Good Site But Beware Rally Noise from Pub
Lovely site with good wash blocks. We arrived early and the warden tried to be helpful in giving us information about somewhere to go with our two little boys while we waited to be let on site.
Yes they don't let you on until midday and are sticklers for that as well as accompanying you to your pitch. So as long are you are aware that they are particular you can deal with it.
We had a lovely grass pitch with accompanying bunnies popping in and out of the hedges which was great for the toddlers.
Personally as a tent camper though I do not really like being put on pitches in between or opposite big caravans or motor-homes. I like to feel like I am in the middle of nowhere in a parking lot.
It was a lovely peaceful quiet site until the evening. The weekend was spoiled by the noise from the '3 magpies' public house.
We chose the site because we know the Camping and Caravan Club cut noise at 11pm. Yet here there is an exempt club site right next door which turned the music up at 11pm. So yet again we didn't get a great nights sleep. The music kept on going until at least 12.30-1am.
We have been told that you need to telephone the pub yourself to check if there is a rally and these currently happen about six times a year. So beware.
Unless of course you being kept awake by hearing loud base and every single word to 'sweet Caroline' being sung very loudly in karaoke style!

The wardens were very helpful when I phoned to book a reservation I was told the site was full, but if I didnt mind parking in the section for RVs they could accomadate me. When we arrived the heavens had opened up, the warden pointed me in the direction of our pitch and showed us where the facilities were( toilets, fresh water etc). To my amazement we were pitched right in the corner total privacy, very quiet.
The toilet block we used was one of the best i have seen, very clean and plenty of hot water. I give the wardens 10/10 for their cheerful welcome and very good facilities, will be going again.

This is indeed a lovely site - one of the few English sites that meets the standard of Continental sites. The facilities are very good and well kept. It is near the canal and lends itself to walking & cycling. We did find one member of staff to be rather 'Jobs Worth'. We were shown to our pitch, pitched, the member of staff returned and advised us we should move to one end of the pitch. This happened to two out of the three parties within our group. On talking to others on the campsite we find that this has happened before. Our advice is do not pitch your unit until you have a member of staff overseeing your position on your pitch. The Charm School who trained this member of staff should give a full refund!

This is a typical C&CC site with the usual facilities, it is well placed for visits throughout the beautiful County of Wiltshire. As keen cyclists we loved the cycle path alongside the Kennett and Avon Canal which is adjacent to the site. I thought the site was looking a bit 'worn' which is odd for the beginning of the summer season and the Wardens were'nt the friendliest bunch I've come accross but perhaps they were having a bad weekend.

June 2005 Lovely site, has a very 'established' look to it due to the hedge and tree planting despite only being a few years old. Nice and flat and stone-free for the tent pegs! Very helpful wardens, spotless facilities and we were very pleased with our huge grass pitch for the tent. Pub just around the corner, playground for children and very nice food. Canal around the other corner, lovely walks.

April 2005 Really good site with very friendly and helpful staff. Immaculate showers etc. The only criticism that I have is not about the site itself, but about the food in the pub which the C&CC state in their brochure as being a place where you will obtain GOOD FOOD... that's a laugh. The pub was busy with locals and we noticed that no-one else was eating so this should have been a warning. We did not complain as the locals did not look at all friendly!!!!!!!!

June 2004 Just stayed one night in order to visit Stonehenge for the Solstice. A very clean site with little hedges round camping fields for privacy. Shower block immaculate and even the wash hand basins in cubicles so no fighting for space to put toothpaste.
Friendly and helpful staff. No cars on site at night which is reassuring.
I don't know much about the 'club' but if all their sites are so well thought out I may think about joining.

June 2004 Lovely site! We went at the end of the half term week and even though the site was fully booked out with plenty of kids running around, the site was really peaceful. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially when our electric cable wouldn't reach and they lent us one for the weekend. The facilities were spotless, possibly the cleanest I've seen as yet, with really good showers! Really enjoyed the walks along the canal and the Cairn Hill flight of locks has got to be seen. Would definately re-visit this site.

July 2003 Went here on reading above review. Wasn't disappointed! Superb site. Although site was full, there was a air of peace and quiet. Bit of noise one night from campsite next door, but this dwindled off about 10.30. Showers and toilets were spotless and the wardens were friendly and helpful. Pitches were well kept, level and a good size. Pity it rained all week!!! Will definately visit again.
