My wife and I visited Camping Pors Peron for four nights.

The first thing that I noticed was with a 7. 5 metre caravan how tight it was to maneuver a large caravan around the site. The site is shall I say compact and pitches vary in size. We had the smallest I think next to small noisy beach road.

Disappointing the amount of dogs on site. I do not come on holiday to feel as I am in a kennel. The noise at times was not pleasant and several owners ignore the rules about dogs being on a lead.

Never used the facilities as we are self contained. Looked okay. The Chemical disposal point is a trek from the top field. Should have a second. It is also open to the weather, so not much fun in the rain.

The site reception was friendly, helpful and English speaking.

The location to the wonderful beach is great just a short distance from the site. It was a bit choppy with much surf so not ideal for young children or poor swimmers. I suspect some under tow. There is no lifeguard.

I am sure if we had more time we could have had some lovely walks along the cliff tops if we had more time.

Supermarket you in Pont Croix about 5 km away. Worth looking around medieval town.

A great campsite, with modern very clean san facs with loo seats, paper, soap and paper towels. There’s free wifi over whole site. You have a choice of hedged grassy pitches with a mixture of sun and shade. Good MVWP. There’s a small shop, with bread available to order from May onwards. It’s 250 metres from a small beach and the coastal path along the cliffs. The whole peninsular is a mixture of rocky cliffs and small beaches and there’s a lot to do in the area, with a bird reserve and the Point du Raz not far away. The English couple who run the site are friendly and informative about the area, and were very helpful last year when I was taken ill. From next April it will have a heated indoor pool. We paid €15 with an ACSI card.

We found this site from UKCampsite.Co.Uk after reading the reviews.

The owners were very welcoming, the site is clean and well run, the shop is also well stocked with the usual necessities.

The beach that is close by is beautiful and perfect for children but please note that dogs are not allowed on this beach at any time.

There is another beach not too far away (within walking distance) that dogs are allowed, however you need a diploma in rock decent to get there, but once there it is beautiful.

The coastal views are second to none

The surrounding areas have plenty of shops for groceries etc and places to eat, the downside is that you need a vehicle to get to them.

The only disappointment we had was that there is nowhere close by to walk to in the evenings for a meal or a drink and this was also the opinion of our camping neighbour(s) who had arrived a few days before us.

All I all we had a very nice time and would have stayed longer if the sun shine had continued

 Loved this site!

Our first time camping with our own kit in France and we are so pleased we chose to stay at Pors peron. We stayed for 14 nights with another family and were given lovely large adjacent pitches which accommodated our large family sized tents very well. The site is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, the play area shuts at 10 and by about 10. 30/11 there is no noise, except the sound of the waves. Bliss.

Showers and toilets modern and very clean, never had to wait or queue for showers. Large freezer for ice blocks. We made use of launderette and dryers once and they work very well. Adele and Colin who manage the site couldn't have been more lovely and helpful, giving us tips and recommendations about the local area. We ordered delicious fresh croissants and baguettes every day which can be collected at reception. A crepe van comes every Friday evening which the kids loved. Small play area with bouncy castle and table tennis table. Very safe small site and felt happy for the kids to go off and play and cycle.

Lots to do and see in local area and dramatic coastline. The weather was kind and we enjoyed many of the beautiful local beaches. Our favourite being Esquibien and Baie de Trespass. The local village Pont Croix is stunning, we also got most of our shopping from the local supermarket there, Super you which was well stocked with everything we needed and close by. Take away pizzas recommended at shop next to the supermarket, but advise you to place your order early as they were very busy even on a Thursday evening!

There were a number of local fetes going on and we were lucky enough to attend one just a couple of miles up the road one evening and loved the traditional Breton dancing and some Indonesian dancing finishing with a fantastic firework display. Wanted to go to more festivals but just run out of time. Recommend the Aquashow in Audierrne if you get a dismal day. Beautiful scenery and coastal walks which the adults would have loved to do more of but the 7 children in our party were sadly not quite so keen!

If you are looking for a quiet traditional family site and want to avoid those awful big impersonal sites with bars and entertainment as we did, then look no futher than this site. If I could give more than 10/10 I would!

Thank you Colin and Adele for a wonderful stay!

