There are plus and minus for this site.
I guess that it depends on your expectations of a camp site. If you are used to modern and organised this may not be the site for you.
I will begin with the plus -
Huge pitch sizes, no extra costs for 2 vehicles, gazebos etc.
Very well maintained fields for tents and tourers. Use of firepits is brilliant.
Fishing lake is small and has loads of small fish (and some bigger) to guarantee constant catching - great for youngsters.
Indoor easy-up swim pool is fun and warm and ok for my 4 year old to stand up in but big enough to swim a few strokes as an adult.
Maybe this sites greatest asset is Ray, the site owner. He is very happy to please and is usually about if needed. He is an interesting character who has a Heath Robinson approach to his site !
The 'honesty box' approach for limited snacks is a nice trusting touch.
The Poachers Pocket pub right outside the site serves basic but good food.
The minus to this site are as follows-
Not very many electric hook ups, so confirm before you go. No site shop so you need to be pretty much self sufficient (not necessarily a minus !)
Site facilities barely reach an acceptable standard in my opinion. Water pressure is sometimes an issue, not fun during a shower! toilets, sinks and showers not as clean as could be. Washing up area very poor, only 1 sink and no space.
Not sure what to say about the games room. It appeared dirty and ramshackle but if the weather was very poor, I guess it is somewhere to spend a bit of time. It was the only place I found an electric socket for my hairdryer.
We enjoyed our stay, this is a no frills site but the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. If the Showers/toilets and washing up facilities were improved, it would be highly recommendable.

We have just returned from 5 nights at Mill Farm, we originally booked for 4 nights but stayed an extra night as it was so lovely.
The main appeal for us was the space for the tent pitches, when we arrived Ray showed us round and we chose our pitch, there were only three other tents on this particular field and Ray said with us on there it was now full! I've never had so much space on a camp site before.
The showers and toilets were always clean and apart from once we always had hot water. The pool was an added bonus, it may just be a large inflatable but plenty big enough for a family swim and really good fun.
The girls loved learning to fish with their Dad and we all enjoyed the evening camp fires.
All in all a great time was had by all and Ray was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

My children and I stayed at Mill Farm in August 2012 for 3 nights.
Ray, the owner was so helpful and a really nice man. The pitch size was massive and were really spaced apart.
Campfires at night were such a bonus. Our neighbour had a fire pit so we sat with them and enjoyed a camp-fire with Ray delivering bags of wood to our pitch.
The site was dog friendly with plenty of space to walk our dog.
The showers were adequate and there was hot water for washing up.
Lovely pub just outside the site and a short drive to the local town.
The kids absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. ! There was so much to do. Fishing, games room which served Mocktails!, football area, small indoor pool and so much more. It is a lovely family friendly site with a really nice feel about it.

We are just back from a lovely week at Mill Farm, upon arrival Ray gave us a tour of the site and helped us to select our pitch in a very sunny spot facing the fishing lake,
the pitches are well maintained and generous, the site was full whilst we were there however there were just five units in our field and unlike most other sites who would have put two/three units in between each of us, we had a huge amount of space.
Each field has a similar number of units in but none were overcrowded, there is a huge playing field where our boys enjoyed football and kite flying and the fishing lake was a big hit, plenty of fish caught everyday and all at a very reasonable cost.
Overall the site is very peaceful although slight traffic noise could be heard occasionally from the A12, however the proximity of the road meant that this site is excellent for touring around the area and seeing all it has to offer, Southwold, Framlingham and Aldeborough all being just a short distance away.
We tend to use our own facilities however on the few times we did use the toilet block they were acceptable.
This site has a lovely rustic charm to it and Ray is wonderful with the children, the toasted marshmallows were a great hit with our youngest on our final night!

