We have just returned from a long weekend at this campsite. I find it very difficult to find fault with this site. The facilities were well maintained, and the staff were very friendly/helpful.

The added bonus of being a 2 minute walk to the beach means a return visit to the site is a must.

We spent a day in Barmouth (5 min drive) and two days on the beach. If the weather's not great, you've also got the option of using the leisure facilities for a small charge.

There was plenty to do on the site including a club house and a lovely chip shop. Both of which are reasonably priced.

Roll on the next trip to Dyffryn Seaside Estate.

Didn't book beforehand, just turned up & paid for 2 nights (£34). Were left to pitch wherever we wanted & chose the overflow field overlooking the children's playground which was excellent - felt very safe for them. Field could do with more water points as their is only one.Be warned if you pop out to the loo in the middle of the night their are hundreds of rabbits !

Just a short walk to the great beach. Facilities on site were great, everything you needed. Looked in the pool, looked nice but as we were only their for 2 days didn't bother to use it. Fish & chips excellent.

Overall had a fab 2 days, felt very relaxed & stress free. Very safe to let the children (age 6 & 2) have a bit of freedom & would definitely go back to this site.

We have just returned from our second visit to Dyffryn and we are gutted we had to leave. We had glorious weather again! It was quite busy over the bank holiday week end but never had to wait more than a few minutes for showers etc.

We ate in the fish and chip shop and the service and food were lovely. We did hear a bit of an argument going on in a nearby tent but the owners were doing doing security checks (11.30pm ish) and they very quickly sorted it out.

We visited shell island (£5 for the day) which was lovely but a bit too busy. Nanctol waterfalls was good too if you like a nice walk but quite steep in places.

Dyffryn was again very safe for the children and will defo go again soon!

Lovely site, with a poor website! I booked purely from this site's reviews, and couldn't have been more pleased. Well spaced out pitches with own hook up and water, in paddocks of about 10. They also have large fields for non electric camping, we moved into one when we decided to stay another day.

Very dog friendly, short stroll to the beautiful beach, toilets were always spotless, bar and entertainment good.

Showers close in the evening, a bit of a pain when you return at dusk from sweaty day out! But they were hot and clean. It got a little noisy at kicking out time, but it only takes one rowdy family to leave its mark.

The overflow camping field is closest to the beach, and was empty even in high season. Would be perfect if a group of people wanted to pitch together without hassle. I got spooked during an early hours foray to the loos when a pick up drove up behind me, but it was the site warden taking a drive round the pitches to check all was ok, a great idea when the wind is up as someone may well have needed a hand.

Take good pegs or deltas as the wind can appear suddenly, and can be quite strong, although it is a fairly sheltered site.

Railway station only ten minutes away, and carries local trains as well as a steam one during the week, perfect for enthusiasts!

My only less than perfect thought was that they could have made more use of a lovely site with a more detailed website and information on local events, but then I wouldn't want it to get too busy as it is just about perfect!

Will be returning very soon, an ideal family site.

Back to this site again, and it just keeps getting better.Improvements are.Recycle bins, porta loos on the furthest away fields, and the boardwalk is back to the beach.

Bins are labelled clearly and there is a choice of card, bottles, tins and the regular bins, which are still emptied daily

Porta loos: only opened between 9pm and 8am, so if you get cut short in the night you don't have to go far.

The boards to the beach are better than ever stretching right up to the top dune. This makes it better to walk on, and for push chairs.

Other facilities are still top notch and spotless, but do with a soap dispenser on loos though. Or do as I do and hide a piece.

There is only one gripe I have and this site does not have a family/disabled toilet.

We are just back from Dyffryn Seaside Estate, our first camping trip as a family. It was initially our second choice, we had planned to go to Shell Island but their website said they were full. We arrived at Dyffryn last Friday evening (7th August) and booked in without difficulty. Although they were very busy we did still have a choice of pitches and went on the one of the main paddocks rather than the overspill field nearer the beach. Nice and flat with plenty of space in the centre of the paddock. Sadly our friends were late arriving but luckily were able to pitch on the neighbouring field. That farmer must make a killing when the weather is good, picking up the overspill from Dyffryn and Benar Beach.

After a week on the site the following points spring to mind:-

~I am glad we went there not Shell Island (we went a took a peek around) as the facilities such as toilets and showers were much more easily accessible. The site itself was also more easily accessible.

~The addition of several free standing portaloos, available at night only, were a godsend!

~The shop sold just enough and the SPAR in the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy had a fabulous butcher's shop within it.

~ If you timed it right the showers were not busy. The girls only had to queue a couple of times in a whole week and at 50p for 8 minutes it is not unreasonably expensive. The water is nice and hot and contrary to earlier reviews 8 minutes is generally more than enough. My wife and daughter managed to share an eight minute shower every day without trouble, for me on my own it was way more than enough.