As a family of four, with 2 girls aged 6 and 9, we all agreed that Pors Peron was an excellent site and we would love to return in the future. We stayed 6 nights at Pors Peron and without exception found all the facilities to be spotlessly clean throughout. The quality of the showers is particularly noteworthy. Our girls loved the playground, which included a trampoline and for our final few days, a obuncy castle also.

We were given an excellent, spatious pitch for our stay, but all the tent pitches have a good level of privacy, thanks to partioning hedges, and are very well maintained. The site managers could not have been more friendly and helpful and as per previous reviews, the availability of very good bakery produce for breakfast each day was very welcome.

Pors Peron is a relatively small site and really suited families like ourselves wanting some peace and quiet for their camping, but still having access to excellent facilities and nearby attractions. These attractions include: superb local beach - literally 5 mins walk away, beautiful coastal walking along the G34, wonderfully quiet and scenic roads for cycling, stunning coastal headland scenery at eg Pointe du Raz and some lovely local genuine Breton towns and villages, full of character. The lccal supermarket at Pont Croix is very well stocked and the take away pizzas at the adjoining pizzeria very highly recommended.

This is a well established site, mature grounds with hedges and tree for privacy. It is 300 meters from a beautiful beach. It has a small well stocked shop and fresh bread and croissants are deliver daily from a local patisserie. The local supermarket is just a short drive from the site, through lovely country side. You may be lucky to spot the small dear or other wild life as you go.

Ideal for walking, canoeing, swimming, fishing and many other sports. Near by is the 'petit Medieval City' of Pont Croix. Not far away is the sea port of Audierne with good restaurants and gentle beaches with clear water. In the other direction is Douranenez and Quimper for exploring the shops, museum and art galleries.

Dogs are welcomed on leads. Ideal if you have children as there is a playground with trampoline, bouncy castle, sand pit, swings and slides. Judging by the laughter the children love it.

The site is exceedingly well run by Adele and Colin who have taken over from Graham and Nicky.

They are young and have enthusiasm and will always take time help out if you need it, they put people first. They set high standards, the site is clean and litter free and pitches are well maintained. The showers etc are cleaned 3 times a day, and modern. Toilet rolls and hand towels are provided and the showers are always hot. There is a spacious disabled facility, remember to say you need it when you and you will be given a key.

There is easy access to electric hook up and water and a convenient service point for refreshing fresh water and emptying tanks and cassette. This too is immaculate.

We came for a few days and have stayed a couple of months as it is so relaxing and the scenery so beautiful. Many visitors are on return vacations and have favourite pitches.

We have never stayed at such a convienent site for all our needs, shopping, beach time and exploring. We will definitely be returning in the spring. Don't miss a chance to visit Camping Pers Peron you will not find a nicer site in Brittany.

Still here, but it is so good just had to write a review.

Magnificent!

Great pitches well divided with mature hedges.

Great facilities, toilets always spotless and site immaculate.

Fresh bread can be ordered daily and it is oh so tasty.

Graham and Nikki are lovely and not in your face.

The site is quiet as quiet with a strict no noise policy between 11pm and 8am.

Just get yourself here, you will not regret it.

Owners are very kind and helpful. When a previous site retained my wife's passport in error, they telephoned the site on our behalf and made sure it was there.

Site is impeccably clean and all of the pitches are spacious with good access. The shop is well stocked and the bread ordering system is brilliant.

We could not have chosen a better site for our first trip to France with the caravan

We visited during the last two weeks of August. We had travelled from Calais and stayed overnight in Normandy in order to break the journey up. This was necessary as the trip was about 700 miles from our home in Suffolk. We would have considered arriving at one of the closer ports but we travelled with our two dogs so wanted a short crossing. It was our first time abroad with the dogs and found the experience fine, they stayed in our caravan during the crossing and were perfectly content and the visit to the vets in Pont Croix before we returned was no trouble at all, the owners of the site were kind enough to book this for us when we arrived.

