Just returned from spending new years eve and the night before here. The site is lovely - hard standings were a bit muddy though. The toilets are fine and showers look good. There is a shop on site and a good kids playarea with wooden play gear. You can walk down a footpath into Beddgelert. You have to pay £3 for an ehu but that's reduced to £2.50 in summer. It cost us £18.30 for each night - each child is £2 - that seemed dear to be honest but I will come here again as it's a lovely area and only a couple of hours away.

My second stay at this campsite 4 nights over the august bank holiday. Overall, once again I was pleased with this site. Its staff were friendly, but only as a duty to their jobs. The facilities were good, but unfortunatly the clealiness of the toilet block was not very good. It is understandable as the site was very busy, but still, the toilets (both gents and ladies) were smelly and dirty! The shower blocks were better and cleaner. :)
The biggest problem encountered were the mige, which seemed to be armour piercing! be warned! As I said the site was full, but past 11 pm it became quiet, which was a good thing. I would recomend those who think of using this site to get there early on busy periods, if you want to get a good pitch. Overall score 8/10

May 2005 Just got back after a stay over the Bank Holiday weekend. Lovely site with pitches nestling amongst the trees or ones in more open areas on the lower fields. The children loved the play area. Showers were ok but as the site was full often had to wait for one. BEWARE - our car was broken into on the first night with lots of stuff taken. MIDGES - these were also a huge problem. Unless we had the BBQ on (smoking them out) it was almost impossible to sit outside without a swarm around you.

May 2005 One word is miggies thousands of them nothing gets rid of them spray, smoke, candles etc tried the lot. If you like them you'll be ok otherwise you will be bitten alot. Best to stay in the tent if you don't want to get bitten.
Toilets and showers were quite clean but some of the toilets were blocked. They could be serviced a bit more often to keep ontop of the problem.
Site was very busy and there is a curfew at 11pm any noise after 11 you will be threatened with eviction. No camp fires alowed and in warmer drier weather no bbq's either.
Pitching tent was difficult due to loads of rock so you could not get the pegs in deep enough which caused a bit of a problem with the wind.

March 2005 We visited the site over Easter, having booked the day before. We phoned the campsite direct as the Forest Holidays central number just had a recorded message saying the site was full! We were advised on arrival we would be best to pitch on the green as we have a large tent, near reception and the play area. This was ideal for us as there were other families there and we could watch our two children at the play area.
The site was very busy, but we never had to wait for showers etc and there was always loads of hot water. The showers and toilets were always very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, there is a small shop on site which does cater for the basics.
The site is spread out on the side of a wooded hill and there are all weather pitches available. Bedgelert is a lovely little village but is not ideal for young chidren as the streets are very narrow, with loads of parked cars and not many pavements. There is the most fantastic ice-cream shop ever - well worth a visit or two!
I would definatley recomend this site, as it is clean and well run with great staff, and is an ideal base for exploring this part of North Wales.

October 2004 we stayed at this site in the half term holidays in oct. The site is signposted but not too noticeable, as we drove straight past,so be aware! We were able to pitch where we wanted, dont pick the first pitch you see, my advice is to get out of tour car and walk around the site, as there are plenty of little nooks dotted around. Nearly all of the touring pitches are hardstanding, but not that level,so levelling blocks are needed, also needed will be a torch as the site is lighted by little waist high lights.
We found the toilets and showers to be really clean, and there was always plenty of hot water. The shop was not stocked particually well, but i think this was due to the fact that they were closing the week later. If you want a site where you can forget the rest of the world, this is the site, the surroundings are so pretty, the wildlife includes squirrels, rabbits, robins, finches and many more... We will definately be going back to this site again.......

August 2004 This was a nice campsite. We stayed over the bank hols and.
Pros: Friendly staff, site shop, picnic benches. Hair dryer in the womens shower block!
Cons: its a pitch anywhere site, so be prepared, and arrive early! The "all weather pitches" are rock hard and really unconfortable. Also, they do not drain that well. Most of the pitches are shadowed by big trees, which mean that the sun does not get to them, and thus its quite damp, especially if its been raining. A few more showers would be useful.
Overall, i would give this site a 7/10 rating. its close to the main attraction of the areas, as well as Betys and caenarfon.
Just one warning, all the food outlets in Beddgelert close at 9 pm sharp. so if you get there late, and want food, head to Porthmaddog!

May day 2004 First visit to this site, a bit dissapointed. Shower's were dirty with mud which walker's decided to use to clean their boot's (very selfish if you ask me). Good thing was walking up mountain and forest to lake at top, fantastic view! Nice walk to village and Beddgelert grave.

june 2004 The site is situated in a very picturesque part of Snowdonia National Park and is approx 1 mile from the town of Beddgelert which is worth a visit with its cafes and hotel bars.
The site is clean and well maintained and is operated on “camp anywhere” basis so it would be best to book early if there are more than a few tents in the group. There are also “play areas” which would be excellent for children
It is reasonably priced with the only downsides being the rather puny showers, the lack of lighting round the site on a night (bring a torch and remember where you pitched up as the site can be a bit of a maze) and the rather ferocious speed bumps.
Overall it is a very good site due to its location alone and is an excellent base to explore the surrounding areas.

May 03 and April 04 Visited last year and had a great time despite rain!!! So decided to go Easter 04 and take 4 other families with us. Oh dear, not sure what's happened on this site but there seem to have been changes in the way things are run. The site itself is fantastic, really pretty, however you can no longer choose pitches, first come first served, which proved a problem for some bigger vehicles, I even saw one poor person having to site virtually on top of the motorhome waste area. The lovely big shop has shut down. The showers were filthy, and some were out of order. The toilets were backed up and had to be shut aswell. Manager didnt seem to know how to deal with everyone, it was jam packed. Requests for extra nights were declined, even though we stayed longer and there were plenty of spare pitches when people left on Bank Hol Monday. I think the authority has been taken away from managers on site and the site is in effect being run from Forestry commision head office - in Scotland. Its a real shame and I hope things improve, as the area is really lovely.
