This site has to be one of our favourite C&CC sites. It's 5*.
We had 2 nights here early July. We arrived to a very friendly welcome and were asked where we'd like to pitch, then shown to a lovely large hardstanding by the warden on his bike and given all the information about the site.
There are plenty of water points dotted around the site and all bins are in an area near to the entrance. The office/reception has a few essentials but they do not offer newspapers, ordered or otherwise.
The central toilet/shower block is 5*. Code entry and spotless 24-7. 4 showers, 8 or so toilets and privacy cubicles in the ladies (I guess it was the same in the gents?).
Turn left out of the site and 2 minutes walk brings you to the Three Magpies. Nice food (Sunday lunch was good but not massive, Monday they did a 2-course lunch menu for £6 - now that was more like it!). Beer and cider was the most expensive we found on our trip though. Turn right and you're on the Kennett & Avon Canal. We biked into Devizes one day (approx 4 miles each way). It was hard going up Caen Hill Locks but stunning, much better on the way back! We walked along the towpath in the opposite direction that evening and came across the Barge Inn. Great pub, where we sat outside and watched the barges go by. Didn't eat there this time (after our 2-course lunch!) but will definitely try it on our return.
We are hoping to go back to Devizes later in the year and have recommended the site to some friends, who will hopefully camp with us this time.

We had to delay our visit here by 2 days as the site was full. We stayed a week. It is brilliant. One of the best. The canal is 2 minutes away, in fact one side of the site is alongside the tow path.
We cycled along the tow path into Devizes, stopping for morning coffee at the top of the Caen Locks. We also cycled the opposite direction along the tow path to a pub called the Barge Inn, very popular, excellent food, very good barbecue food in the garden along side the canal.
The Three Magpies Pub next door had been so busy the weekend we arrived that they had run out of gas and could not serve hot food. We had a very large hardstanding pitch at the rear of the site which had extensive grass next door and gave us privacy.
We tow a KA and the site is easy to access and move about towing a vehicle. The staff were very friendly, and helped us pitch and set up. They also had loads of information about the area and facilities.
The loos and facilities were excellent, what you would expect really from a Club site. It was quiet and is ideally situated for exploring the area by foot, cycle, or bus. We will return to this site.

Stayed for 4 nights - grass, no EHU. All hardstanding was taken when I booked, but this turned out to be a good thing because I ended up getting a nice pitch along one side of the site which was fairly flat and had plenty of space - the hardstanding area didn't offer much privacy and it felt like a lot of pitches crammed in. The grass pitches at the back of the site also looked better spaced out and quieter.
The central facilities block followed the usual format - toilets/showers, laundry facilities, dishwashing area and CDP. The gents' contained 4 showers that just about coped with the almost full site.
There was a water point next to my pitch and a service point near the entrance; there were no recycling bins but I was told by the wardens that everything put into the waste skips near the service point was sorted for recyclables.
TV and radio reception was OK; mobile (O2) was good; 3G ('3') was poor.
One of the main attractions of the site is right next door - the canal, which you can walk along to Devizes (took about 75 minutes). I had a good meal there (Castle Hotel bar) before checking out the weekly market (every Thursday).
Further afield I visited Lacock Abbey (near Chippenham), Avebury (near Calne) and Dyrham Park (north of Bath). I also found a great little farm shop/cafe between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon - Hartley Farm.
Overall - great wardens, good location and facilities. Unfortunately its popularity makes it a bit too crowded for me so I will probably only use it as an overnight stop.

What a lovely site! This must be the jewel in the Caravan and Camping clubs crown. Could not fault it, pitches were a good size and quite level. The facilities were excellent and the wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. Regular buses to Devizes and Bath about a 5 minute walk to bus stops. The site is right next to the Kennet and Avon canal with all the colourful barges moored up, well worth a look. Despite the weather we had a great time here. Will definitely be returning in the not too distant future. Can't wait to go back.

Visited in winter but an excellent site anytime of year, really beautifully situated next to the Kennet and Avon canal a must for cycling and walking, one pub about a mile and half down the canal with excellent facilities but a bit pricey. Site facilities superb, really welcoming staff. Excellent pub 100 yards from site welcomes dogs with good food fairly priced, will definitely be returning to this gem of a site. Not much for children other than a small play area but I'm sure the excellent countryside would keep them entertained.

