Just had a lovely relaxed long weekend at this cosy campsite. Customer Service / friendliness / willingness / helpfulness of the farmer and his family excellent, nothing at all was too much trouble. Real down to earth people.
If you need swimming pool, club house, shop etc this is not the site for you. If you want fantastic views of the sea, ample pitch space on a working farm this is it.
A short way through the field leads you to the main road, and a 10 minute walk gets you to the beach. A further 15 minute pleasant walk along the seafront or beach gets you in to Whitby.
Watching the cows being milked, 3 little calves being hand fed, pheasants, ducks, hens, white cats and the friendliest of sheep dogs it was lovely.
Being a working farm you would need to supervise small children but there is adequate space for them to play on the pitches and the animals get on with their business without bothering you.
As a fellow visitor during the same week has already mentioned showers and toilets are in a portacabin, but don't be put off on first impressions - they were spotless in everyway, were included in the price and no limit to how long you showered!
We loved this site and will definitely be going back for more!

We have just had the most relaxing bank holiday weekend at Straggleton farm. The owners are great they couldn't do enough for you and always around if needed.
Showers and toilet block was lovely and clean with toilet roll and free! Great views and easy access to Sandsend and Whitby around a mile walk to each.
Highly recommend The Hart Inn Sandsend for a huge meal and a good pint. Got a frosty reception at The Beach Hotel the proprietor was as sour as the pint and flat coke he served us.
We will be back for another visit very soon, highly recommend and really good value for money £10 per night and £2.00 for electric hookup.

WOW.! sums it all up really, a BASIC site that takes you back to what camping/caravanning was all about! Very helpful site owner, nothing is too much trouble for him, toilet/shower facilities clean if not a little 'different', nice to have the 'freedom' this site allowed. Nice walks to both Sandsend and Whitby, regular bus service along the coast road ( 5 mins walk from site), a VERY exposed site our awning got ripped badly !. But if you want the sea views that's the risk you take I suppose???, We will be back that's for sure

What a fantastic little site!
The field we were put in was superb, electric hook up readily available. Showers were electric so lovely warm water and good water pressure too! Toilet & shower facilities were kept spotless and a mop & bucket with detergent kept in each block so you could mop down once you'd been in there - fantastic!
The campsite itself has fantastic views and as it's a working farm lots to keep the kids interested!
The owners were around all the time if anything was needed and at £12 a night with hook up it is fantastic value for money!
Deffinately in our 'will visit again' list!

Good basic site still improving, on a hill overlooking sandsend golf club. This is a working dairy farm so be aware the cows get milked twice a day & everything else that goes with the process. Bus into whitby at bottom on lane or walk along tarmac cliff path about 1/2 hr walk.We walked into whitby & bus back every 1 hr service. They fitted us in a very short notice due to another event being cancelled

Despite being a young couple we were welcomed warmly and friendly by the owner. Although we stayed just the one night we found the campsite very family orientated and all other campers were very friendly. There was a grassed area in the middle of the camping space which was ideal for the other families who had children.
The campsite had all imenities needed which were close at hand ie clean warm showers, toilets, drinking water and rubbish disposal. All was clean and in very good condition.
From the campsite you can see the sea and even Whitby Pier (this was made easier for us as we stayed Regatta Monday). Short walk to beautiful Lythe and not far from Whitby itself. My partner also noticed there was a pub on the road of the campsite (typical male!). We loved the fact it's a working farm as plenty to see but yet it's so peaceful and quiet.
We will definitely be going back soon both to camp and to hire a caravan available on site which are of a very good standard.

This is as basic site, there is no bar & no shop - there isn't even anywhere to do the washing up, however:
The Owner is extremely helpful and approachable, the site is very peaceful, the views out to sea are most impressive, the toilets and showers are spotless, Showers are free and any temperature you want! There is a nice quiet beach is over the road.
If you want a peaceful basic site then you could do far worse.
Site is on a hill but well kept.

A small basic but functional site, part of a working milking farm.
Close to both Sandsend and Whitby about 1 mile to each.
We did not book, but were met by the site owner who was very helpful he even lent us a set of pegs for our tent as we forgot ours. There are no set pitches you go where there is room, tents and tourers all together. Toilets/showers consist of 2 unisex potacabins, each one has a toilet and 2 showers in them, as you enter you lock the door to the portacabin behind you so its all yours or your families, this could lead to ques during busy times but we did not have a problem, they were both very clean and well maintained.
The site is on quite a slope which is a bit of a problem for tents.
Good value for money we paid £10 all in for 2 adults and a 13yr old.
All in all a nice site close to everything, we will us it again.

We have just returned from a great weekend at High Straggleton Farm. The site is a working farm which was of great interest to our two year old! The owners were really welcoming and friendly. The campsite itself has all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay, two toilets blocks with warm clean showers, clean drinking water and an area to dispose of rubbish. There are no pot washing facilities, but there is an area to do laundry. It is situated halfway between Sandsend and Whitby, both of which are within walking distance or a short drive by car. There are the usual shops, pubs etc within easy reach. The beach at Sandsend is great for little ones and there are some lovely places to eat and drink. All in all a great place to stay and very reasonably priced with great views out to sea if you pitch at the top of the field. We will be back!
