We stayed 3 nights over the bank holiday. The toilet block was clean and warm. There was a very small play area for children. We had a standard pitch with elec and have a 5 man tent with awning and had plenty of space for tent and car. The only thing is a lot of the touring fields pitches are on a slope so we had to move the sleeping arrangements round as we were all rolling down! we were at pitch 309.
We went to the club house one evening and children enjoyed the entertainment. Drinks prices were good too. We never ate at the site but can highly recommend the seabirds in Flamborough which is about a 20 minute walk. There is plenty of pubs, cafes, fish and chip shops and a take away in Flamborough with a spar shop that sells all essentials.
The camp site has a swimming pool, soft play area, several bars, amusements, large shop, cafe, take away and fishing lake. Very large campsite with plenty to do and plenty in the area. There is a warden that patrols the site on a night which makes sure no excessive noise goes on too late and adds a bit of security to your stay. Overall a nice site and would visit it again.

Read Team Radford's review prior to going. Agree the site is excellent and very well equipped. We stayed in a tent with EHU for 2 wks with 2 children aged 7 & 12. The walk from touring site to main site was 1/2 mile so we got plenty of exercise but on wet nights you could park the car nearby. From the touring site you had views of the lighthouse although we got used to the flashing beam through the night and the sound of the fog horn. Good security system, felt very safe.
The entertainment crew in the family bar were fantastic putting on panto's 4 nights/wk. My only fault would be with the air con in the bar as it was very warm every night. Very impressed with the kids bar whereby the kids could purchase their own drinks, toys and confectionery.
The chip shop, on site shop and cafe were all excellent. Shower blocks were nicely heated. I did feel that the swimming pool prices were a little steep and should have been included in the holiday price/pass.
We also checked out the Martonian Pub down the road which had lovely food at very reasonable prices. The local roads were slow and it took 1h 15 mins to get to York but it was worth it. Went to Flamingo Land and Magna in Rotheram, which were fantastic days out. Scarborough was lovely. Local town Bridlington was nice and had Tesco and Morrisons.
A fantastic 2 wk holiday. Would certainly come again and would certainly recommend this site.

Stayed for 4 nights in a large tent with EHU in the middle of June with children aged 1, 3 & 6. Staff were very polite & really helpful.
Lovely views from the camping area, a small children's play area next to our tent & a lager one near the main buildings.
3 shows bars with singers & other entertainment, the kids show bar had really good children's entertainment, a 'kids club' from 11am - 12 with various games & activities, indoor pool which was fantastic seeing as we had thunder storms. Ball pool, 2 arcades, indoor play area, the amount of things for the kids to do was great.
Ate in the cafe for breakfast due to the rain & not being able to cook outside the tent, nice enough food.
Showers & toilet blocks were clean & warm. Didn't try the chip shop on site. Covenience store was big. 10 mins drive to Bridlington, 35 mins drive to Scarborough.
Try the Playdale farm park, it's really good & also try a pub 5 mins down the road called The Martonian Inn, it serves lovely food at bargain prices.
Would definitely go back to Thornwick & have recommended to others.

Spent 3 nights at this site. The layout looks a bit off putting as it is all wooden rails but got to say there is plenty of room on the pitches.
The pitch we were on had its own tv aerial point, water and waste water maybe a few bushes would help. We had dreadful weather so didn't get to do much walking but can see would be plenty of good walks.
Visited the club complex one evening and would say plenty to keep kids amused and as an adult only section which is good if not away with kids on the night we visited had mini quizzes, bingo and an act, we were made very welcome.
We had a meal from the bistro which was ok. Also visited chip shop which was lovely. Not sure this is our kind of site as very large static site with large camping site but would say all staff we had dealings with were very friendly and helpful.

Very big site we booked a large EHU pitch which was flat bit some pitches were slopping.
Brilliant location access to lovely cliff top walks and little coves ideal for rock pooling didn't go to pool or the club so can't comment on them.
Daughter used the Takeaway for a pizza said it was nice. We used the chip shop was ok but not brilliant.
The family shower rooms are very good lovely and warm and with a sensor for the shower.
Only downfall for me was there wad a group of about 8 tents together who let their kids just do what they wanted play football near other tents their dogs of leads when it clearly states they must be on leads and the parents playing car stereo from 7 in the morn far to loud security just drove past and never said anything.
However that said I would go again if in the area.

