This was our first visit to Barmouth and our first venture camping with the whole family. 2 adults and 3 children aged 3,4 and 5.

The site was fantastic very clean and loads of space, Lots of fields where the kids can run and play a nice play area/park for the kids to play in. 2 mins from a fantastic beach which could have been anywhere in europe. The sand dunes where great for the kids. All the staff where helpful there's an afternoon magic show on Wednesdays for the children Dave the magician was very good with all the children even our 3 which where a bit of a handfull on the day. The shop stocks all the necessary items the bar prices are the same as your local pub. The showers and toilets where very clean.

The swimming pool was a great little addition and the kids loved it.

The chipshop is also worth a visit.

It can get quite windy so take plenty of good tent pegs and a couple of windbreakers and don't forget your suncream because even though we had a couple of windy days with some showers when the sun came out it was hot but you didn't realise this until the wind died down.

We are going to book again in the near future. Its a brilliant place we had a great time.

The shop does not sell alcohol so if you want a bottle of wine you will have to nip out to the shop. Dont turn right into Barmouth as I did turn left and there is a Spar about a mile away.

What would I change?

The leisure complex only sells 4 or 2 day passes and personaly I think it should also do 1 or 5 day passes. Children under 16 arnt allowed in the jaccuzzi and maybe this should be looked at and changed to with adult supervision?

It would have been nice to have a little more children's entertainment in the afternoons and early evenings. The kids loved the magic show and the Disco in the evening and would have happily gone again and again

The website does not do this place justice and needs an update so don't be put off by your first impressions of the website or the slightly confusing booking form that you can download.

These really are the only things I think I can say need to be looked at but then that's just my opinion.

I really should keep this gem of a site all to myself and tell everyone how terrible it is so that no one goes there but I can't. The road down to the site off the main Barmouth to Harlech Road can be a bit tight in places so be careful. From the drive up to the reception you can see that the people who run the place take pride in their site. If there's no one at the reception there is a note on the door saying pitch up and call back later

You have to book the electric pitches and your given a pitch number but otherwise it seems like you can pitch anywhere, just check first in case I'm mistaken. This is an excellent campsite just as previous reviews have already said. Exceptionally clean no litter anywhere around the main buildings, the odd bits in the camping fields. Toilets and shower rooms also exceptionally clean. Toilets always had toilet paper although no soap at the wash basins. Chip shop open from 12.30a.M until 10p.M in the week later at the weekend which also consisted of a cafe during the day (only sampled the chips which were lovely although expensive for the small tray but what do you expect your on holiday everything is that bit more expensive than at home they have to make a living).

A well stocked shop open every day from 8a.M till late. On site club that also sold food, sorry I can't comment on that one cause we don't drink. Laundrette with 3 washing machines and 3 driers also iron and ironing board (possibly not enough during the busy weeks of the holiday if this site fills up - this is a big site) £2 for a quick 50 min wash and £1 for 20 min dry. Childrens park (swings, slides, climbing frame, basket ball net) and an area for ball games all very clean and safe. The site is divided in to paddocks. Paddocks 1 and 2 are for touring caravans, some have been left there for the season (I don't blame them).

Paddock 3 and 4 (where we pitched) where all electric pitches all with there own water tap. There's approximatley 40 pitches all sectioned off with little fences, really private, stops kids running round the tents (not that we had that problem all the kids where well behaved). Then after that there was another 2 paddocks without electric but sectioned off with little fences for privacy with communal water taps. Then the far paddock I think had no little fences (didn't manage to get that far before we had to make a hasty retreat to our tent because of the rain). They also had another huge field nearer to the beach with some porta loos in the middle where the rabbits were running wild. The whole site is flat. The ground on our pitch was quite soft (I know we've had quite a lot of rain so it would be wise to take different pegs as we always do) We used some longer sturdy pegs for the guy ropes the silly little metal ones that come with the tents are no good especially if you experience the wind that we had all week.

