We usually stay in a static caravan but the pitches looked so well looked after that we decided to try camping instead. We stayed for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend. We choose a great position, not far from the toilets / showers. The site staff keep everywhere litter free, the showers and toilets were kept very clean throughout. We did encounter a disturbance during one of the nights, but the site staff were there to sort it out. The chippy on site is excellent, the shop is well stocked and there is a great indoor pool (also very clean) which we used every day for an extra cost. The site is very close to Barmouth, Harlec and Shell Island, all worth a visit.

Four nights at Dyffryn (one tent and car @ £15 per night, we didn't book, peak season too).
Very open, spacious, tidy, quiet'ish site but getting busier towards weekends. Very friendly and helpful staff - we noted, but didn't use, all the facilities but you could stay on site and forget your car altogether.
Clean central facilities: shower cards are fiddly but hey! it'll make you save water and appreciate your on-tap stuff when you go home. If you need the loo quick, make sure you site yourself suitably. Otherwise being away from there will be quieter and pleasanter and the walk will Do You Good!
Dreamy scenic backdrop of the mountains and if you camp in the big field near the dunes you can hear the sea which is glorious.
You can also hear, unfortunately, a few army jets overhead in the mornings (local base). Be prepared as the noise can give you the willies. It doesn't last long. Bonus for those who loved Top Gun: expect tearing at zips to see, misty-eyed-ness and mutterings like 'Mav', 'Goose' and 'need for speed'.)
The beach is just gorgeous with views down into Barmouth Bay. There are tiny tiny stretches of gritty/pebbly shingle walking down to the edge (tinies might benefit from jelly-shoes they can wear in the water) but the waves are gently blusterous and the sand perfect and golden otherwise.
(I found it a bit uphill through the dunes but I am VERY unfit and you will probably find it easy. You'll have to come back for loos but of course this means the beaches are very clean.)
We stayed off the beach until 4pm and did other touristy things locally. Everyone else cleared off to have supper and either bed or going 'out'. What a bonus. We had that wonderful feeling of 'just us' on this lovely, lovely beach. (The weekends could be much busier - we were there Tue-Fri nights.)
Weather: it was fantastic for us. Apparently there is a geographic peculiarity (a couple of locals said this independently of each other) that whatever it's doing a bit further inland, a 'triangle', including Dyffryn, does it's own thing. One thing it did do (lots of us were caught out) was to severely drop in temperature once the sun goes down and if the skies remain clear. If it's cloudy, it's warmer and don't be discouraged by this, just do take extra warmth/ clothing in case for if/when this happens.
Do use the local train halt to get down to Barmouth which remains unspoiled and a gem - you can catch a real steam train from Barmouth to Porthmadog too. Other trips out: see Harlech Castle, it's fantastic; see Portmeirion and have tea on the hotel lawn, be warned, you will love it and want to stay for longer than a couple of hours.
Dyffryn — excellent: would definitely go again.

We went to this camp site in August as you can see. The weather was great we all got sun burnt. So take plenty of sun cream. The beach was beautiful. One of the best we have been to. We stayed with a EHU and the pitches were big enough for us and well kept. All the people were friendly. The shop was well stocked and handy for little things. The toilets were clean. There were a bit of a Que for the showers so I would not advise having a shower in the early morning. There is a park there for the children. A good friendly family site will definitely go again.

My family and I have been to Dyffryn for the past 2 years and I have to say it is awesome. There is nothing I can say that is bad about the place. The kids were entertained all day and night with the park, swimming pool, games room and just a walk over the dunes to the beautiful sandy beach which is also dog friendly, oh and did I forget to mention the excellent entertainment at the club house every night, great fun for the kids and the Mums 'n' Dads. The shop pretty much covers all your needs and the chippy has a good variety of food if you want a break from the BBQ. The toilets, showers and dish washing facilities are clean and tidy and the site bins are emptied regularly. A very well managed site. Theres plenty to do out and about with Barmouth being just down the road with all its little seaside bargain shops, fun fair and ice cream palours! I've just been browsing ukcampsites.Com and I have to say with all that Dyffryn has to offer its prices are one of the best on the website. Thank you.

