We arrived on Sat 4th May at 1. 15 pm to be greeted with a closed reception ? What's that all about over a bank holiday weekend, they re opened at 2pm must be really difficult to split lunches.
The site was really good, excellent pitch sizes and plenty of space for the boys to play.
Shower rooms and toilets had no soap available, but they were always clean and plenty of toilet roll available.
We were 2 family's, 2 adults and 2 boys in one and 2 adults and 1 boy.
The girls went to sort the tickets for the pool and the dads erected the tents.
The girls paid £18 for each family and the boys used the pool for 1. 5 hours on the Saturday, they had coffee and watched the boys.
They returned on the Sunday only to find the pool closed until 3pm which it does state on the small opening hours sign on the door, they returned and used the pool for 1. 5 hours again only this time the ticket was not returned as they had used it twice which to be fair is what we paid for, I went to reception and found the staff to be most unhelpful, I explained that £9 a swim for my boy was over the top I had the reply it was my fault I should have used the pool.
It is a pity the reception staff are not as sensible as the pool staff, they realised they had charged as 2 single families when the could have charged for 1 and then pay for the extra child good customer service they let them in on Monday FOC.
The boys were at the bar were we found it a bit difficult getting served as we are not owners.
There was a constant stream of customers for the Sunday carvery and the food did look good, beer was excellent and not over priced.
The chippy was also excellent.
We would all return to this site as it had all we could ask for.

Firstly I want to caveat this review by saying that we normally camp rather than stay in a van and prefer small, quiet, camp-sites with few facilities and so it is fair to say that any negatives I point out will be biased by this.
Firstly the good:
-The site is in a great location, the beach is beautiful and even during the sunny whit school holiday did not feel crowded (especially arriving there early-ish and walking a hundred metres north rather than plonking ourselves down right next to the boardwalk)
-Everything seemed v clean and well-maintained. The bins were emptied regularly and never smelt and we often saw people fettling the site (strimming/ mowing etc)
-The shop is v handy and reasonably priced. Seemed to have rather too much space given to selling tat but having said that, the kids loved it and spent ages working out what to spend their holiday money on!
-Chippy is good, v nice fish in particular. All a bit greasy (if I'm being critical) but you don't go to the chippy for health food :)
-Swimming pool was quite good but a bit crowded (kids enjoyed it) though I'm not sure I'd have felt it was value for money if we'd paid separately for it. Loads of chlorine in the water, even sitting on the side, one afternoon I could feel my eyes prickling. Pool staff all v nice and nice to have a cafe for spectators.
-Although the site was very busy as it was half term and there were plenty of kids playing/racing around, the site was really quiet past 9/10pm
And the less good:
-caravans seemed quite packed in (maybe this is how they are on any site? I have nothing to compare to) but when we went for a nosey at the tent field, that seemed much roomier.
-the 'restaurant'/bar/entertainment side wasn't for us. I'm sure if you want somewhere with this laid on then it is great but that's not us and so we felt a bit like fish out of water on the site.
-playground was a little bit intimidating for our 2 & 4 year olds at times as lots of bigger kids around (and teens hanging round too)
-perhaps because it is a big site, all felt rather impersonal and cold, not helped by the ugly buildings. Also, I'm sure you have to have rules in place to run a site as well as this one is but it doesn't make it feel friendy & relaxed.
-dog poo! Not on the site itself but on the route to the beach (which I think might be owned by the site??). Lots just off the boardwalk, a bit on the boardwalk and a lot of it left in bags and dumped (what is that all about?!). Not the fault of the site owners but really brought the place down
Around and about (sorry not much to mention as the weather was mostly nice and all the kids wanted to do was play on the beach!):
-Harlech Castle is a great day out, really worth a visit. Would recommend getting there early as we did and got parked v easily and were one of the first in which was great but came out to find hoardes of people in Harlech
-Good Luck chinese in Barmouth. Would give it a swerve (if you google it, the top return says something like 'the worst chinese takeaway in the world' which is probably too harsh but it wasn't good.
Overall, on paper this should be a 9/10 site and yet it just didn't feel friendly and welcoming and so I can't rank it more than a 7. (but again, most of my negatives stem from a big site being not really my thing so perhaps I'm too harsh). If you want a big site in a great location with plenty of facilities and entertainment laid on then you'll love it.

Park clean and tidy chip shop good and pub, meals looked nice but we just had chippy. Friendly owners but cater for statics and there owners more than the tour's pitches lovely and big but could do with some tlc as do the toilet blocks and showers very old building but reasonably clean. Loads of room for the children to play.
BUT. The cost of to use the pool is terrible they really should have 1 free swim per unit per day like other sites in there area as it is not the cheapest per night for touring!
Will we visit again?? Really not sure as it was very off putting.