Considering we had quite a lot of rain the area seemed well drained no puddles formed anywhere by us. Although the rules state dogs should be on a lead at all times and exercised away from the camping area and any dog mess picked up, check you pitch before you start laying out your tent. We noticed a few inconsiderate dog owners one who let there dog roam around doing his business on other pitches and one who actually tied their dog to the fence on another pitch while they pitched their tent. The rules also stated only 1 tent per pitch with no gazebo that wasn't the case either so you'll have to check with them. The walk to the beach took about 5 mins. They have put a path of decking through the sand dunes to make it easier to get on the beach although in some places the sand has built up so it would be difficult to push a pushchair or a wheelchair all the way without encountering some difficulty. Didn't see any security although there is only one way in past the reception and the whole area is fenced off I wouldn't think they needed it to be honest. Mainly families with young children. I felt my 10 and 11 year olds where safe going to the shop and playing on the park with out us watching over them. There where no old kids hanging around anywhere (whether that changes next time we visit I hope not it's little things like that which worry us parents)

A very quiet site after 11p.M all you could hear (when the wind died down) was the sea (it wasn't that busy really so that may change). £20 per night with electric this is really cheap for what this site has to offer. Absolutely brilliant. We are going back in a couple of weeks with some more of our family. Hopefully the weather will be a bit more kind to us. A+ site.

Fantastic! Me and my husband took our two children aged 3 and 5 and we all had a fantastic time. The camp site was right next to the beach, sheltered from the sand dunes, and the walk to the beach could not have been more beautiful.
Even though the camp and caravan site was full, the showers, toilets and all areas were immaculate at all time of day. We did not have to leave the site as there was a children's play area and a bar that served decent drinks at reasonable prices ( £8 for two glasses of wine and 2 cokes).
The only downside was that the otherwise well stocked shop could have benefited from selling cold items to eat (sandwiches, sausage rolls etc) to take onto the beach or provided a communal freezer for the ice packs so you could make your own to take to the beach. The fish and chip shop was great but not what you would want to eat every day and the restaurant did wraps etc, but not to take away.
Other than this, we can not find another fault and will be returning soon!

We have just got home from a brilliant camping trip, this site had everything we needed. The separated pitches have more than enough room and we had our own water tap.
The facilities are excellent for younger and older children, and the beach was beautiful as the sunset. We were so lucky to have fab weather (77 degrees), but will say that with the clear skies it got quite windy at night so would recommend good strong tent pegs.
We didn't use the pool as the weather was so nice but had a look and its ideal if weather wasn't so good. We had fish and chips on the first night and the fish was lovely. The site was very well maintained couldn't fault it at all.Except one thing.
Not that I want to moan but the portable loos that are scattered about (which are ideal if your not near main loo) they got a bit smelly in the heat so could probably do with being checked more often. This site has best of both worlds nice and relaxing if you want it but bit of entertainment and pub too. Will definitely go back this year!

Mum Dad kids aged 8+6 just returned from this site after visiting for the 3rd time so now I think I can leave a valid review.

We only got into camping late last year so we have only been camping three times and only to this site so I cant really compare to others, the fact we have returned again and will do so again tells you we are very happy here,we also upgraded to a Vargo Amazon 800 tent(review to follow)which we had no problem with, despite website saying only tents of 5.5m sq. What I can confirm is the site is well run, all staff very pleasant, the toilets, showers, portaloo disposal all spotlessly clean, tidy immaculate. The estate has been busy working on improvements like the decking walkway from the carpark all the way to the fantastic beach(approx 300 yds)which was a very unexpected bonus as I have a dodgy knee and walking on the sand is a strain. There are extra electric hookups and your own pitch water supply. The shop stocks what I think you would expect from a campsite store, again the staff very welcoming and prices are very reasonable. The chip shop/morning cafe has just changed management,it has a varied and reasonably priced menu, the new owners were friendly and the fish recommended.

The club/restaurant was a very nice alternative to sitting outside our tent as the weather was changeable.Prices for alcohol a little on the expensive side but the food was very reasonable with good sized portions. The free entertainment while we were there was a very good children's dj/entertainer and a c+w duo,all very family orientated, not at all what you get at a big (Haven)site, which by our experience are very money orientated ie slot machines with no chance of winning, flashing lights and noise. I hope this review helps any would be visitors as previous reviews helped us to decide to give it a try. I think I've covered the major pluses and still cant think of any negatives.Oh yes the changeable weather but it was the end of April and we cant blame the site for this. The wife and kids all agree camping here have been our best holidays to date. Tom 6 says this place beats his xbox 360 and DS hands down

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Dyffryn, the site was very spacious, all the plots was fenced off which was great as nobody could camp to close to you and it had its own water supply with EHU which was a bonus. All the tents are in their own paddocks and the caravans are separate. This site is great if you have a dog as every unit seem to have 1 or more dogs and I must say it was kept very clean. It was very quite at night, the toilets was clean the showers was £1 which gave you 2 8 minute showers, please note that the showers opened at 8 am and closed at 8.30pm. The shop was well stocked, club was reasonably priced. There was a leisure complex on the site which you had to be a member, we didn't bother with that. The sandy beaches are lovely and clean are have great sand dunes for the kids to play on. There was decking which lead straight to the beach from the site so access is great if you have a wheel chair or a pram. We would definitely go back.

