Awesome to say the least. This has to go down as the best site I have been to. So peaceful and the surroundings fantastic. The shower block is 5* amenities. Max the resident dog is smashing. The owners are extremely friendly and very very accommodating.
Plenty of walks surrounding the site. The three castles are all within walking distance. 2 of which for the more serious walkers. The lane outside was enough for us two oldies and our dogs which takes you to Skenfrith Castle.
The nearest pub is a lovely 1 mile walk. Take plenty of cash with you. A bit on the expensive side.
2 other pubs approx 4-5 mile drive. All in all fantastic place and I highly recommend this site for a nice quiet get away from it all location.

The Angel at Grosmont great friendly pub, food and live music! excellent.
The nearby 3 Castles and Big Pit & Iron Works, well worth visiting.

Lovely site in the country. Our pitch was next to the stream, complete with wandering ducks. Very friendly welcome.
Electric hookup and TV. We had no TV cable so owner made us one and loaned it to us for the duration of our stay.
Toilet block superb - toilet/shower/washbasin cubicles in a 'bungalow' in the centre of the site, kept immaculately and well stocked with soap, hand lotions etc. Also, small book exchange, hairdryer, communal TV in (very)small communal lounge.
Only real downside is lack of shops/cafes/pubs in vicinity.

This site is a real gem, neat and well maintained with excellent shower and toilet facilities and big level pitches.
The site is ideally located for exploring, with great walks including the Three Castles Walk locally and the Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean both a short drive away.
But, the best thing about this site is the welcome. Tony and Lorraine are great hosts and go the extra mile, from Easter Cards and Eggs and Royal Wedding cakes to loaning us a slow cooker and finding the odd jubilee clip for a quick repair.
We enjoyed regular visits from Max the dog (who has a nose for bacon and BBQ's) and the ducks and we found the locals that chatted to equally friendly and welcoming.
Without a doubt one of the best sites we have ever visited.

We have just returned from staying at this campsite, the toilets are great and the site is very clean, the water, for showering, and washing dishes was very good,
but we will not stay again due to the noise from the road next to the campsite, it starts at about six in the morning, and does not stop until late in to the night,
The area around the site is very pretty, and has a lot to see, but we will stay near to Monmouth next time

My husband and I just got back from an excellent 5 day stay at the Three Castles. What an amazing site. We chose to stay here because Lorraine the owner and site manager was so welcoming and friendly over the phone. When we arrived at the site we were not disappointed. This is a small, but well equipped site.
The pitch for our tent was roomy and flat backing onto the stream Shower facilities are very clean and well maintained. Lots of nice touches such as hand cream, air freshener, face wipes and sanitary bags for ladies. There is a TV room and laundry which we did not use, but both looked clean. There is also a small library which was a bonus as I managed to loan and read a great book. The site also had really helpful information on the surrounding area and things to do. We visited the local church and all 3 Castles which were very picturesque and beautiful. The pitches are well spaced and the location is perfect for visiting local villages, walks and cycling.
Shower and washing up facilities are in the middle of the site so no long treks required during the emergency night loo visit. A small stream runs at the back of the site, which provides a beautiful sound to wake to, accompanied only by bird song and a few sheep and ducks bahhing and quacking.
Overall other than the sound of nature the site is fairly quiet although there was some occasional noise from the road behind the site. This did not spoil our stay in the slightest and we will definitely be returning to the site as 5 days was not enough to fit everything in.
We would definitely recommend this site to a friend. Thanks very much Lorraine and Tony for a wonderful stay and for your hospitality. Al and Bev

The Three Castles campsite is the BEST!
DO go here if: You like immaculate, pristine showers and loo's. There's even a small TV room.
You want peace and tranquillity.
You need a 'kid-free' time-out.
You prefer a site where the owners let YOU decide the 'rules'. I never saw any. Was never told any.
DO NOT go if: You don't get on with dogs. Tony & Lorraine's scruffy old terrier kind of lives on the site. He's a professional scrounger.
You want to party 'till dawn. It's not that kind of place.
You need to live on your mobile. Very limited coverage there and surrounding area.
You hate waking up to bird song in the mornings.
In years of camping, this is easily the best site we've been to. OK, There's no local shop, and a very pricy pub is a mile away. But a little forethought overcomes that. Tony and Lorraine are perfect hosts. Easter Sunday morning we all woke up to find an Easter card and Easter egg each! Has anyone experienced anything like that at another site?
Go visit and chill. We've booked Aug Bank Hol already. XX

What a cracker of a site, not only did the sun shine the whole week we were there, but the site is one of the best we have been on. Lorraine and Tony were lovely and very helpful.
The shower block is very spacious and very clean with loads of hot water. TV reception is poor in this area, but Tony came to the rescue and loaned a 20m cable which we bought of him the day we left.
The surrounding area lovely with loads of walks for all age groups and a trip into Monmouth or Abergaveny isn't to much of a hassle to get fresh supplies. Certainly a site we want to visit again.
Our only negative comments are: We had difficulty emptying the waste water as the drain is enclosed and the waste water carrier wouldn't fit in and while we had very little bother with the noise of traffic from the road, we were alarmed on a few occasions by the speed with which the local tractor sped along the very narrow side roads, with no consideration for walkers let alone other drivers.

Fantastic. This was our first ever camping trip, and we turned up without an extension lead. Tony kindly lent us one, plus a couple of mugs as we had accidentally left those behind as well.
The facilities are spotless, the site is beautiful and very easy to access. Plenty of local walks, lovely countryside. Huge sausages at the Angel pub about 3 miles away, very welcome on a damp arrival night. Will definitely be going there again!
The Bell at Skenfrith looks lovely but we just walked down for a drink; it's quite expensive, so a good place for a special night out.
Plenty of places to visit in the area, either on foot or by car. We went to a vineyard near Monmouth, and also to Tintern Abbey.
Oh, and my grand-dog loved it.

Tony and lorraine are the perfect hosts for this delightful campsite and not forgetting max the dog, (who will help you put your tent up and be the first to greet you!). The showers are to die for, walk in, loads of hot water and free.
The block is newly built and very clean and tidy. There are various walks nearby, the 3 castles being one, (we managed 2 castles!) fish and chips from a local van on friday night at the top of the hill well worth a mention.
The pitches are a good size and the whole site is well spaced and flat. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
