A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Great facilities, great area and a fantastic atmosphere. A superb site with a charmingly rustic feel. Great array of choice in regards to pitch setup, all within convenient walking distance of the main entrance and site amenities.
The pitches were of a seemingly unlimited size allowing us to comfortably spread ourselves out far more than any other other campsite I've stayed at. We arrived at Mill Farm on the second night of a long hiking trip and immediately felt at home, allowing ourselves to unwind and recuperate from a long day's walking.
We particularly enjoyed the on site pool, a comfortable temperature and of more than adequate size to relax in.
One of the Major selling points of this particular site though has got to be it's owner: a man for which the word 'nice' simply doesn't cut it. He was good-natured, friendly, funny and at every opportunity bent over backwards for us to ensure that our stay was enjoyable.
He met us at the side of the road and not only proceeded to drive us and our luggage the remainder of the trip to the campsite, but continued to treat us with a tour of the area and site facilities. He then allowed us time to get settled before returning with supplies for a campfire and to settle the bill. The warm welcome genuinely made our stay a thousand times more enjoyable and made us feel immediately at ease.
I would absolutely recommend Mill Farm, a great site and great value for money!

Just returned from lovely break at Mill farm.
The site ticked all the boxes for us. Plenty of space for dogs, country pub serving home made food literally 2 minutes away, no overcrowded pitches - we had the field to ourselves. Also, the camp site owner, Ray is very friendly The area is also well placed for exploring surrounding area.
Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, made the most of free range eggs on sale in the sites small shop, fry ups every morning!- liked the ' honesty box' arrangement.
We would definitely come back - even if only to sample Rays home made wine again, which luckily took the edge off Englands dire performance!

Recently stayed again at the Mill Farm Camp site, having been before we knew the site and owner.
Plenty of space for kids to enjoy, fishing if you want it, site is huge and plenty big enough if you want to give your dog a walk without leaving the site, plenty of lovely areas around to walk also.
Weather was terrible on the week we were there but Ray the owner kindly allowed us to re - pitch to a drier spot, nothing was too much trouble, very helpful throughout visit and able to advise on where to go, what to do if you don't know the area.
Pub next door is very good, local pub food nothing fancy but good and not expensive.
Plenty of facilities, toilets, showers, kids play areas, all kept clean and lovely site.
Recommended and will be visiting again.

This was our first visit to this site and we loved it. It was May bank holiday weekend and the weather was pretty dreadful and much of Suffolk was underwater! According to the very enthusiastic and entertaining owner, the site was 'full' yet we had a field to ourselves and were barely aware of others on the site.
The facilities are basic but very clean; I think Ray must have been constantly washing the floors. Outside it was so muddy yet I've stayed on very expensive posh sites where the loos get covered in mud very quickly and no one seems to clean them (and campers don't help by being pretty mucky themselves).
There are 3 bathrooms with a toilet, sink and shower which was great, plus another toilet and shower.
I'd have to agree with other reviewers about washing up, but that's a minor point.
It's all a bit mad and Heath Robinson like which is our kind of thing. At one point Ray rounded up all the children to collect dinosaur teeth.
This is not a site for those who like their individual picket fence pitches, wifi and satellite tv. We don't, we just like somewhere beautiful, friendly and relaxed with good basic facilities. We'll be back.

Spent 4 nights with our 2 10 yr old boys at this small but friendly site this August. Ray (the owner) was great, very helpful but not intrusive, plenty of room between units, showers hot and never had to wait more than a couple of minutes.
Also our sons soon made friends with Rays own twin boys and younger brother plus other kids on the site, and they spent each evening in the games barn playing snooker, air hockey, watching videos etc, so we didn't see much of them!
We also hired the pool for £1 each, ok, just a large easy up pool in a greenhouse, but great for the kids.
Also did some fishing, and boys very happy to catch loads of fish, at their age it is quantity, not size that counts, although we did see large fish caught by others.
We will be going back!

