I had previously stayed on the site in the late 1990s so it was the logical choice when I visited Prestatyn in the last week of May. I was not too concerned about the reports of the site being run on strict lines, because that was the case over 15 years ago. Also every site has rules on behaviour even if they don't have a printed rule sheet or large numbers of notices.

My only concern was a sign stating families and couples only but I was still allowed to book in.

On arrival I was shown where to pitch my tent but given a couple of options so I pitched it uphill not far from the reception car park (this proved to be much quieter than the bottom of the field next to the road).

The site is very tidy and well-kept. The camping fields are well manicured and laid out in an orderly fashion. The shower block and loos in particular are immaculate and it was difficult to tell that it was once a farm outbuilding. Showers were free and unlocked all night, but an inevitable notice advises a maximum of 20 minutes' use in busy times, more than most people will need to undress, shower and dress again. As the cost of the camping was £15 a night for one person, a 2 man tent and a car, I would have been disappointed if there was an extra charge for showers.

I had come to Prestatyn to do some geocaching, so had a walk around the promenade and the town centre, also stopping at a couple of pubs along the way and at the Chynna Garden (Malaysian/Chinese) restaurant which is worth a visit. On returning in the late evening I walked through the top entrance which was open for vehicles. I can see why this one is open at night as it is more secure than the main gate which leads directly onto the main road.

I would definitely consider staying here again if in the area.

Great site have visited numerous times and will return. Very clean and well kept toilet and shower block cleaned twice a day. Plenty of hot water any time of the day and bins on site emptied often by owner.

Soon as pitch is vacated it is mowed ready for next camper. Separate field for children to play very quiet as families only allowed and gates closed at night for security.

A real credit to the owners nothing too much trouble for them.

Excellent location for shops, town and beach all within 15 mins flat walk.

Reading the reviews on this site I was wary

Please don't be the site is very well run by a happy team who are proud of what they have

I arrived late after 9pm and had to leave at 7am next day to go to work leaving the van and family there

The main gates do get locked but there is 24 hour access

The site is spotless and the same goes to shower block and toilets

All available 24/7 with plenty of hot water

At the side of the farm are washing machines iron hair dryer etc

This site would not put up with rowdy or noises people

But then again who wants that

My verdict after visiting is

Well run site people there all the time if you need help

And an owner who is proud of what he has and it's a credit to him

Kids are well looked after and the season banners were very friendly

Proprietor’s response: We welcome and value all reviews posted regarding our site.

Just to clarify:

We do welcome and love dogs as pet owners ourselves but due to past experiences we now limit dogs on site especially during busy periods. This is due to the close proximity, hygiene and safety reasons. Dogs are free of charge, as unfortunately we do not have a spare area for dog walking. Therefore all we ask is for dog owners to walk their dogs off site to do their business. There is plenty of dog walking areas near by.

The main site entrance is locked at 8pm for security plus cut off time for new arrivals and then reopened at 8am. However, there is an alternative 24hr CCTV monitored entrance, which can be accessed on foot and via cars. All guests are informed of this by reception on arrival, verbally and in writing on the information sheet provided including a site map.

During the Easter Christian Week we made arrangements for those guests visiting the Word Alive at Pontins to be able to walk only not drive through the main entrance up to 10pm, as this was a shorter route for them. Plus the alternative entrance was open for pedestrians and vehicles. No guest is locked in or out of the site.

All our pitches are well spaced accordingly allowing the regulated minimum 6 meters between each unit and to park one car only alongside the awning or door side of the unit which is explained upon assistance in parking the unit.

Showers are available 24hrs. We are in the process of reviewing the shower system but at present the showers are locked but accessible at any time. Between 8am-9pm keys are available from Reception and then an out-of-hours key is left on one door of each Ladies and Gents for those wanting a late or early shower. However, during quiet periods we do leave this out-of-hrs key on the doors but guests are informed of this and again explained on the information sheet provided. There are nine showers in total and rarely a queue.

Reception is open 8am-9pm plus we live on site therefore always available for our guests if needed.

We have been running this site for many years and have many returning customers. Our site is a very well established one and popular due to its cleanliness, convenient location and friendly atmosphere.

Unfortunately we cannot be responsible for clashing guest personalities, which I must say over many years, are very minimal.

Our priority is to provide a safe & friendly environment for all Nant Mill quests to have a safe, quiet and enjoyable stay.

This is a good sight with good responsible owners and good facilities which we have visited a number of times.

The site is spoilt though by being illogically over regimented and a small number of unfriendly seasonal pitch holders.

