March 2005 We have just come back from our Easter holiday on this site and I have to say I was very unimpressed, having picked this site because of the good reviews it has received and the impressive website.
Firstly a warm welcome was certainly lacking, having arrived at the site at 1pm and we had already paid and booked a few weeks before, we had to wait an hour and a half before reception would open. In the end we had to just pitch without booking in first as we had our 8 month old son with us and as any parent knows a baby won't wait that long in the cold and for a feed. There is no welcome pack and I had a nightmare making my babys bottle up as we could not get any hot water since recption would not open even after I rang the bell. The shop is well stocked but if you need nappies or baby milk make sure you take them with you as the site and the two villages close by are limited as to what they stock.
We had constant problems with our electric supply and were only running a fridge and a heater most of the time. The staff are not welcoming in my opinion and when we went to enquire about a day pass for the leisure complex the girl was extremely rude. Beware also of the high charge for the leisure complex - the pool was far smaller than how it appears on the website and is housed in what looks like a hut. You have to pay extra for the solarium which is not mentioned on the website. Also there is not a lot of time in the day when you can actually make use of the facilities, and if you fancy a bit of evening swimming no chance it is then only for local members. We decided not to take the baby in the pool as you could smell the chlorine through the closed door.
The laundry room is also poor, looked good through the windows but as I don't really have time to do the washing in the day I went in the evening as most people do only to find it closes at 5pm.
Dogs are allowed on the site to be restrained at all times, however after a few aggressive dogs running around site loose and even coming into our tent! - I decided to complain however some dogs were still not restrained so beware if you have very small children.
Showers are 1.00 for a card which gives you 2 showers of about 8 minutes. When we visited one block was closed even though the site was quite busy and there was just 1 block open with 6 showers, 3 toilets and 3 basins. Many people had problems with the card meters and also some of the showers are extremely hot - I found number 2 and 3 to be the only ones the right temperature. Also they were not kept very clean and in 4 days I think they were cleaned once.
The camping field with hookups takes both caravans and tents, however for some reason where the site is sheltered from the elements with a tall hedge is where they have placed the caravan pitches leaving all the tent pitches very exposed to all the elements and also a walkway which can get very noisy at night.
The good points of this site are few compared to what I have listed. The pitches are a good size and well marked. The pub is very large and well decorated with 3 bars, plenty of seating and entertainment and they also serve food. The chippy and cafe are excellent if a bit small and it is a pity that the leisure complex staff and reception could not take a few customer service tips from the staff in the cafe who are very friendly and serve you very quickly.
It is in a beatiful setting with the beach 15 minutes walk away over the sand dunes. The beach is really beautiful and Barmouth town is only a short drive away. Barmouth is a lovely seaside town and Barmouth beach has trampolines, donkey rides and a funfair to keep the little ones amused.

March 2005 Booked this site because we were taking our 5yr old grandson for a holiday before Easter. We weren't told that even though it was school holidays the shop, bar and chippy would be closed, and the shower water unheated. For £17.00 a night we felt that we were misled. But imagine when everything is up and running it would be great.

August 2004 This site was excellent. At £10.00 a night it was excellent value for money. 10 minutes walk away from a very, very, clean flat beach. The chippy came in handy on the 1st night. (it was mega busy so had to wait a while, but that just built up our appetite even more!) Like the way the field is divided into little ones. So your children don't wander away. Will definately be returning next year.

September 2004 We spent a long weekend and we wish we'd spent a fortnight there instead, we didn't want to leave!! The facilities are immaculate, the pool is lovely, the staff are helpful, the chippy is perfect for supper after a long day at the beach and the beach.....who needs to go abroad for golden sands and clear blue sea! It's just a five mimute walk from the site and through the sand dunes. The site is very well laid out, we have a trailer tent so we stopped in the electric hook up area and you have loads of room to set up camp and park two cars if need be. The pitches are all positioned around the perimeter of the fenced field so theres plenty of space for little ones to play in safety. All in all we HIGHLY recomemend Dyffryn Seaside Estate and we can't wait to visit there again next year and this time it will be for a fortnight!!!!

August 2004 Flat site, short grass & plenty of space between tents. Pub & takeaway on site both of good quality. Site is close to a large sandy beach which is gently sloping therefore safe for children. Pricewise compared to some sites in other areas it is very reasonable. We will return!

august 2003 Lovely campsite we have visited three times now it is really well kept the showers and toilets are cleaned about six o clock in the morning. It is very close to a lovely beach with plenty to do in the area. A fully stocked on site shop good chippy for late night snacks and the restaurant is well worth a visit, the steak was delicious.
The only downside is that the shower block is locked at 9.p.m a little bit early when the whole family have been to the beach and had something to eat etc before showering.

Aug 2003 Ideal for children and beach lovers. Childrens play area. 30 mtrs from beach. Fees very reasonable. Good overflow site if main site full. Shops and fast food on site for campers who go "Self catering"

August 2003 Just to let all members know that we have just returned from our best camping holiday to date.....we have only been on 2 now lol.
We went to Dyffryn Ardudwy which is just outside Barmouth, the campsite was immaculate and the weather was even better. The thing that impressed me was that there was plenty of things to do around the area and also within the camp, the play area for the kids was in good condidtion the showers were neat and tidy. There is a shop on camp which seems to be fully stocked of most things, there is also a clubhouse/pub which has entertainment on most nights and also there is a chippy for those late night snacks.
Another good thing is that the beach is just a 5 min walk through the path in the dunes (for those interested there is a naturist beach nearby)
We were treated to the RAF practising their landing and taking off drills as there is an Airfield close by and I swear one of the pilots was waving to me as they flew by but dont worry they start about 10am for about 30 mins and then again later on for the same time.
The camp was really tidy and the bins are emptied daily.
One bad point was that there could be another toilet/shower block built at the far end of camping field, but that is the only bad thing I could think of.
Hope you enjoy as we did
Diane & Tony

May 2003 Have visited Dyffryn twice now since the first visit in May. Clean site, shower blocks immaculate, facilities very good. Value for money is second to none. We're only an hour and a half away, we'd be there more often if closer.
