We managed to book a trip here last minute for a local get away with the kids.
It is a basic site with the pitches either side of a large fields leaving a nice large play area in the middle. We like this layout as you can let the kids wander about and still keep tabs on them.
There are a fair amount of rules but I didn't think they were a hindrance and it was nice to know its a quiet site at night.
There were several large groups when we were there and not a single problem from them as they respected the rules.
The facilities did suffer from a lack of hotwater though and not many braved the showers for this reason, ourselves included.
We hired a fire pit and enjoyed roasting marshmallows with the kids, something not all sites permit.
No problems using a gas bbq either.
We went geocaching in the local area on our bikes through some nice wooded areas. The local butchers is good too.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but thought the facilities could do with a bit more refinement, just a screen in front of the toilet block would be a good start.
As it is now everyone on the site can see who goes into the toilets if they want.
A good budget site but could be really good with a little effort.

We have been to palace farm a number of times over the past years and can say we still enjoy this site. You have to take the rough with the smooth with the weather being England we had a mixture of all sorts of weather rain thunder hail and eventually the sun hooray. In all the time we have visited the site there was never an issue with the hot water running out before putting that down to children leaving the showers and the hot water in sinks on. As for queuing for the toilets well there a queue where ever you go and it didn't bother us just waited for the queues to die down and the water to heat up. We were there from may 22 till june the 2 and had a lovely time that we went back on june the 6 till 10june to try out new tent we brought. Weather was brilliant sunny and hot every day. Going back soon. This site is our little piece of heaven. Well done keep up the good work

We started here for the weekend and it was great, very Friendly and helpfully. There are some maps for walks that are really nice. We went and there was only 4 others parties and not once did we have to wait for the showers. There is a small shower/toilet block, on a busy summer weekend might be busy. The whole area was very clean and tidy, over all a very good weekend and will be going back. The nearest shop is 6 miles in a car.

This is really just a field, with long straight lines of middle class 'campers' with all their equipment and gadgets. The logs we paid for were so damp it took hours to get a fire going and the owner tried to tell me that I didn't know how to build a fire when I complained. He reckoned no-one else had trouble with their logs but in fact everyone else was too polite to complain so were just moaning amongst themselves in the field.
The toilets etc were fine, clean enough. Soooooooo many rules at this place though! Don't have a bbq, the only fire allowed is in a 'fire pit' (metal bucket) that they charge you for and doesn't circulate enough heat to get a decent fire going. Keep your voice down after 10pm. Dogs on a lead. Tents exactly 6m from each other, no visitors. Blah blah.
Seriously, kent is covered in beautiful countryside and there are many fantastic campsites where you can take your kids off exploring, climbing trees and getting muddy. Steer clear of this crappy field surrounded by roads and find somewhere better. We have visited many much better, more relaxed places very close to this one.

We stayed here for one night over the Easter bank holiday. Lovely little campsite - large flat field with large pitches. 2 good clean toilets, showers and wash cubicles. Washing up area is outside but sheltered. The have chickens who have free range and seem to like wandering around the camping field. Dont know where the nearest shop is but the local pub is a 5 minute walk down the hill. We took our bikes and had a really nice cycle around the local area through woods and passing many orchards.

We stayed at Palace Farm 28-31 Aug. My daughter and I in a tent and my wife at the hostel (B&B). We can recommend both highly. The weather was perfect. Our pitch was next to the shower/toilet block but because the rules of this campsite include one for quietness (because this is a working farm) this did not detract from our stay in the least. The campsite was well laid out, pitches only along the edge of a wide field, leaving plenty of space in the middle. The toilet block was meticulously maintained and very clean. The hot water was plentiful despite the site being full. The owners were very pleasant and helpful and they helped to create a lovely atmosphere in the site. Fellow campers were friendly - but then we had the advantage of our cute Border Terrier to break the ice. The availability of fire-bowls and wood to fuel them made for a very authentic camping experience. The surrounding area is beautifully serene with lots of offroad footpaths and nice pubs. The local (prizewinning) butchers is a must! The hostel where my wife stayed was also of a very high standard. Her single room offered her the R&R she was looking for and is definitely worthy of its 4* rating. We will go back.

Palace Farm Campsite is a pleasant, quiet and secluded place to camp. All the facilities were always clean and everything you need for your stay. Even facilities for the disabled. The cost of camping there is very good. There is lots of nice walks and a butchers nearby for your main food. A nice selection of food and ice cream especially the Honeycomb crunch variety! Yum. There is a pub that's nearby if you want a quiet drink. The owners were welcoming and helpful. Will definitely go back again. Ideal campsite for a nice chill out time. Good for families with children as there are lots to explore and room to play within a safe environment. Overall a good place to be. Would highly recommend to all that like camping.

Another fantastic stay at this beautiful site, we love it here. We are from Dover so it's literally only up the road from us; perfect for a weekend away.
We had pitch 24 which is the first pitch on the left with the fence. It's a double pitch perfect for our two tents and marquee. It's lovely and spacious, and pretty convenient for the toilets - for those midnight needs!
It as very quiet when we arrived on the Friday with only 3 or 4 tents but by Saturday evening it was busy, however you didn't feel like there were loads of people and I never saw any queues for the toilets or showers.
You really do need to keep your dog on a lead though, ours went following my husband when he went to speak to the farmer. She inadvertently scared the animals and he understandably wasn't happy. She wasn't bothered by the animals, she only wanted to be with my husband, but we were told if she did it again we would ave to leave. Rules are rules.
We now have a new tent and are contemplating going back for a third visit this week. :-)

Just come back from another regular visit to Palace Farm. This is old-skool camping at its best; a large well-tended field; 2 organic loos; 2 washrooms; 2 showers; 2 washing up sinks; and a tap!
There are neighbouring fields to walk the dog in, and enough space not to feel hemmed in. The green space down the middle forms a communal games area, where all the kids manage cricket, rounders, and all sorts of chase games. As it was hot, an amiable water fight broke out while we were there. Occasional invasion of chickens; the goats got noisy, bumping their shed. Saw kestrel and buzzard, heard doves and chiffchaff, blackbird and wren.
There are about 25 pitches, and a tipi for hire. As it was school hols, lots of kids, many with grandparents. There seemed to be more than the usual number of Dutch and German campers; the power of the net.
I chatted to one couple, from Eindhoven - three hours from the tunnel. They were complimentary about the site - the lady commented 'I must have hot showers! If I am cold they will warm me, if I am hot they will get rid of my sweat!'

This is a very good site if you like tent only and not a lot of noise. It seemed to be ideal for small children, as they have a huge space in the centre of the field to play and meet each other. On our visit (two adults) the other campers were mostly families. Although we felt the site could do with more facilities, I never actually needed to queue or saw queues forming. Beautifully spacious loos and showers. However, the soap in the loos was not kept topped up. I like the way the owners provide a few suggested local walks by form of laminated maps. This is a very good area for birdwatching. There is a Co-op about 3m up the road, which stays open till late, and a pub within walking distance. My main complaint is that whilst the site is predominantly very well-kept and well-organised, the room with the freezer in it was a mess and very neglected-looking. The freezer lid seemed to be kept in place by a stool placed on top of it and my ice blocks went missing (though obviously that is not the fault of the management). I recommend campers clearly label their bags, as I can see it is easy to take the wrong one. Also seal it properly, as when people look for their ice others' plastics bags easily open and ice blocks end up floating around loose. The aspect of the campsite I liked best was the fact that it did not have the distasteful commercial atmosphere found universally these days.