Spent 8 days at Mill Farm and has to be the best place I have stayed at! It's a wonderful little haven if you are looking for peace and quiet in the country side.
No problem with getting a hot shower everyday, which were kept clean as were the toilets. Site was fairly busy but never had to queue. The pitches are fantastic, plenty of space between units and well maintained with grass being cut regularly.
Ray the owner is a real diamond. Always smiling, nothing is too much trouble.
The games room maybe a little basic but my 11 year old daughter loved it. A pool table which was sometimes set to 'free play' for the kids and Ray is brilliant at rounding all the kids up and organising games and activities.
I needed a new sleeping bag for my daughter and asked Ray where the closest place would be (probably Ipswich). He said 'leave it with me' and 2 hours later appeared with a brand new pucker quality sleeping bag for a price I wouldn't even be able to get online!
There is a massive field for walking dogs where you can let them off lead to have a good run, throw balls etc for them in safety and a large pitch for football / ball games etc.
It's a very picturesque site with the lake at the centre having ducks and lilly pads etc. The swimming pool was a real bonus on a hot afternoon and when you book a session it is private and you can lock the door behind you.
One of the few places that let you have a firepit too which is a must for me. Ray delivers sacks of wood if you request it at a reasonable price.
A perfect balance of a beautiful site with the necessary amenities. We will be returning again and again!

I have just returned from my second stay at Mill Farm and I have to say this year, I was less than impressed. Overall, my stay was fine but I thought standards had dropped since last year.
Plus Points: I had a lovely spot with some other families and actually had electricity this year. There were snacks and drinks readily available for pennies and I needed a new gas canister which was also sold to me at a low cost.
Negative points: Last year, I wrote how the washing up facilities weren't up to much. They were worse this year. You had to get your washing up done before dark or you couldn't see a thing.
I had a real issue with the cleanliness of the toilets. I expect to share my camping experience with a few bugs but, the toilets looked like they had been decked out for Halloween with the amount of spiders and cobwebs there were inside and out.
There were only 2 fully functioning showers on site so there was a queue. One had a lovely dirty bucket of water while I actually had to physically remove the hair from a shower drain so the water would drain. The showers that were working were very temperamental and I ran the risk of either hypothermia or third degree burns.
This site also advertises wifi. I did email asking to be hooked up, but I wasn't given any in the end but that wasn't the be all or end all.
Ray was friendly enough but the only improvement really made was the 'bar' in the games room.
Outside the site, you still have the wonderful 'honesty stalls' and my daughter and I spent quite a bit on them! Aldeburgh is still as lovely as ever and still has the best chips & scraps in the UK (my opinion obviously!)
There is now a food only Tesco in Saxmundham, that seems to be the only thing that stays open past 2pm!
Overall I don't think I would stay there again unless it was majorly improved, especially, with Carlton Park a bit closer to the station.

The campsite is very spacious and the owner is very helpful and friendly. We had a massive pitch in a field practically to ourselves, which the dog was allowed to run around in. The fires were an added bonus to the site which was very nice. The only problem was the toilet and shower facilities and washing up area. They were dirty and very smelly! The sinks were full of soap scum and hairs and didn't look like they had been cleaned in a long while( cobwebs everywhere and dead insects on the floor). There was also a terrible smell all around that area. It was such a shame as everything else about the place was very good. I will not be returning unless the toilets etc have a refurb

Pitch site was great a whole field to yourself
Toilets / showers complete let down and the smell was nasty
No hot water for washing up the whole week we were there
No sink in one of mens loos so you couldn't wash or dry your hands and with only 6/7 loos for the whole site it can get very busy at times.
Games room was a shed with lots of bit and bobs in not so much a games room as a dumping ground
Shame really as the pitches are so nice but the rest lets it down
We won't be going back again

Ray the owner wasn't around when we got there but his son showed us the way to the field.
Plenty of room for everyone and it was pleasant overlooking the lake. There was a good 3g signal for my laptop.
Mill Farm is in a good area for exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside and the coast is only a short drive away.
Although the facilities were always clean, there was no hand washing availability in the male toilet (the water had been disconnected). This may have been rectified now however.
Overall, it is a good campsite.

This is such a lovely site, grassy fields, plenty of room per pitch. We had hook up.
Ray, the owner, could not do enough for you. The kids loved it. Play room/kids room with TV, games.
One field had a footie pitch marked out. Dog walk available all around the site.
Facilities not the greatest, several showers. Several toilets all unisex. One had a light not working but it was soon sorted. Children able to run around all day if necessary.
Close to south wold and shape maltings