This was our first outing as newbies and wanted somewhere with good roads and a nice setting. We chose well!
Very easy to get to and well sign posted. We arrived about 12. 30 and, after being asked if we wanted a pitch near facilities or backing onto canal, were shown to our pitch by Pete, the warden. Pete gave vocal instructions to assist with reversing onto pitch with perfect precision.
Very clean toilets and waste points, site busy even in November whick tells a story in itself. Walked up to Cean Locks to Devices where we stopped for a drink at the Black Horse, bit drab looking from outside but very nice inside.
Will def use this site again, but think it gets booked up early, so will need to be organized to get pitch during high season!

Fab, clean site with great facilities. Easy to find and really great staff who helped us park up on the pitch.
Easy access to Davizes and Melksham for a wander round.
Nice walk to pub on the canal side, just turn right out of the park alongside the water. Lovely pub on the water about half an hour walk away, but not cheap. Great old fashioned style pub with many different ciders located about 5 mins behind it. Highly recommended. Pub next to site ok for drinks, didn't eat out all weekend so can't say really.
Loads to do in the area, and with such a lovely site as base we will definitely be coming back

We spent a week here and I've got to say, I'm very tempted to return.
Showers and toilets were up to the usual Club standards - always immaculate. We were placed on a flat, sheltered pitch which we found ideal.
The Three Magpies pub nearby does fabulous meals and the beer is reasonably priced. There are a few other pubs along the Kennet and Avon canal if you head in the direction of Melksham. As mentioned, one is a tad pricey but the others are better value for money.
The market town of Devizes is an hour's walk along the Kennet if you head West. You have to walk up the fascinating flight of locks at Caen Hill on your way there. Devizes itself is full of interesting shops and pubs and of course the Wadworth brewery!
If you don't fancy the walk, there is a bus service near the campsite entrance. The same service also runs all the way to Bath for a brilliant day out. I highly recommend the Roman Baths.
Will I be back? Absolutely - the next chance I get!

First impressions are that this is a lovely site and I suppose it is, The wardens were friendly and very efficient in a military sort of way that seems to be the C&CC way these days.
Majority of pitches are hardstanding and quite close together, my opening comment to my good lady was that it was a bit like pitching on a carpark, good for those who like the more regimented site (I was reprimanded for not pitching correctly, my rollout awning might have gone over the grass and that would never do.
The facilities were of a high standard and kept clean and tidy, No recycling facilities were in evidence which was a bit unusual for a club site.
Pub within easy walking distance served good food, a bit pricey, and it got very busy, nice beer garden. Handy for buses to Devizes. Nice walks along the canal.

This is a very well laid out and maintained site with plenty of hedges and trees. The wardens were very helpful and knowledgeable and will even aid your reversing onto a pitch if required. They manage the pitch allocation very well here i. E. If you wish and you have children they will site you near the playground and if you do not they will site you in another part of the site. Even though we were here in August and the site was full with every type of unit it was still a relaxing and peaceful stay. This site has recently installed a new barrier security system which is always reassuring. Also a one-way system operates around the site which makes life easier and unlike a previous reviewer we found it was well sign-posted as such. A disappointing element to this site however is that there is no recycling facilities whatsoever just big general waste bins at the back of the car park at the entrance.
The site is ideally located to explore the surrounding area; there are tourist information leaflets at the reception which also has a small shop. Best of all, the site is right on the Kennet & Avon canal for cycling and walking.
The toilet/shower block was always kept clean and tidy however it did struggle at this peak time during the mornings so for those that used these facilities there was some queuing to be done. During other times I expect they are adequate. There is also a family room and laundry.
There is a play area for children and a large area at the back of the site for ball games etc. Also at the back of the site is a dog walk area for those with our four legged friends. Dogs must be on a lead on the site which as non-dog owners we think is important and not once did we see a dog off the lead around the site, something you do not always see at a lot of sites despite it being a requirement.
The Three Magpies pub is a couple of minutes walk from the site (you will see it when you arrive). We had a couple of meals here and found it reasonable and the food good. There is also a very nice Tea Room on the canal at Semington.
Overall an excellent site and we will be returning soon.
