Stayed here for 2 nights for a small school reunion, we're all in our fifties now. Easy to find, food in the Miners standard pub is excellent, and at £7 a night for a tent, was very cheap compared to a lot of Yorkshire Dales / Lakes campsites.
The site is on a slope, not a problem with a small tent, and has great views. It is quite a small field so don't expect space for a kids footie / cricket game.
It was mainly filled with adults, (+40 YO) which worked well for us, and best suits the facilities / space available.
Toilets could do with a bit of TLC, and a light that stayed on whilst you're doing your business. Showers were great, and reasonably priced.
For a small group of adults, who appreciate a beer, good pub food, gentle walks, and a place to sit and talk, it was ideal.
Some great, and gentle, walks from the campsite.
Friend of our group stayed in one of the bell tents, and they are very expensive for what you get.
If you can't get a table in the pub, there's a couple of pubs in the village.

Good size field with amazing views. Good facilities which were kept clean.
Pub very friendly. Dogs welcome, had some great walks.
Was a very busy weekend and one group in particular were unpleasant playing really loud music on and off until about 3am, flashing lights and lasers and strobes at midnight.
Also the people whose spot I took as they were leaving told me they’d had a good clean up as the people before them had left loads of rubbish including used toilet paper.
They could just do with someone patrolling the site, maybe late morning before arrival times and around 11pm.
Besides the pollution of people this is a really good site and I would visit again.

We went here for a 2 night stay as a little break, the location was spot on along with the service we received.
The food the the pub was very good, but you are best booking in advance as gets busy!
The only negative point was a group on the site did not adhere to the no music after 11pm and kept the site awake until 4am, even after been asked by numerous guest to be quite.

Great stay, enjoyed the August Bank holiday, busy but still plenty of space for each pitch.
Nice atmosphere on site, quiet for sleeping. Friendly welcome in the pub.
All you need basic facilities for off grid. Lovely walk close by down into Winster village.
Secure gate to site, plenty of public footpaths for walks nearby.

The site was nice and the staff were very friendly we had a great weekend break and my daughter also came along in her motorhome with her dog.
The pub was lovely albeit a bit expensive for the food. However this did not put us off eating there.
We will go back hopefully very soon.
You really do need a car to get about as location a bit remote. We did have a car and visited places around so all good with us.

Excellent site with great, clean facilities: hot showers (£1), toilets, washing up area and chemical toilet point.
Large grass camping field with stunning views over the Derbyshire Dales (£7 pp/pn Aug23), 15 minute walk down to Winster village (small, well stocked shop/ post office with very friendly shopkeeper!). 5 mile walk to Matlock (bit far for us and VERY hilly!)
Beautiful, olde worlde pub with delicious, well-priced food. Staff couldn't have been more friendly (v. Popular with locals - always a good sign!)
Would definitely recommend.

Basic campsite with lovely views.
Fires and BBQ are allowed which is great.
The campsite was pretty quiet which was nice.
The miners standard pub food was delicious.
Thankyou so much.

Best campsite for the price that I've stayed at, toilets were nice and clean as was the showers (extra cost of £1 for 5mins) the field is very sloped so 100% need your levellers.
Food was amazing and a nice price avg £12-£15 for meal and had an outdoor "cinema" at night.
Staff were so helpful and nothing was to much trouble, it will be useing this a lot now I've found the little gem

Great pub and lovely staff so would definitely o again if only top eat and drink.
Site facilities could do with some upgrading and perhaps expanding to cope with the size of the site
But other than that, good value for money.

Enjoyable meal in the pub. Staff friendly, particularly the waiting on staff.
The toilet and shower facilities leave a lot to be desired. Two female and two gents toilets with lights that are motion sensitive. Pitch dark when lights not on - solution is to wave your arms in the air! There are unisex showers in one room that has only one basin.
So for washing, cleaning teeth or shaving it is inadequate. To top it all there was a rat bait box outside the shower door (next to the toilets).
Certainly inexpensive at £7 per person, but you get what you pay for. Would return to the pub but not the campsite.
