Visited this site over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The site was almost full, approx 17 out of the 20 spaces full, plus the sites pre-erected tipi. I booked at the last minute, escaping from DiY at home and Graham & Liz were very helpful in accommodating my last minute enquiry via e.Mail.
The site is well located, being between the M2 & M20, and within easy travelling distance to the coast or many popular Kentish tourist attractions. Despite this convenience, the village in which it is set, was possibly one of the quietest and prettiest I have had the pleasure of staying in for a while. The biggest noise problem was from the local birds, especially the cockerel!
The site is set on a working farm, just behind the hostel which also operates there (perfect for holidaying with non tenter friends?) It is one large field, with clearly marked pitches set around the edge, leaving the centre free for safe vehicle movement and children to play ;0) At the top of the field is a central block with 2 toilets, 2 washrooms, 2 showers, a disabled/family bathroom and a double washing up station - drinking water tap next to this. The facilities were adequate despite the sites almost full status and were kept clean and stocked with soap/paper/tissue throughout our stay.
The owners visit the field frequently throughout the day but in no way is this obtrusive. They were very friendly and Liz even helped me fold my pop up tent when I was packing up!They drop off logs (3.50 a bag) and fire pits (2.00 deposit no longer charged)to your tent, and are happy to advise on local walks (leaflet available), places to eat etc. The chequers inn as other have mentioned, is a 5 minute walk and serves a great sunday lunch - just don't eat breakfast so ensure you have enough room!
A real gem of a site, which has become my new favourite place for a weekend getaway. In fact I don't know why I am writing this review as I want to keep it secret and all to myself!

We camped here the 2nd bank holiday in May - very wet weekend but fab. 1st time camping and now I'm hooked!
Owner was really helpful and friendly. Kids loved the chickens and goat. Showers and loo were very clean and plently of hot water - could do with some pegs to hang your clothes on though!
Would definitely return. Agree with the comment about booking a firepit - an absolute must!

This was our first camping holiday and it was great, that great we are going back in two weeks time.
The facilities include toilets and showers which were very well maintained, also a freezer to keep your cool packs.
The campsite is great for children, and any one who wants a relaxing time sitting by a camp fire (available to hire £20 deposit)
The owners made you feel very welcome, including Rosie the goat and all the chickens.
As we were walking through the plum orchards we was even lucky enough to see a large barn owl in broad daylight. My 2 year old loved every minute running around with the other children, and spotting the wildlife.
There is a pub less than 5 min walk away and lots of public footpaths to explore.

Just returned from a fantastic long weekend at Palace Farm. Simple setup with one large field and smaller area for two tipis. Tents only which was nice and not over crowded, plenty of room for kids to play. We stayed in one of the tipis. Toilet block very clean and hot water throughout our stay. Farm owners friendliest I have encountered camping and happy to go the extra mile (went on web to find out times of trains, supply map of local walks). Regularly wandered around campsite, without being intrusive, to check all ok. Tipis great and kids loved them. Tipis include mattresses and so ideal if, as in my case, seeking to convert wife to joys of camping. Excellent butcher in village and several good pubs nearby serving good food. No criticisms at all. Will definitely visit again.

Friendly owners on site, always available and drive round site in the evening. Large rectangular field, with low trees and surrounded by countryside. Marked pitches with lots of room. Quiet location. Overall very peaceful even when full, although the field is used for ball games and cycling (great if you have children). Campers kept noise to minimum at night, which was good. No playground or organised activities for children - good for the older ones who are happy to cycle and play ball in the camping field. Fire pits available for small cost and wood bought from farmer. Shame about loos - when site was full, we quickly ran out of loo paper and paper towels although owners check the loos twice daily. Hand soap was empty for our entire stay. Bit annoying. Site has 2 loos with basins, 2 extra basins, 2 showers and a disabled loo. Very basic, no frills and OK when site was below capacity but with 20+ tents and at least 3 people per tent, it quickly got unsanitary especially when children are left to attend by themselves! Bit draughty and basic but if you are looking for simplicity, this is acceptable. Showers are free and lots of hot water. Chequers pub within walking distance - didn't eat there but very friendly and happy for children to be there. Other pubs in driving distance do decent 'gastro' food. Chippy in nearby village. Nice to 'return to nature', be with people who are like minded about camping - we would return.

Have just returned from a long weekend at Palace Farm Campsite, Doddington. Excellent A star campsite ! Very friendly owners who made us feel extremely welcome. The site itself is not too large but was practically full when we arrived. Even so, there was plenty of space and we didn't feel crowded. The facilities were excellent, basic - but that's all you need when you're camping - and very clean. Great hot showers and wash cubicles and a nice washing up area. Hired a fire pit at a very reasonable cost plus wood and enjoyed cooking and fire gazing. Not many campsites seem to allow open fires so this was very refreshing to find. The local facilities were excellent too, you must go to The Chequers pub a five minute walk away, lovely hosts there too and made us feel very welcome. Superb ale. The local butcher in the village provided us with the best sausages and bacon we have tasted in a long time plus veggies and eggs. All in all, a first class campsite which we cannot rate highly enough. Go try !

First time visited this camp site - and thought it was great! Very friendly owners and really clean. The children had a great time playing with all the other kids. Because it is a small site, everyone chatted to each other which was lovely. Although it is a smallish field, the owners do not pack loads of pitches in, so the tents are all around the edge of the field, leaving the middle free.
Make sure you pre - order the fire pit, it is great to have a fire in the evening - keeps you warm!
All in all nice clean friendly site - would visit again!

We were first time campers on our visit to this site and the kids loved it! The showers were fantastic, the water was always hot and the areas clean. Everybody we met were very friendly. It rained quite a lot whilst we were there and the field held up very well without any ponding anywhere. The local pub is about 5mins walk away, turn right out of camp site, right again and then down the hill, the beer is lovely and there is a beer garden (there is a short cut through the plum plantation at the back of the site). Make sure you hire a fire pit, and take some coal with you as the wood does not give out too much heat. Be prepared to leave a £20 deposit for the fire pit. If you like to get up really early in the morning then this is the place for you, whereas I kept thinking I wish someone would throttle that cockerel outside my tent; and I wonder if the farmer counts them? If you intend to turn up on a Sunday, then expect to not meet anybody until after 6.30pm. Overall_ fantastic stay enjoyed, plenty of play area, and a great area to detox the kids from Playstations, PSP, etc. Also the campsite is located right next to the Palace Farm Hostel (bit difficult to spot).

Just got back from a wonderful weekend camping here. Very friendly owners, pitch nice size, although a little hard, resulting in a few bent tent pegs. Took our two children aged 2 and 4 who spent the weekend playing with the other children on the site. We were concerned they would be bored without playground etc, but they had so much more fun making their own entertainment. Toilets and showers clean, nice hot water and no queues. Loads of space for everyone to play ball games and run around. Definitely recommend it.

First time visitor this year and impressed.
Site clean and good pitch size. Quiet location. The owner, Graham, very pleasant and clearly takes pride in this eco-friendly site.
Plenty of space for children to 'run around', including a ball area at the top of the field.
Tip: Hire one of the open-pit fires on site.
Will definitely return.