This is a fantastic familly site, I went here in August with my Daughter and her friend [ we previously came here in 2010 and enjoyed it back then]
Location wise it couldn't be any better, it's off the main road and literally right on the beach, with just high sand dunes to walk through, the beach is ideal of teh kids and adults can walk for miles, you just need to be aware that there is a naturist beach about half a mile walk away.
On site we had an electric hook up, with two girls this was essential! the pitches were flat which is a bonus and well marked out,
The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate, apart from when someone decides they need to wash dirty boots in the sink! you do need tokens for the shower and hairdryer points, these were 50p each [10 minutes in the shower, 30 minutes for the hairdryer, apparently]
Onsite shop was good with essentials fpr when you run out and toys for teh kids, there is a spar and butchers 5 minutes up the road for everything else and a supermarket in Barmouth which is 10 minutes away by car.
The on site pub / restaurant / entertainment was good the girls enjoyed the usual camp entertainment and I enjoyed the bar, the staff were really nice and helpful. Also food in the restaurant was fairly priced and really nice.
With Barmouth just down the road, Harlech castle the other direction and port mirion about a 30 minute drive, I think.
This was a great campsite and well placed, we will definitely be going back again, we just need better weather!

Stayed here for seven nights in our tent with our twin grand kids in August.
Best thing about this location is the beach, it is without doubt brilliant. Super safe for kids, great sand for sand castles etc and a safe ledge to the actual sea (no sudden drops into deep water etc)
The site was busy when we arrived (a Friday) and sadly our neighbours were what you might call a little rowdy and noisy, thankfully they left Sunday afternoon.
The pitches are a decent size (we had a EHU pitch) and the grass was short and flat. The ground was easy to get pegs into and for once I managed to peg the tent out without finding a single stone or brick.
We didn't use the club or any of the other facilities apart from the on site chip shop which also has a cafe attached to it for early morning bacon sarnies or full English fry ups.
Kids liked the small playground but it did get to look like a litter site while we were there. That's down to the campers of course but perhaps staff could clean it up each morning.
There did seem to be quite a few family groups that met up at the site and this added to the nice friendly atmosphere.
Toilets were clean and the 10 minute shower card (50p each) was enough for me and the two muppets to shower and wash hair etc. Water was nice and warm and never had to queue at all.
Lots of leaflets and info at reception.
Highly recommend this site for younger kids. Would certainly go again.

Having used this site to pick Dyffryn Seaside Estate for our week's holiday, I thought it only fair to add a review of our experiences.
Arrival: Firstly - do not rely on Googlemaps sat nav to get you the final half a mile to this site. We did just that and ended up down a narrow track with no room to turn around with a padlocked metal gate in front of us with the Reception tantalisingly close just the other side of the gate. You need to turn down the side of the church (a brown information sign is there to follow but we came at it from the opposite direction and took the sat nav turn).
General site: The site is very flat and incredibly clean. At night it is lit well enough to be able to walk to the clubhouse, toilets, etc without needing a torch, but not too light that it interferes with sleeping. The pitches themselves (we had a tent pitch with electricty and water) were spacious, well marked out and well maintained.
Facilities: The toilets are well lit, clean and we never had to wait for toilets or sinks. At night time portaloos are opened in each paddock so that you don't have a long trek to the main blocks. These again were very clean and a nice touch. The showers were very clean, water temperature was just right, and we felt that 50 p for the shower card was money well spent for a 10 min shower. Again, never had to queue. Only criticism is that they close a little early we felt at 8. 00 pm.
Shop/Club/Swimming Pool: The shop was reasonably well stocked and prices on par with our local corner shop back home. Beer/wine was same price as home and very well chilled from the fridges. The fresh organic free range eggs were fantastic! The club was small and friendly, great for the kids with reasonable evening entertainment each night. Pool table and a few video games as well. Outside was a playground and a large field for games and burning off steam without bothering campers. Our kids loved the slush refils for £2. The swimming pool was very nice, clean, but too much chlorine in the water. The sauna and jacuzzi were great, but the steam room was out of order which was a shame. The highlight though was definitely the £5 saver menu for meals in the club. Absolutely wonderful value, great quality and as good as anything I have paid three times as much for.
Beach, the beach is absolutely wonderful. Miles of clean, flat sand with no pebbles or slimy bits. A great walk through the dunes to get to it.
Overall, we would recommend this site. Interestingly, everyone we spoke to during the week were regular visitors to the site having returned many years in a row. I think this site is a bit of a gem, that many people return to year on year - our kids have already demanded a return visit next summer.

