Stayed here at the end of July/ beginning of August. We drove in a motorhome from Calais and stopped overnight on the way as its a very long drive. This is a lovely small family run campsite. The pitches were generous and most had hedges between to afford some privacy. The site was very quiet which suited us well, there were lots of children on the site and a fantastic children's play area where all the children seemed to congregate every evening.

Spotless toilet and shower facilities, although there were queues for the showers at peak times.

The surrounding area was really beautiful. The beach which is a 5 minute downhill walk surpassed all of our expectations, it was very very pretty, it also had some good waves which our children 10 and 12 loved. (wetsuits are definitely a good idea if you are coming here and enabled our children to stay in the sea for literally hours on end. ) There are some fabulous coastal walks and scenery from this beach. Nearby Pont Croix (an easy bike ride) is very pretty and seemed to have some nice restaurants. Audienne where we went a couple of times had some superb restaurants (ask the owner for a recommendation) and was great for our 12 year old son to canoe. It was also very good for taking the motorhome lots of places right by the water to park. Owner very very helpful. Difficult to fault this campsite or the beautiful surrounding area.

Wonderful campsite. Choice of great pitches given to us on arrival. Excellent clean showers & toilets. Beautiful beach and coastal walk 5 mins walk away. Nothing else in Pors Peron itself though and did need to go out in the car to nearest supermarket at Point Croix. There is a stunning river walk/cycle path linking Point Croix with lovely Audierne. River great for kayaking too. Its a beautiful part of France and we had a brilliant holiday and would definitely like to return one day. Would highly recommend.

We visited this site in the school summer holidays late July/early August. We took the overnight ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff and the site was just over a couple hours from Roscoff – ideal for our first time travelling to France. We are a couple with 3 girls.

The English owners were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help. The couple who own the site have both sets of parents helping out too so it’s a real family affair. The toilets were immaculate most of the time –occasionally the showers were a bit sandy but that was the fault of the previous occupant and not the owners. The shower cubicles weren’t huge but big enough for me to take my 6 year old in.

We had a pitch at the top of the site near to the road – the only traffic was to the site and the beach so it was very quiet and we definitely had one of the sunniest spots on the site. The site is very quiet and has no entertainment – not for you if you want somewhere lively. We loved it as the kids could play safely and wander off to the play area if they wanted. We could sit outside our awning and have a glass of wine and have the occasional chat with any passing neighbours. The play area was very basic – 2 trampolines, table tennis and a couple of swings. Our kids were very happy with it though.

The weather was very mixed while we were there – ideal if you want to get out and about without it being too hot but not great if you are a sun worshipper. The beach near the site was lovely – great to be able to walk to some days without having to load up the car with the tons of stuff we take! It was windy some days and the sea a bit choppy but on a calmer day it was lovely. There were also lots of lovely beach if you drove for about 20 mins. The southern site of the peninsular had lots of long stretches of sand and the Bay de Trespasses is definitely worth a visit if you like surfing and body boarding. The whole area was very picturesque – a bit like Cornwall without the crowds.

We didn’t really use the site shop except for bread occasionally – we found it a little expensive – especially the ice cream. They were about 2. 2 euros which when you have 3 kids mounts up. If they had been a bit cheaper we would have bought them every day but instead we bought from the local supermarket for about 1. 8 euros (for 3!)and kept them in our freezer. The nearest supermarket was the Super you at Pont-Croix. Some reviews found the French supermarkets expensive but we thought it was comparable with England – obviously it would be nice to find somewhere cheap but I am happy as long as it’s not costing me more than home. Eating out was much the same. There were no restaurants near the site but lots to choose from if you drive a few km.

I would definitely go back to this site. If you have young children it’s perfect – it’s not very lively but if you want a quiet relaxing site where your children can play safely then I would definitely recommend it. We want to travel a bit further south next year and visit the Vendee – if we could find a pors peron there we would book it! We will have to go somewhere with a bit more going on next year mainly because the girls are getting older and want pools and stuff to do – we would be happy here every year!

