Just got back from this site, we stayed for the august bank holiday, I can only echo the majority of the previous comments, if your happy with the very basics, then the site is great, but don't expect too much from the facilities, they are clean but it needs more. With over 200 campers this weekend the showers and loo's just coped.
Kids played well and there is room but it would be better if there was a central play area and the camping was a little more ordered.
Over all we enjoyed.

Went to this site just to try out our new caravan - it was perfect. Quiet and friendly, the owner came round most days to check all was ok. Toilets and showers were basic but adequate, in fact even though there were only 2 showers, they were so big they would have been big enough to hold a party in if you wished.
There was no noise after 11ish and even before that there was so much space between campers noise was never an issue.
My only criticism is that there could be more electric hook ups. There were only 4 boxes each with 6 outlets but they were all round 1 corner of the field - so take a long lead.
All in all a good long weekend and will be visiting again really soon.

First time at this site and what a gem. If you want a site away from it all and with no fruit machines etc then this is the one. Very flexible owners. Site was quiet and you had a lot of space to pitch. Toilets were clean and showers huge, although there were only two, but free to use.
Local village Henfield only 3 mins away with everything you need and local pubs near by for good food if required.
Owner will also let you leave your tent there for £1 a night if you want to go home and come back to camp any time over the holidays, which saves you having to put the tent away and put it up again later.
Although the kids amused themselves, maybe a wooden obstacle course or small climbing frame would be good, as there was only an old static tractor and fiberglass pig house to play with. [Although mine played with these ok]. Also felt maybe for a basic site £5 per adult [+ £5 for each child over 5 years of age] a little expensive compared to more commercial campsites but would still return due to the convenience and quiet setting.
Local swimming baths 15 mins away at Burgess Hill, which was very useful on rainy days. Brighton only 20-30 mins away. Overall a brill place to stay.

Having just returned from a 4 day stay at this site I have to say it was just what the Dr ordered , simple no frills no fuss. Drive on to the site drop your money at reception on route to 2nd field (tents only) and pitch up wherever! The toilets are slightly small but there are larger ones as well 2 shower cubicles but never had to wait and plenty of hot water. Added bonus with small children whole family can fit easily in 1 cubicle! (Not sure daddy appreciated this as much!) A few little niggles : no freezer facility that I could see meant in hot weather food went off quickly. This meant driving to henfield daily for milk, meats etc. However butchers there is reasonable and very nice . Also we were told to stroll up to The Royal Oak for a drink first evening apparently 20 mins walk along country road ! 45 mins later with 2 fed up children we returned to camp an drove there! Also pubs in this area keep country times not open all day so check first . I do have to say the food there is gorgeous! Well worth the effort .
All in all will no doubt be back .

First visit to Blacklands Farm and trial run in borrowed folding camper. Just a weekend visit with friends but we were all impressed with the site. It was a busy weekend as summer had arrived! Although the toilets were dated and not 'pretty' they were always clean with plenty of loo rolls. You do need your own towel & soap though - no hot water. The showers were free and plenty of hot water - and huge. They were also very clean. If you are prepared to take a shower in the middle of the day or early evening you probably wont need to queue. We had no problems at all.
Lovely lake if you want to fish and loads of space for kids to play, which is great.
Overall a lovely relaxed site, basic but clean, friendly, very adequate facilities and although busy it was lovely and quiet. A totally chilling weekend. Bull pub a mile away with awesome pizza - either in the pub or takeaway. What better way to spend a Saturday evening but sitting outside the awnings with pizza, wine and great company in the middle of the countryside. We will all certainly book again.

First time of staying at this site and we did miss the nameboard outside the entrance as we were looking for a campsite sign! Lovely quiet site but agree with a previous review that it could do with more hook ups as we were stuck in the corner with several others, where as the tents were able to space themselves out as there really is loads of space on this site, surrounded by trees and the lakes in the bottom field. It would be great if you had older kids for ball games etc. But they would need to be supervised in various areas because of the open lakes! Toilet cubicles are very small, ladies were clean but apparently the gents left a lot to be desired! No hot water in basins. On the day of our arrival there was a group of young people staying, who were no problem but I went for a shower the first evening and there were approx 15 waiting for the 2 showers! Showers were big, free and plenty of hot water and reasonably clean. The ground, although we hadn't had any rain within the previous few days, was quite wet in places and we did skid a bit trying to move off in the morning and found the grass was left rather long and morning and evening it was wet feet all round! This site is great if you want to sit and read (or sleep!) and don't mind it being rather basic.
We found Steyning was a nice place to shop with a supermarket and also lots of little independent shops and check out the little shed-like shops down a little alley way! Well quirky! Motorhome friendly with room on the roads near library to park or reasonable size car park.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend here with our 3 children and two friends.
Overall very nice site with welcoming host.
Site was quite busy, although that was not a problem, as there are no set pitches, which is good.
The Bull Inn was a really nice pub, good beer, lovely garden with adventure playground which our 3 kids loved. We drove there so not sure about the walk. Also went on a walk to the Royal Oak, which is a nice pub, only 1/2 an hour walk along the road, bit long cross country on the way back, but nice all the same.
Southwater Country park was very nice, with a good playground, which is 20 minutes away. Also went To Brighton on Sunday so plenty to do.
Showers were spacious so good to take the children in, although only the two, and toilets were 'cosy'!
Kids probably enjoyed the straw bales in the camping field and plastic cows to jump on the most!

Stayed for 2 nights on this site.
Pitches are not marked out - you can pitch where you like. Electric hook-ups are quite close together - and these are limited in number. Graham the owner was very pleasant.
2 fields - one for tents and one for caravans - very large fields.
Quiet site - predicted weather wasn't so good - so maybe it would have been busier with a better forecast - but the weather was good!
Good pub- The White Hart - in Henfield.
We use our own toilet & shower - so can't comment on facilities.
Fishing was good - but only limited spots to fish - and you have to fish in front of the tents.
But, we enjoyed it - and will come back again!

Had a fantastic communal camping weekend with bonfire society friends and new ones made too who joined us for our annual camping weekend. None of us had been to this site before and it was ideal site location for distance for all of us. The site itself was very spacious for all our tents to be located near to the communal kitchen marquee (courtesy of Geoff and Sarah!) The owner was very friendly and visited us several times over the weekend to check all was well. The toilets were a bit small for the larger men to sit comfortably in but they were clean and you never ran out of toilet roll ladies!
The unisex showers we would imagine would be a huge queue at peak season as there were only two but they were nice and spacious so two or more can go in at the same time, if you have young kids to shower its ideal. Kids loved playing on the plastic cows and in the igloo but we would suggest a playground area would be an asset to this site. The lake was lovely for the kids and the anglers.
A lovey walk to The Royal oak which was a nice pub but a shame no 'cheesy chips' on the menu!
The owner allows camp fires that are off the ground he does sell wood but we brought our own.
We personally would visit this site again.

Just returned from a weekend at Blacklands, site is in a lovely position nice and quiet, lots of room for kids to run, although you need to be wary of the lake with small children.
Not much for the kids to do so a football is a must. The toilets are exceptionally clean although not suited for the larger person, as you will need to back into the toilet and ladies watch your head when you stand up !
All in all a good site for a weekend, but the toilets do need to be looked at, no facilities for disabled and no hot water in the toilets or washing up area, which is not covered, so you get a bit wet when its raining. Mixed showers which can be a bit daunting for a teenage daughter !