We were very impressed with this site and will definitely return. The beach was really lovely and an easy walk through the sand dunes. Such a shame we were here for the storms and rain of half term. The pitches were enormous and the kids had lots of room to run around and play, a real change to not feel as if you are experiencing you neighbours every sound.
The toilet blocks were ok but quite a walk from our pitch- the main problem was no soap at all. I think this is disgusting in a public area, and a real penny pinching exercise by management. We didn't use the showers as we had paid for the swimming pool and had a shower there after our morning swim. The pool is small but nice and warm and quite reasonable in price.
The shop was quite good, selling the usual, and the nearest shops etc were a car drive away so its useful to have something on site. The club was small and very busy ( due to the terrible weather no doubt)but we preferred the 10 min walk up the lane to the nearest pub, which had a nice play area for the kids and was near to the train station( print off a time table at home before you come- the information on site was hopeless). This pub was great but pricey for food.
All in all a good site and I can see why many people return year upon year.

We stayed here for the Easter weekend this year. Our party was 2 adults, a 5 year old & a dog. On arriving at the site at 1310 on Good Friday, reception was closed for lunch. This was not a good first impression. We waited until 2 for them to re-open, & were told where to pitch with the aid of a site map. The site mainly has one side for statics, then an area for caravans, & a lot of space for tents with EHU (which we had, & tripped a few times over the weekend for all users in our area), & even more for tents without.
The pitches are spacious, & separated by unobtrusive wooden fencing. There were 4 pitches in a row, then a large space in front, & 4 pitches then facing you. The space in the middle was great for the kids, who were riding bikes & flying kites etc The pitches are flat enough, & the site was very clean. The toilets are a bit of a trek from where we were, & as an example, the family in the pitch behind us drove regularly to the toilet block !
The blocks themselves were very clean, the shower cubicles were large, & hot (no temperature control), but were on a timer (10 mins) & you had to buy a card from reception for 50p to use them.
The shop on site was well stocked although pricey (as expected), the bar was reasonable, but the on site Fish & Chip shop was great & cheaper than the local chippy at home (not expected).
The kids playground was ok, nothing extravagant, but was spacious for ball games etc : The sand beach is about a 10 minute walk (more or less depending where you are on the site) & very nice. You can take dogs on the beach, but only 1 side at certain times of the year.
The clubhouse had entertainment on Easter Sunday for the kids which was a bonus.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay, despite the poor weather, but whilst I cant fault the site in cleanliness, I would not stay here again. This is partly due to my opinion of closing the reception for lunch on a Bank Holiday weekend, then the toilet block being a trek away from the tent area, & mainly because the site didn't have a welcoming feel to it. I cant pinpoint exactly why that is, but that's how I felt, & I wont be returning.

This is a very large site but mostly static caravans, we being in a touring caravan where in a 'paddock' with 20 other caravans, which got busy with most of these having at least 2 cars! Pitch was adequate in size for caravan, awning and a car. Toilets were clean however a little dated, and no soap provided! and 1 hand dryer for 12 toilets, 8 sinks is not adequate. Felt sorry for those camping as they had a long walk to toilet block, however, a portaloo was in middle of very large field! not that I would fancy using that in the middle of the night! fish and chips lovely, able to eat in or out and shop provided well. Great location for beach with a 5 minute walk to wonderful and clean golden sand. Entrance to road of site can be ominous to a novice caravaner due to the narrowness of the road, especially when oncoming traffic is determined they are going first!

Booked this site for a week in August. Only booked last minute and was bit worried as it seemed rather a large site - not what we would normally book.
Have to say greeted very friendly on booking in and was given a map with our tent pitch number and directions. Pitches very spacious and each one has there own water tap.
The site had club and swimming pool which we didn't bother with at all so cant comment.
The shop stocked everything you would need. You didn't really have to leave the site.
The site itself is situated in a great spot over the dunes and a great decking walkway built by the site leads to the beautiful beach were we spent nearly all week due to the great weather. It has a pub with a play area which is great as you can have a drink and watch them play.
Toilets were not that great. There was no toilet paper at all in any of the toilets which is very bad considering the size of the site. The showers you had to pay 50p for and sometimes there was a wait. I have experienced better facilities than this but then the price of the pitches are reasonable £25. 00 a night with electric.
We only left the site to go to Barmouth which is a short ride away with the fair, shops and donkey rides for the kids.
Would possibly go back but not keen on the toilets
