintained Caravan Club site with extremely friendly wardens (especially the bald guy who was great with the kids on site) the site has a well stocked shop, immaculate toilet blocks and is very secure with barrier access
A chip van visits Wednesday, Friday & Saturday evenings
Ferry meadows is situated in a large park which has loads to do for all ages (water sports, good kids play areas, a miniature railway, boat trips, fishing and miles & miles of cycle ways (the entire Peterborough area is very cycle friendly - a path takes you all the way into the city centre (about 5 miles)
The Nene Valley steam railway runs past the site with a station just along the road (caravan club members staying on site get a 50% reduction)
There are 3 children's play areas on the site and loads of wildlife (rabbits squirrels all sorts of birds - even saw a red kite overhead
In my opinion this is one of the best Caravan Club sites in the country for facilities, friendly staff and location
We will return !

Just back from 3 nights at Ferry Meadows over the Bank Holiday weekend.
We previously visited here one winter many years ago, and oh boy the place is certainly different in the summer.
We arrived on the Friday about 6 pm, the fish and chip van was in attendance so we decided to leave the awning until Saturday and just start to relax.
The site is big, and obviously busy, but pick your pitch carefully to suit your needs. This time I wanted to pitch on grass.
The hard standing area on the west side, where you check in, is mostly hard standing and seemed much quieter, less children, but I liked the East side for the atmosphere. We were in one of the many side areas, some areas are much busier with lots of children and bikes.
There is a small playground, big pitches, and a toilet block for each side of the site.
It's very flat, and very well kept. The toilet blocks were clean at all times.
The site is close enough to walk into Nene Park, which is lovely, or 10 minutes drive into Peterborough centre, we did both.
The on site shop is fine, a large Co-op 5 minutes drive away at Orton centre.
The wardens were great, friendly and very hard working.
We had a lovely weekend, peaceful and fun, helped by the sunny weather, and all our fellow caravanners seemed to feel the same!

This is our second visit, loved it the first time could not fault it wardens very nice and friendly, we like this site as it is up to the c/c standard facilities toilet block very clean and warm. We like to bring our bikes here as there are plenty of places to cycle and safely. We like to cycle to Peterborough along side the rail track and see the steam train. You can catch the train from the station which is within with easy walking distance from site. Pub and garden centre also close by. Turn left out of entrance and you can cycle or walk for miles around the park. We will be back!

This was our first visit to Ferry Meadows and we choose the East side to stay as it was nice and peaceful. It was a very well thought out site with service points dotted quite close to pitches. The facilities were very good and spotlessly clean. It was quite quiet during our stay and I don't think I would like it when it is full.
There are plenty of birds and rabbits and you have to be careful about rabbit holes in the grassy areas.
Nene Country Park which is adjacent to the site is well worth a visit. Will definitely return here again.

To find site:- The site is about 5 minutes from the A1. Leave A1 onto either the A47 or A605 towards the centre of Peterborough and follow brown signs for the 'Nene Park'. At the roundabout by the Notcutts Garden Centre turn left into Ham Lane and the campsite is situated just before the car parks on the left, the entrance is well signed.
This was one the first sites we ever stayed at when we started caravanning more than 30 years ago. We have visited this site quite a few times over the years and seen many changes. In total there are 265 pitches which are split between two sections either side of the Nene Park access road. The main reception is in the West site which consists of a majority of hard-standings pitches, although there are also a few grass ones, and it is this part of the site which is open all year. The East site, just across the road, has mainly grass pitches although there are now about 30 or so hardstandings. The tent area is also on this part of the site. Both parts have their own toilet blocks which are up to the usual CC high standards. Both blocks have recently been upgraded and extended. There are play areas in each sections and it seems the Rally Field can be used for more boisterous games when not in use. Electrical connections are rated at 16 amps and use standard blue CEE17 sockets. Each electric bollard also has a digital TV hook up point. It is free to use although you need to provide your own co-ax cable or purchase one from Reception. Site wide WiFi is available and time can be purchased online, simply open your browser and it will take you to the purchase page. This site tends to be very busy, particularly at weekends so its an idea to book, non members are accepted.
It certainly makes an ideal site for a weekend or even longer. It is situated in the Nene Valley Park which is in the outer suburbs of Peterborough within easy access from the A1. The Park provides wonderful opportunities for walks and cycle rides. It also has the opportunity for tent camping. If you want to visit the city centre the best way is to catch a steam train into the centre of Peterborough if it is in operation during your stay. The Nene Valley Railway runs along one side of the site and the station is a few minutes walk from the site. Also within easy walking distance is a Notcutts Garden Centre, a Beefeater Pub and a golf course. The site information hut gives details of the local supermarkets and directions. There is now a new large shopping centre called the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre a couple of miles away that contains a Tesco Extra. Each side of the campsite has it's own information point. If you don't want to use your car there is a good bus service (route number 1) from Wistow Drive which is about a ten minute walk from the site. They run about every ten minutes at peak time. Its a circular route so they go one way, left to right, along Wistow Drive.

