Stayed over the wet bank holiday and the ground was rather moist to say the least - some of the pitches did seem rather cramped and access wasn't brilliant. There were also no unenclosed hand basins in one of the toilet blocks so if you used the loo and the privacy cubicles were all in use you could not wash your hands!
However saying that I did like the site it was very clean and tidy - midge control units where in operation to reduce the biters! and the wardens and staff were helpful and pleasant.
Great location and loads of walks direct from the site. Roads are rather narrow though

This was our second visit to this site, we really like this site. The site managers are so friendly & welcoming. The pitches are good and well spaced out, nice & peaceful, the toilets and showers are very good and kept clean. Some really nice walks direct from the camp site, Bedgelert is nice to walk around, some interesting gift shops, and a great ice cream shop there, cheesecake flavour was yummy! We visited Gelerts grave. Can't wait to return.

Upon arrival we (mum, dad, and daughter) were greeted by the very friendly staff in the reception/shop, including the site ranger and a 'baby' stag beetle (in a jar). Directions were given to find the premium tent pitches, which were eventually found after a few passes through the site. Unfortunatly due to the recent weather the pitches were all rather muddy; we eventually settled for the best of a muddy bunch. After pitching our brand new tent in the rain we ventured to the toilet block, which we found very clean and tidy despite the surrounding mud. Having had a look at the rest of the site it is probably safe to say that the standard tent pitches are nicer than the premimum tent pitches.
We enjoyed a couple of nice days and walks, despite the weather. However, after returning from a walk on our 3rd day we noticed small foot prints across the roof of the inner tent of our bedrooms. Further investigations of the tents' living area revealed that there were some very hungry squirrels living in Beddgelert Forest, we found 5 large holes in roof of the inner tent! Due to this unfortunate situation we left the campsite 2 days early.
We all agreed that despite these events we would come again dependent on the weather and the grey squirrel situation.

Just spent a wet bank holiday at this site! Lovely site though, although would recommend spending a bit of time having a walk round the site if you are offered a choice of where to pitch your tent to get a feel for it. We were offered a pitch on the 'Village Green' at the front of the site, but initally felt it was too close to the entrance and playground. A couple of the wardens then walked us round and suggested a few pitches, and we ended up down a path near a stream under trees. Ground was very hard and grassed area next to us was churned up from previous cars and too wet to pitch on. It seemed ok though and had lots of privacy and quiet until night, when the water coming off the trees was very noisy on the roof of the tent. Also was very dark and muddy and not as close to toilets/showers etc as we would have hoped for, and possibly a little too isolated.
Otherwise, facilities were good, no queues for showers or washing up, and site was quiet at night (apart from wind and rain!). Had no problems with midges, and wildlife on site was interesting.
Shop on site was well stocked, and provided the basics as well as a fairly good range of camping/caravanning tools and bits that you may have forgotten or run out of.
Site is close enough to walk to Beddgelert, although bring a torch for the walk home, although take care as footpath is limited!

We loved this site and will be visiting again soon !
Lots of pitches are amongst trees and in their own own wooded clearing which really appealed to us ! We had our own large clearing next to a stream ,surrounded by trees ,it was the best pitch we have ever had!
Staff were really friendly ,and cannot do enough to help ! we were even made a cuppa by the management whilst we were chatting one day The dog walk is a whole forest ! with 2 streams that leads to a miniature railway and beyond ( disused at the mo but is being extended and should be in use by next year )
Beddgelert (pronounced something like Bethgellit we were informed ?) village is very pretty and has plenty of places to eat .There is a walk from the campsite into the village ,avoiding the road and instead going over hills and through woods and fields ,a lovely walk .
Lots and lots of excellent walks nearby for all abilities ,advise buying a walk guide for the area to find the best ones.
The facilities on site are excellent and fit in well with the surroundings too .
I could have summed this campsite up in one word ( but webby insists on a more lengthy approach ;) )
PERFECT!

Took the Coleman Wyoming to this site in the middle of the Summer holidays along with the two kids.
The ground was very hard and we had to buy some rock pegs from the shop. Fortunately, the shop was very well stocked and able to help us out.
The campsite was very busy but we managed to find a spot but we were bombarded by midges from dusk onwards and found it very difficult to sit outside after dark. Please be warned to bring some insect repellent - you will need it!
Also, we had a squirrel visit our tent while we were out who helped himself to some of our bread so make sure you put all your food away - we were warned so it was our own fault.
The staff and rangers were excellent and very friendly and would recommend the kids activities and the evening bat watching. We purchased a Forest Experience Card which, not only got us money off the pitch price but also got money off the kids activities.
Would definitely return to this campsite but would perhaps try the electric hookup area as that seems to be a bit flatter and not so crowded.