For instance in years of caravanning this is the only site I have visited where I can't park my car within 4 to 5 feet of one side of my caravan but the adjoining pitch holder can park within 4 to 5 feet of me because despite generous pitch sizes I have been positioned on the pitch boundary.

Additionally why are there keys on hook lines on one of the the shower doors which open the locks of that door but cant be used to open the adjoining keyless locked door?

Finally in a holiday area why does entry to the site by car after 8pm (10pm or 11pm would be much more appropriate) require the owners agreement. Although the gates were left closed but unlocked by arrangement they are heavy gates, it was windy and raining throughout the week the adjoining road is sometimes busy (it had been speed checked during the day) and its not possible to pull off the road beforehand.

Last year because the owner expressed concerns about the wet grass I parked in front of a water point leaving enough room for it to be used and of course some one complained.

I'm on holiday I simply don't need such hassle.

Beautifully well looked after site, showers and toilets immaculately clean. Shame the initial welcome was not too friendly! The whole atmosphere of this site felt very regimental, you almost expected to see a sign saying 'No laughing or enjoying yourselves!' Dogs seemed to be 'tolerated' NOT 'welcome'. They are not allowed to foul on site, but how can you ensure your dog is 'off site' before he does his business? We are very responsible dog owners, and always clean up after our dog, but it's impossible to make him 'go' to order! We were told to park near the gate, so our dog could be taken off site quickly when he needed to 'go', but this gate was locked from 8. 30 pm to 8. 00 am, a long time in any dogs book!

Easy, pleasant walk into town and to beach.

I have just returned from what was going to be a 2 night camping trip which turned into a week away.

I was in a tent by the road, the site is peaceful, clean, well maintained, welcoming and I am certainly returning.

I read reviews that said the road is noisy, it is a little the first night but then you get used to it and the traffic isn't a problem at all.

When I read other reviews I expected a very strict campsite that I could do nothing on, this is very wrong, the staff are helpful and made me feel very welcome, everything is explained to you and you are given a map of the site. The site is patrolled and I felt very safe and relaxed.

The site isn't far from supermarkets and the area is a lovely place to walk with the beach nearby.

The site feels private and is ideal for people wanting a peaceful time.

There is a 24 hour number you are given should you need the staff at anytime, so this being my first time ever camping and me being a female alone camping I can honestly say I felt safe, relaxed and welcome.

I only came home because of the winds picking up and Me being in a tent, as soon as I can return I will be doing.

Lovely site and lovely staff.

The only thing I would change is electric hook up for tents, however you can charge things at reception for 50p, showers are opposite reception where you obtain the shower key from, I think this held keep them as clean as they are.

I wasn't rushed in the shower and I think some reviews are a bit misleading, I'd say go try this for yourself, children are welcome and I'd say bring some games etc for them. I don't have children so I can't comment much,

Great place

We have just had four days at Nant Mill 26th - 29th July and absolutely loved the site. Helen and Andy were particularly helpful and nothing was too much trouble for either of them from the moment we arrived - late!

The site is very relaxed and peaceful with pristine toilets and showers, no matter what time of day they were used - very impressive. Being so close to Prestatyn and its amenities was very handy so not having a shop on site wasn't an issue. There is a large Tesco 5 minutes away by car. It is also only a five minute bike ride from the beach/coastal cyclepath which was ideal for us.

Other family members wanted to take over the caravan at the last minute and Helen juggled pitches for us which enabled them to stay for another week! We were all very grateful.

Will certainly be going back to Nant Mill and would recommend it to everyone! Thank you so much Helen. Perfect!

Just returned from a long weekend at this site. What a lovely place and the owners were really helpful and friendly too. My first inspection is always the toilets, I don't think I've ever been to a site where the toilets are so clean!

The location was ideal, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but close enough to walk/cycle to and the beach is only a short bike ride away too.

Our children loved the playground and designated ball area and they soon made some new friends.

We enjoyed it so much, we came home and re-booked to stay again next month.

Stayed here after having been let down by a nearby site. The owners were helpful and gave us a choice of where we wanted to pitch our tent. We chose to pitch just below the caravans as further down was right next to the main road which at times was noisy especially at night when people seemed to use it to drag race on.

The site itself was very clean and tidy with plenty of toilets and two showers in the ladies.

There were cctv cameras around the site which gave you confidence to go out knowing your things would be safe(you are very close to the town and other holiday sites).

The children enjoyed the playground and the beach is about 10 mins walk and the town centre is about 5 mins walk away.

The only downsides were there wasn't electric hook up for campers and it is on a slight slope so you have to think about the best way to pitch your tent.