~ The beach is fabulous, absolutely fabulous. Only a small amount of litter, soft sand, very flat so good for the 'littlies' and lots and lots of space. For those who are interested there is a naturist area which is a sensible distance from the main beach access i.E. Not too far if you want to use it, not too close if you don't!

~ The sausages in the breakfast cafe were tasteless rubbish.

~ Fish and chips not at all bad, especially when busy and cooking virtually to order.

~Pitches are flat - perhaps too flat when there is a lot of rain as we noticed very boggy areas in several of the other paddocks. It pays to be a bit further away from the main facilities.

~ Soil very sandy and accepts pegs easily which means if the wind gets up you may suffer unless very well pegged down.

~ Super views of the surrounding hills on a clear day.

~ The lights in each paddock made the place feel very safe but well and truly ruined the views of clear night skies! Maybe the management should consider switching them off at midnight to reduce the light pollution and let the natural beauty of the area speak for itself.

Nearby:-

~ Barmouth is busy but with a good mix of shops etc. Unlike Porthmadoc which we found a nightmare to reach and very nondescript when we got there!

~ Harlech is difficult to park in if you are up by the Castle but it is worth the visit. The views are fab, especially when watching the sheep cross the rail line!

~ The Victoria public house in Llanbedr is busy but serves a nice steak at reasonable prices. The sausages in their kids meals again are nondescript!

It is a good site, its not 'off piste' camping, its quite regimented which is both good and bad. My wife, who had not camped since girl guides 25+ years ago, was happy that there were lots of facilities but as an experienced camper it felt too much like a holiday camp at times. We would definitely recommend it to families and inexperienced campers who would value the facilities. Also, to those who want to lie on a lovely flat beach all day with views to the Lleyn Peninsular.

My wife, myself and our 2 year old visited the site for our first ever camping holiday last August and, despite some very changeable weather, had a fantastic experience which has set us off camping whenever possible since!

The site and facilities are clean and well looked after. Check out other reviews about the showers, which are fine but the cards aren't perfect and they shut at the end of the day when I for one would really like to use them in the evening.

Shop and bar are pricey but no more than you would expect and I found all staff to be friendly and helpful.

The weather forecast had obviously put people off as we were expecting it to be packed, but it only got busy when the weather picked up and, even then, the pitches are so spacious it shouldn't be a problem.

The beach is stunning and definitely the highlight. Our daughter loved the playground and we loved its proximity to the bar so we could have a drink and watch her play safely!

The rain was horrendous and the wind can certainly blow! The site was understandably waterlogged when we arrived but we were amazed at how quickly it drained away and the staff certainly work their socks off to maintain the fields.

All in all a very good family site. I guess, like any other site, noise depends on who you pitch near, but we were fortunate to have very nice 'neighbours' - even when a group of lads (supposedly no groups?) pitched near us they were polite and kept the noise down when appropriate.

We are hoping to visit again this summer and would recommend it to others, especially with children for the amazingly spacious beach.

Just got back from this site, got really lucky with the weather. The beach is only a 5 min walk, the facilities were excellent except the showers could have been a little bit warmer, everything was clean and well run.

Now the bad bits, the rules say 'no groups' but we were unlucky to be right in front of a group of 20 ish yr olds, had to complain about the noise which was really tough to do as there was no one around to complain to, didn't sleep much on the Saturday and had a long drive home the next day.

Some dogs running free, and some dog dirt dotted around the place.

I would definitely recommend this site as I think we were just unlucky this time.

We visited this site first two weeks in August, staying in a trailer tent. The site was ok and well drained even after a torrential downpour.

We found the meals in the restaurant overpriced for what you got. The staff in all areas, restaurant, bar, reception & especially the shop was miserable, we never even got a smile or a good morning from any of the staff.

The showers were fine but you have to purchase a £1.00 card for two 8min showers, that's ok but invariably the second shower would not work because if you bent the card it just came up card error.

To sum up this camping experience, the site was ok, the staff were miserable and the prices in the bar high.

Visited this site in what the weathermen had promised to be a glorious week. They were wrong again! We chose here because of the reviews we had read on here and despite the weather we were not disappointed. The facilities were spotless, the showers were clean and we never had to queue, the only issue we had was with the shower cards. Our tip is to take two for every shower. Because one is sure to not work! although the office were always happy to exchange the dodgy ones.

The shop was well stocked with everything needed and prices were as you would expect, although take out alcohol was only available at the site bar and was expensive, but there was a spar not too far away which was fairly priced. The on site fish and chip shop was fab. Nice food and reasonable prices. Owners were pleasant and happy to chat.

The crowning glory of this site is without a doubt the beach. It was glorious.Only minutes away with a boardwalk to make things easier for pushchairs etc.Be warned though, there is a nudist beach about 10 min walk right on the beach which can be a little of a shock if not expected! It is well signed though so you can avoid it.

The weather meant we had to leave earlier than planned. Our tent was flooded. The site happily refunded our remaining fees and I'm sure we will not hesitate to use the site again.
