We booked during peak the night before and got a hook up pitch.
Excellent facilities - not too noisy and the owners were both welcoming and helpful. Lending us a RCD plug extension as ours is a bit short.
Lots of space but try not to get a pitch next to the road - the trees offer no protection from the late night motorbikes!

Just got back from a ten day break at barcdy camping park at Talsarnau North Wales. We had some wet days with high winds, but some really hot days. The site was very clean and tidy, with plenty of bins for recycling. The management were very helpful, even helping people to put their tents up, as they have only just taken over the site. They also have static vans and separate bays for touring vans. Beautiful views from the hill walks further up the site. The toilets and showers are kept very clean, (twice a day) There is no shop on the site, but there are three supermarkets near by. They stick to the ten thirty pm no noise rule, no dogs no children's play area, but there are football nets and a rope swing. They are planning to do a play park. Will go back in the future,

Just got back to Gloucestershire from barcdy. We had a great time at this site. Amazing view from our pitch was of hills and mountains. We found the site very peaceful. The road is not far away but doesn't cause any problems. The toilets and showers were as clean as you will find anywhere and showers were hot. There is a washing machine and tumble drying room useful if you need dry clothes. Our pitch was hard standing and had its own tap and water waste which was helpful and we found tv reception ok and the site has wi. Fi. The site has no shop but we found we picked up supplies on our day trips. We put 7/10 on child friendliness as the site has football nets in a part of site but we didn't see any swings/slide ect.
thanks again to all at barcdy see you on our next visit.

Great site, recently under new friendly and helpful management.
Choice of two areas for tents without hook ups, we stayed in higher one which felt more secluded, ground was a little waterlogged and you'll need rock pegs but it wasn't a problem. There were plenty of clean spacious toilets and showers with lots of hot water, and a really nice indoor pot wash area. Washing machines and tumble dryers are available but you can't put sleeping bags and duvets in them (which was a nuisance when one of our young children had an accident in the night).
They have football goals set up in a field and a rope swing from a tree, as well as bluebell wood you can walk in.
There is no shop on site, and it is a little drive to get to one, but overall this was a really well kept, peaceful site and we'll be back!

Had brilliant time here, facilities great, staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We went biking in the local area, would go back.
The local area is great for walking and biking and lazing around if you prefer. The beach is near by via car and Harlech is a picture postcard.
I would recommend a visit to the area.

Spent 4 nights on this site. I e-mailed a number of sites a few months ago with our specific requirements (2 large tents together and space for a gazebo) Barcdy were the 1st to respond positively so we made the booking. The on-line booking was easy. Our first impression on arrival was the cleanliness of the site. The staff were friendly and helpful. They evidently work around the clock to ensure the high standards on the site are maintained. Nothing was too much trouble. The toilet/shower block closest to us was kept clean throughout. The showers were spacious with constant hot water. We were fortunate with the weather during our stay. There were a couple of downpours but they were during the night. The field did become a little waterlogged but this did not hinder our stay. The site is within easy reach of numerous attractions in the area. Please note the bridge crossing the estuary is currently being re-built which can put a bit of a delay on trips to the Porthmadog area. There is mention of a lack of a shop on site. This was not an issue for us. However there is a well stocked Premier store in Harlech, 6 miles away. Please note that we had an issue with midges during our stay. Please take some repellent/bite remedy. Overall a wonderful site and highly recommended.

What an amazing site.
We stayed here with friends. All had small children, and it was a real adventure for all.
Clean toilets and hot water, with easy washing facilities. The location is stunning, and very easy exploring the area.
Plenty of space to pitch up and play about.
Would definitely recommend

Fantastic site.
Excellent clean showers and facilities.
Puts many other larger sites to shame.
Never had any problems with noise.
Families only and much quieter than Shell Island.
Sadly no dogs allowed so we cant return now we have a dog :-(
Close enough to pop over to Shell Island too.
Fantastic walk up the mountain, turn right, then left, and you come across a beautiful small lake.

A very happy experience camping at Barcdy. Great fun for boys simply exploring and playing on rope swings. Facilities are good and the site has a lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff and the no dogs policy is a bonus for these kids and adults with previous bad experiences and an acute repulsion to fouling! Ideal location for a family Snowdonia holiday. Portmeirion, Harlech Castle and Barmouth beach are a stones throw away and 30 minutes drive will take you into heart of Snowdonia with great villages such as Baddgelert and Bets-y-coed and to one of the 6 routes to Snowdon itself.

Just returned from three nights at Barcdy. Site is great and nothing much to add from previous reviews of site.
Couple of pieces of advice for anyone visiting this Summer:
The toll road seems to be undergoing major construction work. It occasionally closes, but was open 3 out of 4 times that we wanted to use it. No queues, and it appears that while this construction is ongoing there is no toll fee.
If the toll road is closed and you have to take the long route into Porthmadog, be very careful on the road away from the campsite. It is a fairly narrow road, which now is used by large lorries working at the construction site. They make no attempt to slow down as they pass you - so be prepared!
If you plan to visit Portmeirion, Castell Deudraeth do fantastic lunch, and if you have two courses (make sure you have pudding!) they give you free entry to the village. Look them up on the Portmeirion website. We booked for lunch at 12, and still had plenty of time to look round the village.
Beach at Harlech is great - lovely sand dunes, but take a packed lunch, or be prepared to drive up to Harlech town for food as there are no facilities at all on the beach.