This is a lovely site with excellent facilities. The site is very well maintained and the wardens work hard to keep this standard; The toilet blocks were spotlessly clean. The site is very convenient for visits to Peterborough by foot, bicycle or public transport. It is easily accessible from all major routes. Reception once on site was friendly and efficient but I totally agree with comments about being talked down to (on the phone) by lady on reception and was sufficiently annoyed to the point of reconsidering my booking but decided not to. Some training on customer relations would be beneficial!

We've found a gem! I write this as a carer for my wheelchair dependent husband and this site ticks all the boxes. On arrival, on a dark evening, I found the staff to be very friendly, offering assistance if ever required, regarding my husband. We had the choice of either staying on the west side or the east but, not being able to see very much, in the dark, they opted to put us on the west side, although they offered us the chance to move, in the daylight, had we wanted to be on the east side. Pitches are big - downside: the dreaded gravel is prevalent but I can't comment about the east side pitches. The site is beautifully maintained and facilities up to the usual high CC standard. The disabled cubicle isn't very big but adequate for both wheelchair occupant and carer. It is well fitted out though and spotlessly clean. The surrounding area is perfect for both wheelchair and mobility scooter use. We prefer not to take the 'van off site so were happy to do the 3. 40 mile walk, into the city centre. There are one or two gradients enroute but nothing too strenuous. As we were experiencing short days, it was quite an adventure to return to site, in the dark. However, approximately half the route is lit by blue LED lights (similar to cats-eyes) marking out the edge of the cycle path. Once into the more wooded area, nearer the site, you really do need a torch! We had the pleasure of seeing the Tornado steam train, during our stay. Here's a bonus: wheelchair users are able to travel on the Nene Valley Railway, access via ramps. We didn't as our stay was too brief, but we were told this by a volunteer who works in the ticket office. Also we didn't use the local bus service, but I would like to think that too, is accessible. I had no problem getting a signal on my mobile but our son often struggled to get a WiFi connection. He travelled down with us but stayed in the nearby Premier Inn, approximately 0. 5 miles along Ham Lane, ideal for campers who may want non-camping family members staying nearby. Next to it is The Granary, offering good quality family meals. All told, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this site and will definitely be returning!

As with all caravan club sites it is well maintained and managed and the facilities are up to there usual standard. It is next to Nene Park which has a lake and the river Nene and is a great place to walk or for children to play. If you wish to go out for a meal you will need to use your car but its not far to the nearest pub.
We have been to this site several times and would recommend it to both couples and families.

Just returned from a stay at Ferry meadows with our daughter, son-in-law and grand daughter. This site is very big indeed and covers two main sites one on each side of the road. The good points are that it is in a superb setting. If you have bikes then the paths around the local lakes are really superb. Completely safe you can let your dog run alongside you! Facilities are superb and spotless. Downside is 'lock your bikes up well' there have been thefts over the summer with police on site now doing security markings on bikes. Also no TV signal surprisingly. Not everyone has a satellite dish with them! Had to use the booster cable to get any main channel. Also phone signal was very limited and my wife had no signal at all. The internet wifi was also only partially available on a small section of the site. So yes a beautiful site but with a few technical issues which really need sorting.

Beautiful site.
Great location with the cycle paths and country park next door.
Pub/carvery within walking distance.
Clean toilet block and hot showers.
Bit of a pain having to use the code lock on the doors every time you use them and the children struggle to reach the lock and also remember the code.
Electric hook up points and tv points at pitches.
Terrible WI FI but it's made clear before you book.
Site immaculate other than the odd pile of dog mess from inconsiderate owners. (we cycled through some!)
A little bit frosty on reception.
If its your first time at a caravan club site then be warned! You will get little sympathy and get talked down to a bit.
Rest of the staff were very friendly. Warden was very helpful and attentive when needed.
Play area was well kept and in good order.
Great for the kids to cycle. 99% of the people there when we were adhered to the 5mph speed limit.
Reception shop very sparse with some out of date sweets.
Would certainly go again.