Absolutely beautiful site and only a 10 minute walk from a fantastic belly boarding beach. Toilets are all spot on but no toilet roll provided so take your own. Showers are all good with signs up stating that 5 mins is the max time allowed but not enforced (how could they any way ?). The nearest town/supermarket is a lovely wee place called st Croix (5mins)but be warned-Everything in France is extortionate except for beer. We went to Quimper for the day and there was a celtic music festival on which included Pipe bands from Brittany (Bagades), Scotland and loads of cider and other really strong locally made meads to taste.

Graham and his wife could not have been more helpful and as we had booked for 14 nights but stayed for 4, there was no problem and we paid them the same day we left. The pitches are bit tight if you have a twin axle van so be prepared to unhitch and shove

Overall, I would go back there but I think 14 nights would be too long there if you have a shopoholic wife.

The site is very friendly and peaceful and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The showers were always clean and we never queued although the site was not busy due to atrocious weather. Washer and dryer are reasonable priced and came in handy. The beach close by is very pretty and lots of reasonably priced restaurants are close by. There was not a great deal to do in the rain though and the site is a long drive from the northern ferry ports.

Overall would recommend site to families just wish the weather could be guaranteed.

We booked in for a few days and ended up staying 5 weeks on and off.

Graham and his team are great and customer service is obviously a high priority. The on site shop stocks most things you could need including wonderful fresh bread delivered every day. Orders are taken for baguettes or Pain Chocolat, mmm.

The pitches are quite private, fairly level, some bigger than others but all well maintained.

Shower blocks are basic but clean, no loo roll provided but plenty of hot water. A washing machine and dryer is available if needed and a large children's play area provided. All this is just a short walk from a great little beach, and lovely walks all around.

Pont Croix is a quaint town a short drive away and then 10 minutes drive away is Audierne, a fishing port with a marina which has a load of festivals all summer long.

We felt that the cost of living was comparable to UK if you were sensible but we didn't have any children to worry about so not sure about entertainment costs.

There are loads of beaches, restaurants and wonderful towns to visit but the area is still fairly quiet even in summer

We fell in love with this area of Brittany, it is just like Cornwall and now have bought a house in Audierne but will always recommend the lovely camp site at Pors Peron.

A lovely campsite in a lovely area.

The pitches are generously sized, some shady, some less so, all divided by beautifully kept hedging and trees. Most pitches are flat and grassy. A lot have access to electricity.

Toilet block clean and modern with hot showers.

Extremely helpful friendly owners. We arrived on a day of driving rain with a two man tent - they directed us to the driest plot and ran some electricity there temporarily and then let us move the next day. He also had tips for local bike rides etc.

On site shop very useful, bread and croissants delivered if you order the previous day by 6pm.

BBQs and fuel can be hired from the owners (as disposable BBQs not available in France we discovered)

Local beach is gorgeous (down a short steep road from the site) and is on the GR coastal route.

Short bike ride to local working mill. Longer ride via Pont Croix to the river Goyen and VTT cycle route along the river to Audierne. Audierne has more beaches and plenty of restaurants.

Highly recommend this site and this area. Can't wait to go back.

We would like to thank you all for the reviews of our campsite. We read them all avidly, as pointers to what we’re doing right and what we can improve on! While we really are pleased they’re so overwhelmingly positive, we also take any improvement opportunities to heart so please do let us know what you think, online and when you visit us. Communication is especially useful if you should have any issues or problems on the site. Fortunately that’s very rare, but the odd occasion where it’s happened has normally stemmed from us not being told straight away so we can fix things before they get to the problem stage. We try hard to be responsive to the views of our guests - we can learn from them all, and in response to the points made in recent reviews we’d like to clarify some things as follows:

Local (Pors Peron) Beach:

It’s one of the most beautiful in the area and, while Finistere is one of the least crowded parts of Brittany even in high season, the beach can get quite popular during the French holiday season in the first two weeks of August. Also, this year was exceptional for surf in Brittany – waves reached 11 foot on some surfing beaches – so ‘our’ beach also had big waves occasionally but such conditions are unusual and Pors Peron beach with its rock pools and river lagoon is happily used by children. There are several other beaches within 20 minutes drive of our site but most families happily use ‘ours’ as the 200 metre walk is so convenient and avoids any high-season parking problems at other beaches, (though these usually only happen between August 1st and 15th.)