We stayed here as part of the East Yorkshire Rally 14-16th Oct. Hardly a rally as we had electric hook-up, water and were on a super pitch!
We stayed on pitch 3 which was huge and backed onto the toilet block. Each 'normal' pitch is separated by a wooden frame which from a distance looks like a graveyard. There is a small park but it wont entertain the over 8's. The 3 showers looked clean but dated and there were at least 10 toilets. It was odd, they were always clean and yet you never saw anyone clean them!
Hidden next to the chemical disposal point is a door and in here are the family showers. These look brand new and are lovely. We used them. There are 6 of these and had proper showers which didn't have silly push buttons which last 5 seconds, again these were beautifully clean. There is an entertainment complex here with swimming, amusements and a club. We didn't use the club but did go swimming, the pool isn't huge and I would imagine during peak season it would be heaving. We were lucky and it was fine for a splash about for an hour. The changing facilities were clean but dated. There is a gym with sauna but we didn't find it nor did we visit the chip shop. The coast is a little too far to walk with little ones but only a 5 min car ride away, we are familiar with the beach, and visit the coves. The lighthouse isnt visitable but you can get to the foot of it. A beautiful part of the county and well worth a visit. The site staff were pleasant and we loved it, will definitely go again but wouldn't go peak season.

We have just returned from an enjoyable weeks holiday stay on this site (aug 2011) and Halloween weekend (oct 2011). It is a large commercial site, with pool, gym, club house, take away, cafe, arcades, entertainment etc.
We have been to this site quite a few time over the last few years and have to say that its good value for money.
There were ample toilets and showers - but the hot water did run too hot to safely shower young children (the swimming pool showers had a more constant temp). The facilities were clean, but could do with some updating. The new addition of the family shower block is a start but more needs to be done to update the rest of the touring area, rather than just doing up the static part of the site
There were plenty of notice boards around reception to inform of the nights events in the bars. The reception staff provided info on arrival but as we had been here on several occasions we knew where we were going- they were helpful and friendly.
The entertainment team delighted the children. They even kept us adults entertained too.
There was a small charge for the swimming pool (weekly passes are also available), but we were happy to pay that and get in a nice warm clean pool. It would be better if the pool was open all day rather than having timed sessions, the changing rooms are small enough without the hassle of everyone trying to get changed at the same time.
The beach next to the site is stony, but has some great caves worth exploring - whilst Bridlington boasts several other sandy beaches, these are all well worth a visit.
Megabytes cafe/ bistro is expensive so you couldn't eat out all the time, the only other place to eat is the fish & chip shop unless you get a snack from one of the bars. Eating in was the only option as take-aways every night would have bankrupt us
The site shop is understocked and only seemed to sell tinned of frozen foods as well as novelty gifts, the early close time (5:30pm) also meant that if emergency supplies were needed, it was a trip out of camp to go get them.
The site had a visible security presence, but there didn't seem to be any occasion that we saw when they were called upon.
Overall we had a great time and will return again, but this site could be fantastic rather than good if the management just did the updating of the touring site.

Just returned from a fab weeks holiday at this site. The EHU tent pitches are lovely and big (big enough for our Sahara 6, extension, car and trailer).
The pitches are a mix of tents and caravans and we were made to feel like the poor relations by some snooty 'caravanners', however this didn't put us off our holiday.
We were located near the play park so the kids were happy and made plenty of friends.
The facilities are a bit 'dated' but nothing to complain about everything worked properly, plenty of hot water and never had to queue for the loo or the showers.
The shop on site is well stocked if not a little 'overpriced'.
We used the clubhouse three times, the entertainment is a little cheesy and the drinks quite expensive but the kids enjoyed it.
Overall we liked this site and will probably return as there was plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Our family had a really nice 4 day stay here even though we had really crap weather windy and rainy we made the most of it.
The site was really nice toilets clean and tidy although cleaner was in at 7 am which was the time I woke up and was bursting and had to wait til they had gone.
On site shop had everything you needed but shut at 5 30 which was a bit of a pain.
Didn't use the pool but looked ok. Kids enjoyed playing at the little park near our pitch made lots of friends.
We would go back to this site as its only a hour drive from home and everyone was friendly and the site was tidy

I have been to this campsite many times over the last 15 years. It has excellent facilities on site with a shop with good choice which is not bad in price.
There is also a kids area, small inside pool and a very good entertainment centre which is split into 3 areas, a large concert room which is great for the kids with kids entertainment, disco etc, there is a adult only bar with tv and again and adult only bar with entertainment usually a singer.
There is a small charge for a membership which is a couple of pounds however I believe you can use it for the full season should you go back again. There is also a small fishing lake on site, which I believe there is a small charge to use, having not used this, I'm not sure if it is good or not. There is also on on site fish and chip shop which is excellent.
The toilet and showers are good and there are three large blocks around the tented area. The location of this site is a few miles to flamborough town centre with a good choice of local shops and restaurants with good pub food. It is also close to the larger seaside town of bridlington and Scarborough a little further afield.
The negatives about this site is that it does get very busy during peak times and does seem to cater for static caravans on site, they have also sectioned of individual tent pitches which are close together and if you have a larger tent you may struggle to fit into. The price for the tent pitches have gone quite considerably and are on the higher end of what you would expect, but compared to all the on site facilities is still good value.
Overall this is one of my favourite sites and I do visit at least once a year
