We stayed at this campsite for 3 nights with our 2 young children and dog. On the whole we had a nice time on the island, the campsite was situated close to the local facilities in Craignure. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but the site has five stars from scottish tourist board and I just don't see why. I think what put me off was the showers/toilets being in shielings (big marque type structures made from heavy plastic and steel poles) for the main tent field. The doors didn't lock on the showers and I think they were really quite basic.
The top tent field containing astro turfed pitches and shielings for hire was on a hill overlooking the sea, ferry and Mull railway which was lovely. Cars were only allowed on the field to off/on load which made it nice and safe for the kids to run around however the cars found it difficult to get up the hill in the rain and there was inadequate parking during busy periods on the site.
Lovely and quiet at night best sleep I've had whilst camping. Also dogs are supposed to be kept on leads at all times but a large dog was wandering around unsupervised and no-one acted on it. There is a good sized family bathroom shieling, great if you have little ones. The commnon room tent had table tennis and a few toys, sandpit not great.
At front of site there is a small rocky beach with crabs etc. Last thing if its 'Balamory' your off to see most of the houses have been repainted different colours! I suppose since they have stopped filming they don't see the need now.

Having to make a complicated booking for a mixed group of motor caravanners, I was concerned how it would be received - Sharon dealt with the request with super efficiency and a smile, also again, when the booking was changed! Unfortunately on arrival our Pitch only gave us the side view of a very large Shieling. Although the facilities are spotless, the Vinyl walls on the showers do 'cling' to wet bodies! The Warden & staff we met were great but, being pensioners & motor home owners, our needs are different to campers in tents, caravans or Shielings, therefore we would in future, prefer to stay on less expensive sites with less luxurious facilities. The Craignure Inn, five minutes away, provided our group with an excellent evening meal.

I can only really support the positive comments given by other reviewers. This is a wonderful, simple campsite with limited but pleasant facilities. It fits beautifully within its location in terms of scale.
The spot is nothing short of idyllic and well placed just a few minutes from the ferry landing and within easy walking distance of a shop and a really nice inn which serves local Mull Brewery ales (albeit in bottles).
Its a site I will long remember and fully intend to return to one day. If you are going to Mull give it a try.

We love this site. Absolutely fantastic. Great views, wildlife, peaceful, friendly helpful staff, the list goes on. Toilets/showers were clean and well maintained. They share the car park with the Mull Steam Railway, during the day it belongs to the railway but, at 6:00pm it turns into six hard standing campervan pitches all with electric. In our opinion these are the best pitches on the site apart from the fact that you can only use them between 6:00pm and 10:30am which to us was not a problem as we were out touring the island all day. Stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. There is also a great pub (Craignure Inn) only 5 mins walk away serving great food and beer.

EXCELLENT site, very clean warden very friendly and helpful, when we were there the weather was abnormally hot! Had no trouble putting up our full awning, but do remember to take hard-standing pegs. Great base to explore the island. Wife's parents are buried on the island and her family originate from Mull. So will definitely be going back in 2007! PS Even saw the otters on the rocks from the site!

We cannot praise this campsite enough! The site is clean, well organised and the welcome is superbly friendly. Nothing is too much for them. The facilities are spotlessly clean and warm. Pitches are well managed and although the pitches are surrounded by chippings this means they are all well drained, the astroturf providing that additional comfort factor! The campsite is quiet and is geared up for families. It is ideally situated for both ends of the island and the local shop is more than adequate. The setting is idyllic with amazing views across the sound to the Ben Nevis range. The wildlife is plentiful. We enjoyed feeding the local wagtails at breakfast. We will certainly return soon.

Just back from a great weekend at this site - doing Balamory with the kids - excellent location, minutes from ferry terminal, lovely views over to mainland, good clean facilities, some toilets / showers are in one of the shielings, which is basically a marquee so slightly bizarre, but they were handy! Family bathroom and disabled facilities too. Washing up facilities in the common room shieling, which also had a tv and a freezer for ice blocks. Another shieling housed the laundry facilites - didn't stay long enough to use them. Childrens playpark at the entrance, and pub is 2 minutes away - nice food. Also minature steam railway to Torosay castle is right next door. The only downside was the pitch was not completely level, sloped off at edge of astroturf, and the tents were quite close together, obviously mid-August, and the weekend of the Mull half marathon so site was busy, but facilites coped well. Will be back for a longer stay next time.

We spent a great week on this site. All that has been said in previous reviews still holds true. Our pitch looked directly out over the Sound of Mull - what a view to wake up to. Site staff were very happy to help manoeuvre our caravan front-first in to the pitch for the best view. If putting an awning up is a priority ask for a pitch which has sufficient space and shelter. Our near the shore pitch had sufficient space for a porch awning, but a larger awning would have resulted in the front opening on to a neat drainage ditch. Also offshore winds were on the strong side when we were there.

August 2005 Really enjoyed our stay here, despite the weather! Staff were very helpful when our pitch wasn't suitable for our awning & made every effort to move us even though they were very busy. Sheiling showers and family bathroom were a wonderful novelty (if a bit breezy!) and all toilets etc were clean. They have quirky little drying sheilings for drying your washing - taking advantage of the wind while avoiding the rain!
Astro-turfed pitch was a bit difficult to pitch our awning on to. The pitches with electric hook-up are hard-standing on gravel and the astro-turf is laid on top of this meaning that you hit a lot of stones & don't get such a good grip with the pegs - I'd definitely recommend heavy duty pegs if you need one of these pitches (not to be confused with their astro-turf pitches on grass - check when you book).
The kids play facilities weren't all they could be - just one swing & a wee sandpit next to the tent pitches, and a couple of swings at the entrance to the park. Having said that, with Tobermory up the road, nearby stone beaches, the Mull Railway next door and loads of other places to visit, the kids were never bored.
Overall, a lovely site with beautiful views right in the middle of Mull making it perfect for going up to Tobermory & down to Iona & next to the Ferry, even a couple of nice places nearby to go & get something to eat & warmed up when it rains - couldn't ask for more!

June 2004 This site is still exceptional for facilities and situation. A great base for exploring the wonderful Island of Mull. If you want views ask for pitch 56 - 58.