On arrival at this lovely site we were greeted in reception by one very friendly smiling lady, and one rather abrupt and unsmiling lady, however later on in the week unfriendly lady was ok so I assume she was having a bad day when we arrived.
The site is in a gorgeous location, we had a bit of trouble locating a premium pitch (without a picnic table) having to drive around a few times, and finally settling on one nearish to the toilet blocks as we had a wheelchair with us.
The site is very hilly, as is to be expected, and although there is a disabled toilet and shower it was quite difficult actually getting to the toilet blocks (an electric wheelchair or strong carer necessary), once there the disabled facilities were clean and reasonable, but would benefit from a few more adaptations to make them more disabled friendly. The ordinary shower blocks were fine, mostly clean, sometimes alot of water on the floor in the shower area, some showers better than others, the water was always hot, possibly too hot in the sinks, and we had to use a flannel to operate the push down hot tap at times. The washing up sinks were always clean (apart from the odd bit of food!) and hot water plentiful, with clean cloths provided to wipe down.
The childrens play area was good, with a couple of benches opposite, handy for parents to sit and supervise. My kids loved exploring this site and paddling in the streams. We found the site shop to be well stocked and reasonably priced.
The pitches are quite rough so an extra groundsheet is a good idea, and some slope alot so chocks & blocks needed for caravans, and make sure you've got plenty of midge repellent they were out in force while we were there! The site did get very busy towards the weekend and the tent fields began to look very packed, there was also quite alot of noise and movement late on around the site, but the weather was gorgeous and sound was carrying easily.
There is lots to do in the surrounding area, Beddgelert is a lovely village if rather busy at times and it's a nice easy wheelchair walk to Gelert's grave. There is also a very reasonably priced camping shop.
Overall we loved this site and I'm sure we'll return here again.

It is probably the type of site that Carlsberg would make if they made campsites. Although a large site, the pitches are interdispersed amongst the trees, so that an intimate atmosphere is maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful to an amazing extent; you get the feeling that they own the site and are not mere employees. The ground is hard and rock pegs will be required. The special duty plastic pegs are no good as we found to our cost and yes you can benefit from extra ground cover; but it is small price to pay for such a wonderful site.
We have already booked again in September for when the wrinkly rate again comes into force.

A real get away from it all. Lovely location in the heart of the forest. The tent pitch areas are not marked out and it is left to campers to abide by the 6 metre rule between pitches. We initially found it difficult to find a space within 6 metres as the campsite was full to overflowing. Eventually squeezed into a nice location in a clearing close to a tranquil running stream.
The idyllic combination of water and forest inevitably leads to midges making themselves known. As long as you are prepared for this, along with some insect repellant spray, this shouldn't be a problem. However, a family who had pitched next to us curtailed their stay because of this very reason.
The shop/reception is open from 9am to 8pm at peak season and sells a variety of goods from washing up bowls and kettles to bacon, milk, eggs etc. Also has a coffee / tea machine available.
Our only niggle was the shower blocks and toilets, particularly the men's, which were in need of updating. The free shower produced a trickle of cold, followed immediately by boiling hot water. Also scalding hot water in the washroom taps - beware of this with children.
Apart from this, our stay was very enjoyable. Beddgelert is a beautiful village with plenty of long walks and a lovely ice cream shop serving unusual flavours like turkish delight and pecan with butterscotch.
All in all, I would recommend this site for a relaxing short break.

We loved this campsite, my favorite so far. Situated in Snowdonia just outside of Beddgelert. We arrived a bit early due to rain forcast and was greeted by a wonderful smiling lady who showed us were to pitch, all the details about the camp and a list activities for the families.
This is a very large campsite set amongst the forest and you really feel hidden away. We had ehu with our tent and there are only 6 for this use so book early for electric. I highly recommend extra groundsheet protection as these pitches are on hard rock ground so will also need rock pegs too. We did see some tents pitched in the caravan section but will still need that protection as they are all hardstanding pitches. Also make sure all food is in containers as the squirrels will try to get your food.
The bathrooms here were spotless the whole time of our visit even though it poured buckets the entire weekend. You get lots of student groups there, but never heard them and certainly didn't leave a messs behind either. There are a good amount of shower stalls and a baby bath in the ladies room. All the sinks are behind closed doors which is nice if you just need to change and do a quick washup. The showers are scalding hot, not good when pregnant. There is also a large washing up room as well as washers and dryers in another room.
Some pitches did get muddy but nothing that can't be cleaned off. There is a narrow railway that runs through the top of the camp that is a work in progress to lengthen the line through. Looks like there may be a platform for stops at the camp too. There is a shop with basic needs and snacks along with DVD rentals and a community room. Lots of brochures for the area too.
The camp is about a mile outside of Beddgelert and there is a bus stop at the entrance if needed. Beddgelert is a very small village with no major grocery store so best to get food in from home. There are quite a few pubs and B&B's that serve food. 1 store sells some staple items but is very narrow inside and pricey. There are some unique gift shops that are very reasonable and a camping supply store that is well stocked if you need anything while camping. There are some beautiful walks around the Beddgelert area. Betws-y-Coed is not a far drive and a beautiful place to spend the day. You're not far from the beaches or even the Wales Zoo for great days out. The only money we spent on our days out was at the zoo.£23 for our family of 4.
You don't have to leave the camp for amazing walks as all you have to do is walk out the backside to find lots of marked or graveled trails with wonderful views! We loved it here so much that we plan on going here yearly.
If you need a non electric tent pitch, there are a few differnt locations. There is a large feild at the reception area, I suspect that this is for those who want to come and go when the gates are locked. Then there is another feild, they are situated by the river on mostly level ground and are unmarked. I imagine it gets very busy during holidays and it's a bit more open than the ehu pitches but still secluded. Then there are more near the bathrooms so you really have a good selection of pitches.
You will save money if you have the forest experince card or the ccc membership. Would recommend the ccc membership as this will allow you the discount for Forest Holidays and the use of CCC campsites.