Play Area and Quiet Time:

We try to strike a balance on this, so that guests can enjoy themselves but not disturb others. French Summertime means it doesn’t get dark here until 11 pm in July and 10 – 10.30 pm in August, and often people don’t stroll back up from the beach until 8pm to start dinner, so we generally set 11.00pm as the start of ‘Quiet Time’ on the site. This seems to work well for most areas but after consulting guests in the pitches adjacent to the children’s play area, (where excited infants can get noisier than their parents!) we jointly decided that the play area itself would shut at 10 pm, and we’re considering maintaining that rule for next year. We’re very fortunate with the relaxed and considerate guests who visit us here, but we will continue our ‘goodnight tours’ of the site every evening to ensure personally that the Quiet Times are respected, as we know how important this is to our guests.

Pitch allocation:

On our campsite no two pitches are the same which contributes to its great character. We work extremely hard allocating the correct pitch size according to individual camper’s requirements. However, we do get many repeat bookings and many guests book well in advance and request their favourite pitches. We ask for your measurements so we can ensure that you’re allocated to the most suitable pitch that remains available, and to ensure that nobody is ever allocated a pitch too small for their ‘van or tent. We recommend you book as early as possible. When smaller tents and caravans are slotted onto large pitches they are often there as” gap fillers” - only staying for a few nights to fill in before the next booked longer period guests arrive.

Siting your Caravan:

If you have any problems siting your ‘van please just ask us. With our tractor and/or our willing helpers he’ll have you settled in no time!

Coastal Path:

The GR34 coastal path is extremely popular with our guests, and it is well marked and periodically maintained by the local communes. It offers breathtaking elevated views across the Bay of Douarnenez to both the Crozon and the Brest Peninsulas, but of course the hills and cliffs which contribute so much to its grandeur mean that, as with all coastal cliff path walking, care must be taken.

Cycling

The site is quiet for youngsters to cycle round, (with consideration for other guests, please), and the 5 mph speed limit is well signposted. Cycling is very popular here for all ages and offsite there is a great 20 minute route along minor roads to the Pointe du Millier, where there is a free entry water mill museum. There is also an excellent ride on a designated cycle path along the River Goyen from Pont Croix to Audierne. You can rent bikes and a tow- along buggy from us so that the whole family can experience the cycling pleasure.

We thank you again for all your input and great comments and we look forward to welcoming you to Camping Pors Peron!

Very pleasant site in a great location close to the beach. Reception on arrival was second to none and they were able to swap our pitch so that we had easier access with our motorhome. Would recommend this site without hesitation. The site is very easy to get to and find - just follow the instructions given in the post. We found the visit to the medieval town of Locronan most fascinating and the parking there was extremely motorhome friendly. When we visited in August the site was busy but it never felt overcrowded. The children's playground was well used and at dusk it was closed down for the night so allowing campers to enjoy a peaceful evening. You can order croissants and baguettes the evening before you need them, so remember to do this!

Again, if you are in the area, you would do well to stay here.

Just came back from a weeks holiday at this site which we thought was a great site well laid out good sized pitches and all very private, toilet block always cleaned and good showers.

Owners are very helpful and friendly and advised a good restaurant in audienne where we had a lovely meal.

Beach at site really good fun but waves can get a bit rough, my son and daughter like to surf so they went to trepass bay about 15 minute drive but lovely beach.

All in all had a great holiday would definitely go back to this site.