This was my first experience of Mill Farm, and I have to say that I have never been made to feel more welcome on a campsite before! Ray and his Wife are a credit to the profession.
The site itself is huge, but Ray has a policy of avoiding over crowding, for example, on the first night, we had a whole field to ourselves.
The pub is very close to the site, the food is excellent pub faire (especially the steak and kidney pudding), the beer is real, and the barman even provided 4 pint containers to take beer back to the site.
Then when we got back to the tent, Ray had provided an iron basket, firewood, newspaper and kindling for us to have a campsite fire under the star filled skies of Suffolk.
He even supplied matches! Absolutely magic! The shower and toilet facilities were also clean and well managed.
Only one last thing to add. We'll be back!

My partner and I stayed here for two nights and had a lovely time here at this site.
Even though it was the bank holiday weekend there was still plenty of space to pitch up, ray likes to give everyone as much space and privacy as possible and he also tries to group similar people together so couples like us arent surrounded by large familys etc.
Toilet and shower facilities were fab, proper little private bathrooms. Always clean and never had to wait to get in.
What I also liked and have never had at any other site is ray brought round fire baskets for anyone that wanted to sit around a fire. We had to pay for the wood we used but it was reasonably priced and there was plenty of it. I wish more sites offered this.
There is also a lovely pub just next door to the site where we had a lovely lunchtime meal.
We will definitely be coming back here again to stay in the future.

My daughter (aged 5) and I have just returned from a lovely 2 night stay at Mill Farm. I had read the reviews here so I thought I was prepared for what I might find. I was actually a little bit wrong! The campsite I think is very much a 'work in progress' but it suited us down to the ground.
On arrival, Ray showed us round and showed us where to pitch up. We had a lovely spot sharing the field with some chickens! On the first day, we walked into Saxmundham Village, which is roughly about a 40 minute walk. There are some scenic routes but we never figured them out! Some of the houses have little stalls outside them offering homegrown/homemade fare, eggs and flowers for a small fee which gave it a lovely touch.
On the second day, my daughter and I went to Aldeburgh which is about 45 minutes by bus. The buses run hourly from stops on the main road and it's £4. 20 for an adult return. Worth going to for the best chips in the UK! It rained heavily so my daughter and I spent the evening in the 'games room' with some of the other campers and children.
The surrounding area is so peaceful and quiet (you kind of tune out the a12 ) and it really has a 'back to nature feel'. The other campers and locals are just as friendly and it took me back to childhood holidays. There is plenty of footpaths for long walks and maybe even a secluded picnic.
The only thing that let the site down was the lack of hot water. There just wasn't enough of it for washing up and hand washing after a loo stop. There was, however, plenty for showers.
Thanks again to Ray and Debbie for a lovely time and I hope we can come again!

We had a wonderful time at the quaint caravan park.
Ray (the owner) was extremely friendly, and would deal with anything you needed.
The whole site was friendly and you were never rushed to get there on time and there wasn't a set leaving time either, so you really did feel relaxed from start to finish.
Its very basic and non commercial. The toilets and showers were clean and although there were few there was never a queue.
The games room has potential but wasn't fantastic but with the space you have per pitch and the space around you there really is no need to be cooped up in there.
The A12 is in the background but we never heard anything (apart from if sirens went past).
Over all there was nothing more we needed for our relaxing weekend away with friends.

We had a lovely week at Mill Farm.
It’s a very charming, slightly ramshackle site, but has everything you need. The owners are very friendly – Ray directed us to a local playground which was only 15 minutes walk through the fields, and we also used his 'swimming pool' - basically an inflatable pool inside a greenhouse. One family at a time, at a cost of £1 per person. The kids loved it!
We were on a large field with plenty of room, but near to other families with children, so our children made friends instantly. They also used the “games room” which had table tennis, air hockey and pool.
The facilities were clean, not over-plentiful but as the site wasn't too busy it didn't matter.
There is only one washing up sink – more might be helpful if the site was busy. Also there isn’t a lot of hot water from the taps, which makes washing up difficult. Plus the washing up sink is right next to the chemical toilet disposal, which is not too pleasant. And it could do with a light over the sink at night time.
However it was good value for money at only £18 a night for 5 of us, and we enjoyed exploring the local area - Aldeburgh, Southwold, Dunwich Heath, Minsmere RPSB Reserve.
Big bonus is the pub directly outside the campsite – the food is a little expensive for what it is (standard fare), but makes a change from camp cooking. The site also sells free range eggs, snacks and cold drinks, and you can use the fridge and freezer free of charge.
