Really peaceful site with helpful owners and excellent facilities. Other campers and caravanners all adults and showed respect for the facilities too meaning that they were kept clean between visits from the cleaner. Just 13 decently sized pitches means the site is nice and quiet too - possibly too quiet for some but we loved it and will certainly be back in the near future as it is just 40 minutes from home.

What a little gem of a site this is! We have used hundreds of sites over the years and without a shadow of doubt this site is in our all time top ten.

Small, just 12 pitches yes, but then that suits us fine. Adults only, again that suits us just fine. Dog friendly, a BIG plus point. Quiet, the odd tractor during the day but virtually silent from mid evening. The owner and staff are cheerful and helpful and it seems that quality of service and letting campers get settled in are more important than getting their hands on the site fees.

All the pitches have electric hook ups and are flat and well drained with gravel standings for caravans and motor homes.

Finally the amenity block. We were blown away by the high standard of the showers and loos, we have encountered worse in some of the better hotels we have used! Washing up and laundry facilities are tip top and the freezer is stocked with ice creams on the 'honesty box' principal. Fresh local eggs are also available in the same way.

If you want on site bars and entertainment, all singing all dancing discos, restaurants, etc then this site will not be for you. If you want calm and tranquillity in the heart of some of the finest countryside in Britain this place is worth a try.

Will we be back? Take a guess!

Small peaceful site 'Adults Only' for 12 units. Best toilet and shower facilities we have ever met. Small tv and information room. Good washing up and laundry facilities. Attention to detail fantastic. Dedicated dog walking area. Excellent walks, plenty of paths to suit all levels including the 3 castles walk. Nearest shops 3 to 4 miles. Helpful and very friendly owner. Will definitely return again to this lovely site.

Just returned from 5 nights at the 3 Castles Caravan Site and have to say that this is the best site I have ever stayed at. If you prefer small, peaceful, beautiful views, very dog friendly and excellent facilities then look no further.

The owners are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Shower rooms are fantastic, best I have used at a camp site.

Loads of lovely walks from the camp site, perfect if you own a dog.

Will definitely be returning

Our first visit and it is an excellent site. Only small (12 pitches) and no children which are both good points as far as we are concerned. And I have to say the best communal area I have ever seen on a site like this, it was worthy of a 4 star hotel (and I should know I spend many days a year in hotels with work) It has 3 'wet' rooms, a washing area, a kitchen area and a small lounge, the cleanliness is spot on and the construction is like that of a house - no breeze block walls and outside sinks here. The pitches are level and large, with alongside parking for 2 vehicles if needed. The site allows dogs and we bought ours (they are extra heating in a tent), there is a small paddock where you can walk them. There is an electric hook up I think rates at 16amps. The location is rural off a B road on a lane so fairly quiet, you will get some country traffic, tractors etc but pretty quiet, in fact the brook that runs around the perimeter is nosier and pleasantly hypnotic.

We managed to visit all three castles and a couple of pubs - would recommend the The Garway Moon Inn, it is a good rural stoned floored pub, food was good, prices low and they allowed dogs in, and a very pleasant landlord, the other pub I cannot sadly recommend - it is the Bell Inn nearby in Skenfrith, don't get me wrong it is probably a good restaurant, but the lunch menu was very expensive and a bit limited - it had copies of country life and 'comfy' sofas, but although I do dine in gastro-pubs they are not want I want in the country on camping hols, I want hearty food, good prices and rustic old pubs with character.

I would totally recommend anyone to stay at the 3 castles caravan and camp site.

We have just returned from a second stay this year and I must say this campsite is one of the best we have stayed on, the owners greet you as friends and not just campers passing through, the shower block is the best we have seen and we have been to many very good campsites, your every need has been thought of.

The owners work very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible, they have staff who live in a caravan at the back of the house so that if you have a problem there will always be someone there to help.

It is situated central for sightseeing and there are so many lovely places to visit, Part-y-Seal is just up the road and well worth a cream tea with lovely gardens to sit and relax.

Needless to say, we will be making it our first stay in 2013, we are a retired couple who spend Easter to the end of October going to all different places in the UK.

After reading the reviews on this site we didn't hesitate to book for 5nights. The weather was not good at all in Wales, but the site did not disappoint us at all, and because of this we had a lovely few days.

All the detailed previous reviews give an accurate description of the site and of the very pleasant owners.

Only a few vans on the site so the facilities were more than adequate, and indeed I feel would be satisfactory even with the maximum 12.

The adult only site makes it a perfect place for a quiet and relaxing rest. We will definitely return.

We have just come back from a wonderful 5 night stay at Three Castles. What a fantastic site this is. The site is made up of 12 grass pitches with drive on hard standing tracks for your caravan/camper or car. The pitches all have electric and tv aerial points and are well spaced out. The site is in a great location and whilst close to B roads we were not disturbed by traffic noise at all.

The facilities are wonderful (almost brand new and state of the art - lights come on when you walk up to the block which is located centrally on the site) There are three rooms which have walk in showers/sink and loo as well as shaver points, mirror etc (as well as some complimentary supplies in case you have forgotten anything) (one of these is fully equipped for disabled people).

