I stayed for a long weekend in late July with my wife and son.
It is a nice quiet site with adequate but slightly basic facilities - 2 toilets, 2 showers and one combined disabled toilet/shower room, a washing up area and a freezer. There are a couple of goats and some (very) free range chickens on the site and fire pits available to use.
From the site it is a short drive to get to Canterbury or Whitsable or anywhere else in Kent.
The only things I would want to change about this place would be a couple more toilets and possibly a bit more water pressure in the showers. We would definitely come back.

Hello my name is Rosie and I am 8. This camp site has been one of my favourite ones. It is beautiful. There are lots of children and there is lots of nature there such as little owls and woodpeckers.
I loved feeding the goats and chickens just by the entrance. Their names are Buzz, Woody and Billy. I like baking marshmallows over the fire.
There are toilets near the entrance with free showers and a place to wash your cups and plates. There is a pub near the camp site with a lovely garden with a little play ground in for children to play on.

We came for a short break were given the choice of two pitches by a very friendly owner - one had morning sun other had evening sun- it was the most perfect pitch we have had so far.
Peaceful and accessible to Canterbury - pub just a few minutes down the road - the Chequers arms -lovely
Certainly recommend this site - but please a couple more loos, a tad cleaner and put some seat/stools in the showers

I had such an upsetting experience at this campsite that it has taken me 2 years before I have felt like sharing it. I first visited this site in sept. 2010 with my granddaughter. My 2nd visit was with 2 of my grandchildren both 11 years old (cousins) We arrived Friday night and I was kept awake all night by a family turning up late and pitching tent next to me in the dark. I was then kept awake by them having a pit fire and constantly knocking it with the BBQ tongs! I finally got up about 4. 30am to ask politely if they could be quiet. The next day we went to Canterbury and the children bought some little gadgets that go in their and sound like birds whistling. Back at the campsite they were using these, and as I understood that acoustic instruments were allowed I was playing my irish whistle. It was only 8. 30 when I very tattooed elderly rough speaking man started shouting for us to shut up. I replied that it was only 8. 30. The next day we went out early to go to Mass at Church and we stayed out till 4pm. When we returned the kids had barely used their whistles for 5 mins. When the same man started shouting abuse wig us. The children were frightened. We kept our heads down to try and avoid confrontation but he was determined to have a fight and he came over to us and physically threatened us with language the like of which I would not dare repeat, words beginning with f. And c. T etc. The children were crying and asking me to call the police. I tried to tell the owners what had happened but they were not interested at all. On reflection I wish I had called the police but did not want to cause trouble for the site. Thus is not a site that is safe for women on their own with children because this type of person has no place on a site like this.

Stayed here for a mid week break in June, lovely big level field to pitch on which was mowed regularly. The campsite owners are very friendly and approachable and we enjoyed using the fire pits of a night time.
The site is well placed for visiting Canterbury and the coast. We particularly enjoyed going for one of the walks which Liz and Tom had planned out using ordinance survey maps. They are of various lengths too and we chose the 5 mile three pubs walk. It should have taken about two and a half hours, but did take us considerably longer, the pub stops probably had something to do with this!
We were originally going to leave on the Friday, but enjoyed our stay so much we decided to stay another night.

Wonderful area - great for visiting attractions such as Leeds Castle (you need a wet weather plan with kids!). Can park car next to tent. A few muddy tracks after a wet weekend. Our son loved the fact he could feed the chickens and goats with left over breakfast stuff from the hostel. What an experience for him. Lots of children playing in the centre, so instant friends. Spotless toilets, and washing up area. Shower great and mop to mop up any mud afterwards. Will return in the summer as great base for seeing Kent.

Bit of a mixed bag. The site itself is a rather charmless field, but this allowed for plenty of space for children to play. The facilities were fairly new and well maintained, but we never managed to find the showers with any hot water left.
However, the local pub was awesome. We turned up cold and wet from the 4 inches of rain that fell that weekend, and the staff and locals couldn't have been kinder. The fire was stoked up and we were soom warm and cosy.
Dodgington Place Gardens is also a real gem (currently open only on Wednesdays, Sundays and bank holidays). The gardens themselves are magnificent, including some huge Giant Redwoods that must be not far off being the tallest trees in the UK. The tea rooms are also top notch, providing real home made fare - not the commercialised hi priced cafe that I normally see at such places. Finally, because the site is so quiet, the falconry display was up close and personal. I will forever have the vision of my 7 year old with the snow owl coming in to land on her gloved arm.

Just returned from our bank holiday visit to this site. Great site, just as described on their website, lovely and quiet.
As the weather was poor for the weekend, having booked a firepit for our stay was great, lovely to still be able to sit outside despite the chill! You can purchase logs and kindling from the friendly site.
Plenty of space on each pitch as well as huge area of free space down the middle for kids to play. Brilliant fun watching the chickens and cockerels running around(not in a sad way!)
Site has two toilets, two washing cubicles and two showers, which have lots of lovely hot water and are fairly powerful too. The block isn't heated, but don't think this would be a problem once the weather warms up a bit. We found it ok and it was cold, windy and rainy when we were there.
Great place to base yourself to explore Kent, Wingham Wildlife Park is well worth a visit.
Will definitely visit site again, Graham and Liz were helpful and friendly and live on site.

This is our second visit to Palace farm, enjoyed as much as our first. This gem of a site is run by a lovely couple who are friendly and welcomed us and cant do enough for us to make our visit pleasant. They both told us about the area and where everything was.
The camping area is on a field where tents pitch along the sides leaving an area in the middle for children to play. Chickens roaming free and plenty of wildlife around. Showers and toilets are ok, plenty of hot water. You don't have to pay extra for showers like some sites. Loved using the fire pits that you can hire, cooked some lovely meals on it.
The pub down the road in the village, the Chequers (the landlady is very welcoming) serves lovely meals and fine ales. The butcher is also excellent for fine meat and friendly. Nearest supermarkets are asda and sainburys in Sittingbourne. Also a nice farm shop in Bredgar which sells all basics if you don't want to go into Sittingbourne. There is a cafe there that does lovely full English for 5 pounds, best fish and chip is in Lenham
Cant wait till next year, going again, love the site, love the area. Plenty of little villages around with quaint pubs, try the black lion in lyndhurst which sells its own cider and ales

It's a lovely place, probably more so out of season (as we were) as I can't imagine the limited facilities would cope well when it's full! The owners are really friendly.
Don't rely on the firepits for cooking as the logs can be a bit damp - you can burn your own wood but not charcoal.
The local pub does food and beer and is only 10 minutes walk away but that's the limit of its good features! Showers and toilets and wash up area a bit concretey and basic but adequate.
We would definitely return (out of peak season). Full price would have been a bit high for the facilities but we were on an offer, which was fine.