The site itself is lovely, the aspect is very pretty being situated about 300 metres from the local beach at Pors Peron. The site is on a slope but all the pitches are relatively level, at least with standard equipment you will be able to level the van. Pitches are segregated nicely with well kept hedging, either in single pitches or in pairs. The modern facilities are excellent, when we arrived the site was pretty full, although this tailed off drastically during our first week and by the time we left it really did have that end of season feel. Anyway the facilities always coped fine. They were very clean, nice hot water and we never had to queue. The owners were very pleasant and helpful, we unfortunately had some car trouble when we were there and we received plenty of helpful advice and some kind offers of assistance which fortunately we didn't need to take up as our insurers came to the rescue.

We very much enjoyed the local area and whilst we would have probably explored more had we not experienced the problems with the car we still enjoyed visiting Douarenez (good seafood at the harbour), Audierne (good Saturday morning market), Concarneau and Benodet. We also would recommend walking (or cycling) from the local Pont Croix to Audierne along the river and visiting Pointe du Raz, the French equivalent of Lands End. If you fancy a take away Pizza we would recommend the friendly guys at the Pont Croix Super you and there are regular visits to the site by a Creperie van.

The coastline is rocky headlands and cliffs with bays of lovely sand. It is very pretty and when the sun is shining the sea is an azure blue and very clear. The main beach at Pors Peron is very nice although with our dogs we used the adjacent beach just to the West. In our view this was the nicer beach as it was quieter and more sheltered if the wind was blowing a bit. A word of caution however, as others have noted, it is a scramble down to this beach and is certainly not for all. I would also make a more general note the sea is 'fresh' bordering on cold. We are no wimps having been raised swimming in the North Sea but I regretted not packing the kids wetsuits, plenty of the locals wore them, particularly as snorkelling was very popular.

Finally I mentioned the car problems, I would absolutely recommend Caravan Club Red Pennant who came to our rescue when the gearbox on my tow car decided to collapse suddenly late during our first week. Whilst we didn't grind to a halt and have to be recovered there was no way we were going to be able to get back to the UK and the local Kia garage was quoting 3 weeks wait to repair! I rang Red Pennant at lunchtime on the Monday and 48 hrs later they had delivered a nearly new Seat Alhambra hire tow car on a truck from the UK, which in turned collected our car and returned it to the UK. When we arrived home they swapped the cars again. We were able to continue our holiday exactly as planned and they didn't just rescue our car they rescued our holiday. Thank goodness I bought the insurance a couple of days before leaving for France - lesson for us all!

Site was lovely and we would return.

We visited this very lovely small campsite and stayed for two weeks here with our two boys 3 & 6 at the time.

It is not your 'big, brash, pools etc commercial site' but a quiet family oriented site. The boys loved it and so did we.

Pitches are of differing sizes separated by hedges with hookups everywhere. There are also some canvas tents and chalets for hire. All these are arranged around the modern washup/toilet-shower block and children's' play area. The block was clean.

The block also has a big freezer which was free to use for freezer blocks only but some crafty people would place wine/beers to chill much to the owners annoyance.

WIFI was very slow though that I gave up on it after a few days but I think this was a good thing- for me at least as I was able to go on walks/cycle.

Anyway the reception has a shop- maps, drinks, ice lollies, and orders for fresh baguette for the following morning. A lady also came on some evenings selling crepes from her van, something the boys and the friend they made loved.

The campsite is close to some beautiful beaches including one sandy one about 250 metres from the campsite. We pretended to surf/bodyboard whilst here! We found 'Dead Man's Beach a tad busy though.

Close by is the coastal path if you fancied walking. We also did find some walks away from this too.

We came over festival time and naturally sampled the local cidre, delicacies, fries and mussels on visits to village fayres and day trips to Douarnenez, Locronan, Quimper, & Pont Aven.

Our shopping was mostly in Pont Croix, at the local Super you where incidentally fuel was cheapest in the area.

On bad weather days or when we were too tired to drive distances, Audierne was a treat for rock pooling, crabbing, L'Aquashow, a small aquarium and zoo/bird sanctuary. We also did do a swimming pool in a town close by. Here as in most of France (except local pool in Colmar- Alsace) it's 'No Shorts' but 'Speedos' only policy.

Overall Pors Peron is an execellent campsite and will remain on our list of sites to return to, as it was so handy (as base & Roscoff 2 hrs max), quiet, and Nikki and staff being so nice, helpful and lovely.