There is also a separate loo and basin if you do not wish to use the shower. There is a great washing up room with a freezer for you to use if you wish, again there was even washing up liquid in there - nice touch. There is also a separate laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and sink and drainer for hand washing. Finally there is one further room which houses a TV and sofa and chairs, leaflets and information and books for sale or borrow, I even noticed a small kettle so you can make yourself a hot drink.

There is hairdryer in the main lobby and an umbrella. The owners Tony and Lorraine have thought of everything. There is full recyling and chemical disposal point. On arrival you go over the road to the rear of the main farm house to book in.

The site was not full when we were there - about 7 pitches were in use. At no point did we have to wait for a shower or the loo, which indeed I think would have been the same if the site was fully booked. We took our little dog and were delighted to have use of a well kept doggy exercise field right next door to the site.

There were eggs for sale and also icecream and Lorraine said she was looking at providing breakfast packs in the near future. The local shop is only about 3 miles away at Grosmont and Monmouth about 10 minutes drive or so which has bigger supermarkets.

We had a great time visiting the three castles. Skenfrith can be walked to very easily down a very quiet lane that is across the road from the campsite. The Church is wonderful and the castle, whilst ruined is also very nice to see (and free), there is also a pub in the village.

White Castle has a charge but it's peanuts and worth paying - it's a lovely castle and Grosmont is also free. There is a tea shop in Grosmont as well as the little shop and pub. We visited Part-Y-Seal Tea rooms which is about 3 1/2 miles away (leaflet on site), wonderful experience, the host is the most darling chap who made is us feel very welcome.

We used the site as a base for exploring the Beacons, Talybont reservoir is stunning, if you follow the road past the reservoir you will come to the Old Barn Tea rooms which was also very nice. We are country loving folk so can't really comment much on the local towns, Monmouth was ok for food shopping and we did look at the very old bridge but we spent most of our time outside with our dog.

If you are the outdoor type there is a cycle route to and from all of the three Castles or if you prefer walking you can do a walk to all of them - although it is pretty long. The campsite provide all this information as well as shorter walks with good information on terrain and difficulty.

We had a lovely day at Symonds Yat (West) where we went up to the Rock - the views are amazing, had lunch in one of the hotels and walked along the river (which is suitable for bikes as well as feet). You can take a river trip but we didn't do this, although our neighbours did and enjoyed it very much.

We had a day walking the Monmouth and Brecon canal which was super, including lunch at a put on the tow path - very peaceful.

All in all we had a super time, excellent site, lovely location, great for things to do and would highly recommend. If we went back to this area again I would not want to stay anywhere else. Big, big thumbs up all round.

 Fantastic quiet little adults only,

Dog friendly site,

This site has a great facility block, three very large shower rooms plenty of hooks to hang clothes and towels, lots of room to dry off, always plenty of luxury toilet paper and very clean, very nicely decorated.

Lots of little extras like ice creams for sale in the fridge just pop your money in the box & free range eggs too, nice TV lounge, and washing up room with draining rack washing up bowls and even a choice of 3 different washing up liquids if you forgot yours,

The owners Tony & Lorraine are very welcoming and only to pleased to give info on the surrounding areas and places to visit.

The site is kept spotless and bins always emptied every day, The Bell Pub in Skenfrith less than a miles walk down a quiet lane, more of an eating pub but very friendly and dog friendly too (dogs not allowed in eating area).

Site has a nice field next door to exercise the dog. We would highly recommend this site to anyone looking to get away from it all for quiet break and will definitely be going back.

PS. Poor signal for mobile phones but I class that as a bonus.

We have just returned from this great little site. The weather this weekend was excellent and this certainly enhanced our visit to the area.

Three Castles is an adults only site which we prefer. 2 very hospitable and friendly staff who are happy to talk although we only saw them once (to pay). They live behind the owners property opposite so not far away if in the unlikely event you have a problem/issue etc.

Only 12 pitches all with electric and some fully serviced with mains water and drainage. They are all level with hardstanding where your wheels sit, the rest is grassed, so just unhitch and wind down the steadies!

The only slight problem we uncounted was the outlet from my Lunar Lexon meant the waste pipe had to go 'up hill' to the drain point thus did not empty (Perhaps the drain could be re-located to the sides of the pitch). This meant that we had to use the WasteMaster but it was no real issue.

They also cater for tents but I think this is another field.

The Facilities are fantastic with 3 large shower rooms which incorporate a toilet / handbasin / powershower and electric hand dryer too. There is also a separate toilet too. Another nice touch were the basic essential toiletries that are free to use - Shaving Creme & Hand Creme & nice scented liquid soaps and other items too.

Also inside the facilities building (which is spotless)was a small T. V Lounge/Library, it had 2 comfy armchairs so if you were tenting you could get out of the elements! I noticed that they have a 'boot' drying room as well.

There is a small kitchen area to wash up (with free wash up liquid), a chargeable washing machine and tumble dryer. You really could not ask for more.

I understand that the owners have recently completed this little campsite and in my opinion have set the bar at a great height.

Highly recommended by me for peace and tranquillity and not far from Abergavenny / Monmouth and surrounding areas via a nice drive through lovely smooth sweeping roads.

Not much in the way of provisions near by although there is a tiny produce shop in the village but more like a W. I stall and a Cider Farm up the road! Large Supermarkets within 15 minutes in Monmouth / Abergavenny - Waitrose / Morrissons etc.

Go See and Enjoy!