We have been using this site for Three years now and things just get better. The camping pitches have been divided into paddocks some with EHU, which is really nice, as before the tents seemed to be ontop of one another. Also they now have paddocks for touring caravans also with mains water and EHU. The toilet and shower block are kept very clean although sometimes the cards for the showers dont work but the reception staff will gladly replace any faulty card. The shop is open until quite late, and is well stocked. There is a little cafe and chip shop that is quite popular. But for us and three children, after a day on the brilliant beach, the best part was the on site club. The last manager was a bit of a missery guts, but there is a new couple there now with a teenage family, all of whom are very friendly. The food was excellent and value for money, there was entertainment on every night, although this is only at busy periods. We cant wait to go back for three weeks during the summer holidays.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this site. It is easy to find and in an idyllic location. The Road down to the site is narrow in places and it would be interesting if two caravans met travelling in opposite directions!
The site itself is large and laid out with static vans on one side and touring and camping fields on the other. We were in our tent with EHU for this trip and the pitch was just about large enough to house us. The camping fields Non EHU were spacious though. The site is really well kept with an army of staff ensuring that the grounds are clean.
The site itself has a well stocked shop open til 9pm each evening, onsite club house with some entertainment and a restaurant area, we tried this out but weren't overly impressed with the food. The prices in the bar were only slightly more expensive than a pub which was good. There is also an onsite chip shop / cafe - the cafe serves til 8.30pm and the chip shop until around 11pm. The site toilets and showers are plentiful and clean. The shower cards are awkward and there is a real knack to using them. Now for the beach and what the children can do - there is a games room for wet weather, a football field and a play area for younger children. The sand dunes are a great place for older children to go and play hide and seek, and the beach WOW what a lovely place to walk. It is a lovely long sandy beach that is very clean. Having gone in a group of 4 families with 10 children between us ranging in age from 14 to 1 - not one of them complained of boredom at anytime! We would love to go back here with our caravan but most of the touring pitches are let out as seasonal pitches!

This is the second time we have stayed at the site. The caravans we have stayed in have been excellent, clean and well kept. The site is fab for families with a very clean indoor pool. Staff on site are very friendly and helpful. There is a chippy for indoor or takeaway and a club with entertainment. The beach is fabulous! The kids loved the sand dunes. The site is near to Shell Island and Harlech, both worth a visit. We will be going back again soon.

So far I've stayed at this site in their 6 person bungalow 2001, rented static caravan 2002, but for the last two years I've camped in tents. The beach is the best I've found in the UK (but don't try pulling a baby's buggy along the path anymore - too much sand has covered the slatted boardwalk). The site is clean and the facilities are great. If you don't like the sound of next-door's arguments when they come back from the pub then avoid this site at holiday weekends - it gets very crowded. Any other night is fine. The showers and toilets have always been cleaned regularly - you need swipe cards for the showers though and they can be unreliable but the office have always refunded dud cards. The shop has everything you could ever need and the chippy stays open quite late for when you have the munchies. Loads of space for the kids to play in sight of the tent. Flat throughout, sandy soil. No gazebos allowed in some summer months I notice now. That's new but we did just catch our's in 2005 before it ripped into our neighbours tent and I've seen loads mangled in the bins so that's probably why.

Had a perfect 5 nights here. A fantastic site for families, which ticks all the boxes. Access to the site is found via a narrow lane which can prove difficult during busy periods. The site itself is located next to the sand dunes and the wonderful beach can be reached after a short walk through them. The pitches are well maintained with water taps and bins in easy reach. The shower / toilet blocks are large and in good condition but can get a little untidy during a very busy weekend (which can be expected). If you happen to be at the far end of the site expect a big walk to the loos. The on site club serves good food and provides entertainment at peak times. If you have children you will be pleased to know the site has a good play area to keep them happy. If you fancy a take away, then the on site chip shop provides value for money. All in all a great site.

I visited Dyffryn Seaside Estate when I was very young! My Husband my daughter and I decided to go to Dyffryn for a peaceful holiday. When we revisited in 2005 we found it really nice when we arrived there was quick reception and we got our key to the caravan. When we went in the caravan we entered to a lovely Lounge with a long Sofa a huge kitchen and a dining area. Down a short hallway it lead off to the shower area with a sink and the shower and storage space. Next to this room was the toilet with a sink and a toilet and holders for toilet paper. Opposite the Toilet was a bedroom containing 2 single beds, I admit the beds were a bit small but still comfartable. There was also a small wardrobe and a bedside table and they had cupboards above the bed too. The duvet covers were there folded neatly on the bed. Nextdoor was the double bedroom with a double bed and a huge wardrobe and 2 bedside table. Again the bedding was folded ready. Nextdoor was another single bedroom the same as the other. By one of the single bedrooms was the other door and there was a cupboard with a hoover and more storage space. The carpets were clean and the work tops every room has curtains and the kitchen and bathroom has blinds. The site was peaceful with the pool. The only thing was there wasn't really anything down the pool for kids. There was a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. There was a shop on the campsite which was good and the nightclub was good with pool tables there was a park on site for the children which was good and there was a resteraunt which was nice. The beach was lovely no litter or anything the beach wasn't jam packed and it wasn't long to the beach. There was a bank to the beach but it had a wooden walkway. I'd recommend this site to campers and to people who want an enjoyful holiday.
