Absolutely amazing site, love everything about it. The toilets and shower facilities are the best yet, so clean. The site is peaceful and the owners are so friendly and helpful. Lovely walks and bike rides plus a pub 5 minutes away serving lovely food. Enjoyed it so much we have booked up again to stay.

We (being my husband and staffy dog) have just got back from the easter week-end break from this really lovely, peaceful, friendly well appointed site. Soooo relaxing beautiful views surround you, lovely walks. I cannot say enough about their helpfulness, and on top of all that on our arrival back to the van on Easter Sunday we found Easter bunnies and cakes in our awning, what a lovely gesture and a nice surprise went down well with a nice cup of coffee! all in all we agreed it was one of the nicest sites we have been on in 40 years of camping/caravanning. We most certainly go back again. Can, t wait!

We were originally booked at Pandy CCS site for overnight stay on our way down to Gower, they phoned us up & told us that the site was waterlogged and advised us not to come especially with MH so cancelled that booking. Looked on this web site & found Three castles, phoned up and they fitted us in for 1 night.
The main site is small across the road from the farm, we were put on the overflow part of the site over the road behind the farm, the field is flat nicely mown with water & electricity supplies you have to go across to main site to use amenities, Toilet / amenities excellent & very clean even have free WiFi in a barn with WiFi code wrote on table there's a good field to exercise dog in, walked along lane at back of farm to Skenfirth lovely little village & castle.
Would recommend this site if in the area.

Well having just stayed at the Three Castles for 7 nights, I'm not sure I should be telling everyone how peaceful it was.
A great site, greeted by the warden on our arrival, and he would have given us a hand if we needed it.
Showers very large with loo and wash basin in the same room.
Other facilities were, TV in small lounge and an indoor washup facility, they also had washing machine and dryer too.
Local area, the local The Bell is 1 mile a bit posh and set up more for a dining experience rather than a drink whilst on holiday, but they didn't make us feel that way, called in for a coffee one afternoon and walked there for a drink one evening, the track to the village is very pleasant to walk along, no vehicles and goes straight to the Castle.
Dog walk very good, The Bell is dog friendly too.
Must recommend Ed's Eggs.

What a lovely place. The facilities are kept immaculately clean & lashings of hot water for showers. The tv room is a nice touch for those without one and they also supply tv ariel plug ins and cables as the reception is not very good otherwise. The location is so peaceful. Would recommend to any one wanting a quiet getaway. Good walking but very hilly! Dog friendly with a big area to play with your dog in.

We were on the overflow field as it was BH but we were glad about that as the main site felt small.
The facilities were stunning both in terms of cleanliness & equipment. The only issue was on the first morning the showers were cold probably due to the numbers. After that once they were fine.
Both the owner & wardens were very helpful and pleasant. Do make sure that you have everything as the nearest shop is in Monmouth.
There was no phone or TV reception though WiFi could be got under the barn roof.
Food at Bell gastro pub & perhaps a little over priced.
Monmouth very nice.

If you want a quiet, small site away from it all with superb facilities then this is the place for you. At first sight the main site looks a little neglected but the pitches are basically grass with hard wheel runs for caravans and camper vans.
The toilet/shower block is excellent with three spotlessly clean shower/toilet/wash basin rooms and one toilet which for 12 pitches is easily adequate.
If you are a TV addict or want to spend hours online then this is not the place for you as TV reception can be a bit hit and miss and the wi-fi can only be picked up in the barn next to the house.
The dog walk is a small but nicely maintained field on the other side of a small stream from the site.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and there is a generally relaxed atmosphere about the place.
For eating out try the Bridge Inn through the village of Grosmont (the pub in Grosmont is hardly ever open) or the Hunters Moon at Llanvetherine. Both are good value, basic menus.
In general this is a site where you have to be prepared to be away from it all and travel to shops and other places of interest but we had a lovely week here and would recommend it.

Just come back from a weekend at this site. We were on the overflow field which is only used for Bank Holidays (this was explained to us when we booked). In some ways this was better as we had more room the main site did look a little cramped. The outlook on this field wasn't very pretty though as we were facing an old caravan, a broken down van and lots of farm machinery.
As others have said the facilities block is excellent with large spacious shower rooms complete with toilet & sink. Unfortunately the water from the shower was only lukewarm on our 1st day although this did improve and we also had quite a wait on 2 of the 3 days we were staying. Because we were on the overflow field we didn't have a fully serviced pitch but this was absolutely fine except on the last day when it was a little bit of a drag when we were emptying the waste water and toilet cassette as these were both on the main site across the road.
The owner was very helpful and friendly & nothing was to much trouble he even let us use his computer/printer to print off some e tickets for the Dr Who exhibition in Cardiff (our solution to a very wet BH Monday).
Please be aware that the site is quite isolated which in some ways is nice but as they don't have a site shop be prepared for quite a drive (7 miles to Monmouth) if you want a pint of milk for example. There was also quite a lot of road noise which didn't bother us unduly as we were in a caravan but our friends in their tent were aware of it particularly from motor cycles into the early hours.
As others have said no phone signal at all, there is wi-fi but you have to stand/sit in the barn to get it this could probably do with extending to cover the rest of the site.
All in all we enjoyed our weekend, the facilities were good and the owner was great, but would we return I don't think we would if I'm honest.

Three Castles is one of the new 2014 additions to the Tranquil group (adult only) of sites, which we have always found to be of superb quality. Three Castles fits very well into the high standards that are obviously expected, with a really excellent facility block - one of the best we have come across. They are unisex, but comprise luxury units each containing shower, toilet, and wash-basin, so that isn't really an issue. I have never been to a site before that offered free hand-cream, air freshener, and dental floss.
Free WIFI is available, but you have to stand/sit next to the owner's house just across the road. I don't know about TV reception (cables at hook-up points) as we don't watch TV when we are away, and I'm not sure why we would want to.
The owners are friendly, helpful, and obviously go to a lot of trouble to create a good environment for a relaxing stay.
The camp area is quite small, with just 13 pitches, located around a centrally positioned facility block. No pitch is more than about 15 metres from the block (which isn't a problem as there are no smells or noise). A few of the pitches seemed quite shady.
As for the really important stuff of any review. The nearest Waitrose is just 7 miles away in Monmouth. Also an M&S Simply Food. I think I just went to heaven.
No hesitation in recommending this excellent little site.

I echo all the positives said by other reviewers - this is a very nice site nestled in the countryside.
Lack of phone signal was a big problem for us. Also, tv signal was difficult too, despite using the site's tv cable. When I rang to book a pitch, having seen the plan of the site, I asked for one that ensured afternoon/evening sun and near the stream. Big mistake on my part! To be fair, the owner obviously adhered to my request, but on arrival our pitch (number 3) was underneath huge overgrown, overhanging trees and it was quite boggy. The pitch saw no sun whatsoever until the middle/late afternoon, so although the weather was very warm, we didn't feel the benefit of it till later on, in fact we found it quite cold. Our awning suffered badly from sticky sap from the trees, too. I would like to suggest that the owners trim back the trees to make the pitch better.
The facilities were lovely, although I'm not a fan of mixed usage - prefer separate ladies/gents. The only fault, if you can call it that, I can find with them are the toilet roll holders - white plastic holders on the floor of the loo - don't quite understand that when everything else is so top-notch. But if that's the worst aspect of the site, then just goes to show how nice it is.
