Just got back from a long weekend in Harlech, we stayed at the barcdy camping site from 7th - 9th July. The site is situated 4 miles outside Harlech, and from the nearest beach, the Town of Portmadoc is a 6 mile ride away, where they have a large Tesco store which is great as we didn't have to take shopping with us. This site is the best site I have stayed on so far in my camping life, we asked for hook-ups on our tents and the lots were superb, each one had a small 2 foot hedge either side of the tent, allowing plenty of space between you and the neighbours. Their are a few acres of camping space so you are not hemmed in at all, and if you have children there is a huge space in front of the tents for them to run around and play. The facilities are fantastic also, the toilets were spotless and cleaned several times a day, with shaving points and plenty of mirrors and wash basins. There is a large laundry room with a washing machine and spin-dryer which cost 50p, also in this room there is a hair dryer & iron which takes a 30p token. The laundry room also has 2 kitchen sinks to enable you to wash your plates and cups, and this area is kept spotlessly clean at all times, by both the campers and the owners. There are 5 showers, ( 3 unisex & one in either toilets), these showers were also immaculately kept, the hot water requires a 30p token which lasts for 10 minutes which is plenty of time. We had a great weekend, but sadly it rained on the Saturday night and blew such a gale I thought my tent was a gonna, thankfully we survived and are hoping to go back in august.

Had a great holiday here in June 2005. Probably best campsite i've stayed in. We camped on the hill at the back of the site for a week and had it to ourselves for most of the time. The couple who run the site work hard. the place is kept clean, tidy, well maintained and the wash facilities are good. We were lucky - a week in north wales, hot and sunny and it rained just once! For eating out, the Grapes in Maentwrog does really good food. Its about 4 miles away. Lovely location if your looking for a quiet rural campsite. No pubs or shops within walking distance so you'll have to drive or get on your bike.

Just enjoyed our second stay at this camp site (this time for 2 weeks) and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, clean and friendly site. We stayed over the bank holdiay and although the site was full, you still enjoyed space (this was a real pleasure after being packed in like sardines on other sites). The owners deserve every penny that they earn as they worked continuously around the clock and are always more than willing to help.
The facilites are always spotless even after a heavy downpour - unfortunately we had poor weather for the majority of our stay but was not put off. The wildlife on the site is amazing from birds of prey, bats at night and a cheeky fox who tried to steal our neighbours rubbish. I can't praise this site enough and most certainly can't wait to return.

August 2005 Read some members reviews about this camp site and I can only say how impressed we were. The showers, toilet facilities, chemical toilet cleaning room, etc were all immaculately kept. I am an early riser (sound of birds at dawn) and arived to have a shower at around 6.50 am to find that they were being cleaned. Not only that, they were cleaned again in the afternoon. the pitch was equally good and you can have electric hookup for your tent (which we will have next time. There could be potentially, if you are unlucky, after a downpour ( a fierce one at that) that some of the lower field may become water logged but ours was no problem. The only downside was that there is no shop on site but with a little village shop (post office) just a mile away and a Spar in Harlech, there are no problems. This is another definite.

August 2005 We spent a week here in early August.
The site is very conveniently located, close to some great sandy beaches and the mountains of Snowdonia.
The washing facilities are immaculate The campsite was very busy so sometimes we had to queue for a shower in the morning, but they are worth waiting for. It was a shame that the on-site shop was not open - this would have been handy.
The site itself is in a very pretty setting. We camped on the Knoll, a grassy hillock at one end of the site. This meant that the pitches on this part are not perfectly flat, but it is tucked away and you can pitch your tent exactly where you want. The other main camping field is large and flat, but slightly less interesting.
The only downside, and it is a very minor downside, is that you can hear some traffic noise from the nearby road. In actual fact the road is not that busy at all, so it was not a problem. I would come back here, and would recommend the site to anyone looking for a peaceful site in beautiful surroundings.

June 2005 We went at half term, as camping Virgins, being sensible and meeting up with my brother and his family who were camping experts. We arrived on tuesday and it was glorious.
The site is in a fantasstic place, ideal for exploring Snodonia and the surrounding areas. The Toilet / Showers / Laundry block was imaculate and was constanly cleaned throughout the day by invisible magic cleaners.
The office was manned by the owners who were very friendly and helpful. We could not fault the site. Unfortunately, it started raining tuesday night and didn't stop til Saturday night, and we went home on Sunday! Ah well, the site was good , the new tent nice and big, ideal for playing cards, cooking and eating in, and the countryside splendid, even in the rain. Has not put us off trying again. See you again Barcdy!

May 2005 My husband, baby daughter and I have just returned from a two day stay at Barcdy. We were lucky to get on the site as we booked at short notice and it was a bank holiday. The owners were very pleasent and helpful and the site was beautiful, surrounded by fields and a forest. We did go for a walk in the forest but found it quite difficult with our 8mth old in her buggy as the paths are very steep in places. The facilities were excellent, lovely and clean and always had paper and soap.
The negative point we found was the road that the site is on, it is very busy during the day and we could hear it even though we were as far away from it as you could be. It did slow down at night though, and it would not put us off going back again. There is no shop on site but there are many within a short drive. while we were there we visited Harlech beach which is beautiful and very clean, and Harlech castle is always worth a visit.

August 2004 This is a great site, well maintained throughout, and plenty of space. The proprietors said that they don't like to get too full as it spoils it.
Both loo/shower blocks were spotless at all times, and there was always plenty of hot water there and for washing up.
I wouldn't look anywhere else if I were in the area again.

September 2004 What a great site!
We went with some friends and their 2 year old little boy.
I have stringent standards for toilet and shower clenliness, and they passed on all... I actually think the loo was possibly cleaner than mine at home!!!
Very friendly, happy proprieters... we will DEFINATELY be going back!

September 2004 We went to Barcdy last weekend with some friends, and had a great time, dispite the appauling weather!
Site is clean, tidy, well run etc, and the extremely well equipped laundry room is great!
The lower fields tend to get very boggy with even the smallest amount of rain, so even if you have booked, you should call and check the pitches are still open, as they close them off when boggy!
I'd always complete their booking form, on their website, in the future as we rang and booked, but were not in the book, luckily it was not a busy weekend, and we had the run of the place!
One campsite we will definately be back to!