We have just come back from spending 8 very cold days, we didn't use elec hook up although we were pitched next to one. There was only us camping and a couple of caravans. The loo blocks were clean everyday, and they had plug points etc, it would have been nice to maybe have a shelf in the shower unit. Shower's cost £2 a card and you only get 8 mins each side, ok for the men but not good for ladies with long hair or children, shower head was very high above, so this could be a big problem with little ones.
You are very close to stunning safe beach but tent field is quite away from loos etc and very exposed. Playground was basic. As it was out of season shops and laundrette, pub and chip shop all closed so cant comment on them, staff were pleasant. Its a short drive to barmouth or you can get the train, you cant walk along the beach to barmouth even though you can see it!
Didnt use the pool but had a quick peek and it is quite small. If you don't want to hear the sound of traffic we would suggest that you do not camp or caravan in the fields next to the long entrance to the park.On the whole a very good site and very clean, too many things to list that will amuse you all in the surrounding area.

When we first arrived, I was a bit disappointed with the appearance of the site. The buildings are functional, and the camping paddocks are lacking in any character.

Over 9 days though it did grow on me! The location of the site is fantastic, with a short walk to THE most beautiful beach, and the mountains in the background. Also a short drive to Barmouth and Harlech, which we loved.

The site was very clean, and the facilities good although it wasn't very busy when we were there. Our kids loved the play area and enjoyed the freedom on the site.

The chippy was very good, but the restaurant was expensive and located in the evening entertainment area. The indoor pool (extra cost) was clean and warm, and well used by us because of the weather.

One disadvantage about the location of the site, is it is very exposed, and we had terrible weather. Very heavy rain and winds, which ruled out sitting out at night but it's only a short walk to Dyffryn which is nice for an evening as an alternative to the site entertainment.

I would like to visit the site again to make better use of the beach, but only when the weather forecast is good.

Just returned from a 4 day visit during the kids first week off school. We were pitched in Paddock 1 with EHU and its own water point. The size of pitch was just right for our Monti 6 with extension and still room fro the Car, Trailer and somewhere to sit outside. Paddock 1 is very close to the Toilets and Showers so there was some late night noise from chatter from people returning to their Pitches (this was never too excessive). It was also quite handy for the Well stocked shop and Takeaway, the Takeaway was very good and didn't seem to expensive as mentioned before.

Didn't use the Club House as we took our Dog.

There didn't seem to be many Staff on Site also mentioned before. The showers and Toilets were ok, but be warned! When I go to the Toilet I expect to be able to wash my hands, not here! no soap is provided so you only get to rinse your hands, and there is also only 1 hand dryer.

Beach is close and and very good, only a ten minute walk but this is hard going when its hot as its through the sand Dunes.

Sadly I never felt 'The Need for speed' as no Jets were landing on the Runway just 1/2 mile away :(

They were the week before though.

In general a nice site with a nice small pool. Just a bit tight getting to it down a narrow lane (Caravaner's you have been warned).

If you check my profile I will ad some pictures later.

Stayed at Dyffryn Seaside Estate over the early May Bank Holiday when surprisingly the weather was superb during the day but a pain at night with high winds. Looking at all the trees and shrubs that have been planted I suspect that the site is prone to windy conditions on certain pitches.
Anyway with regard to the site there were a few things that disappointed us. Firstly the pitch was a little tight for our Monty 6, side canopy and car but we did squeeze it on. Secondly I thought there was insufficient shower facilities for the camping fields as there were only 6 in both the male and female blocks. I would imagine that at peak times there could be 150+ tents on site. Saying that the shop was ok but small, the chip shop good but expensive, and we did not use the pub/club or the leisure facilities. The water points were a little sparce, there are no recycling facilities, and for a dog friendly site there are no dog bins. The site is well maintained, very presentable, and all the pitches are flat. The added bonus is that there is a glorious stretch of dog friendly beach only a 10 minute walk from the site.

We saw no staff on site so loud behaviour was unaddressed without complaining. We chose the site so that we could take our dogs with us but other dogs were allowed to run free and foul the site, and campsite rules were not enforced.

This would not be a site that we would visit in the height of the summer season as in our judgement the facilities would not be adequate if the site was full. However we would consider it again for a long weekend break early or late in the year.
