We visited this site for a week just 2 weeks after campsites were re-opened after lock down. We've therefore tried to make our review fair based on the situation. We're unable to review the pool because it was closed. Unfortunately, the service engineer kept promising the campsite he would turn up to service the pool, but never turned up until the day we left. It was a shame, but in the circumstances, the pool would have been a bit of a bonus.
The campsite is quite large with a lot of unused tent pitches on one side of the site, and about 90% of caravan/motor home / electrical hookup pitches in use. A large proportion of these are seasonal pitches and it was clear that they were in a bad state following the lock down, so we can only assume that things will get better as regulars start returning. The bins were emptied twice while we were there, and both times there was a lot of larger items next to the bins, which would probably have been cleared out in April/May in normal years.
The large portion of seasonal pitches means that weekends are extremely busy and the playground is often dominated by older children. However, during the week, the atmosphere is much calmer and there is plenty of space on the playground for all ages.
The toilets were kept very clean and in very good condition. Considering about half of them were closed for refurbishment, it was surprising that the toilets weren't particularly busy.
Pitches are generally flat and we didn't need to make any sideways adjustments. There is plenty of space for a caravan, large awning, car and outdoor grass space so the pitch sizes are reasonably generous.
The staff on the site were extremely friendly and very helpful. We felt very welcomed by them all and found their manner to be extremely helpful and positive. The warden was particularly approachable and very relaxed and had a good way of speaking with people. The security guard at night was very helpful letting us in through the height restriction with bikes on the roof of our car at 9pm.
The cafe ladies were really nice to our children and nothing was too much for them to do in customising food. They also gave them both a free ice-pop as a treat when they finished their breakfast which was a very kind thing to do and gave some really good advice about a beach to go to from about 2 hours before until about 2 hours after high tide - next to John's cafe right next to The Ferry Inn - the water forms a lagoon which is really pleasant for children. We didn't try the roast meal because it was a bit cold to sit outside on the Sunday and inside the cafe was quite smokey from people who had been smoking near the doorway.
There's no site Wi-Fi but O2 coverage (and their piggy backers) is pretty good with 4G available over most of the site.
There's an on-site shop, but it was closed the week we were there because it was changing ownership. This is why we've gone for 4 stars rather than 5 because it would have been nice to have known in advance that it wouldn't be open, especially as we already knew the likelihood of the swimming pool facility was low. However, there's a Lidl about 3 minutes walk away.
If we were to go to Hayling Island again, we would definitely consider staying on this site again.

We were really amazed at how accommodating the staff were, firstly we forgot our electric cable and a very polite young man went and got me one to borrow, he called a local hardware store to get the connecting part I needed,
Then we had to leave early after such a lovely time as our dog was sick, the lady in the office was so lovely she rebooked another date and carried over the nights we hadn’t used, she didn’t have to do that, but that is how e setons who worked there was, just so pleasant.
The site was so quiet, it was clean and our pitch was lovely and big and it was a lovely break, we can’t wait to go back, absolutely recommend this site 10/10

We came to Hayling Island for kitesurfing holiday. Staying at The Oven campsite was really nice experience, it's about 5mins drive to the beach, there's Lidl in walking distance, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The campsite is adequately equipped for our needs, spacious and green, enough choices for sun and shade lovers with open spaces and big trees around.
Pleasant stay, will come back.

I was expecting to choose my pitch. I found it very organised, but less freedom for yourself.
Friendly staff and very clean.
It is just 5 minutes by car from the nice beach.

Staff lovely, pool closed due to Covid obviously but would say normally very good value for money stay.
Site and facilities generally good, the issue for us was the permanent stay touring vans and the eye sore. They are all grubby and rubbish and broken items surround each one, shame really as park staff did not fit what you see.
Location great, Lidl next door also helpful.

Our pitch was in poor condition
The site in general is a bit tired with most pitches having season long caravans pitched on them that look really untidy
Cafe was good and people were friendly
I wouldn’t go again

Mainly a residential site, with touring pitches and also a dog-free field.
Good things: On arrival nice friendly welcome, decent size pitch. Bus stop outside and Lidl 5 mins walk away, nice walk down to the beach, and two pubs within 20 mins walk.
Good kids playground and a small swimming pool. Cafe on site (didn't use).
Bad things: Toilets and showers are NOT clean - they did not clean them at all from the Friday evening up until we left on Sunday lunchtime - by the Sunday morning, only 2 of the 4 toilets were just about acceptable - no toilet paper and handryer not working - no paper towels.
Water from 'drinking water' taps had a very strange metallic taste - bought bottled in the end.
Shame, as this could be really good but it's like they just can't be bothered with the facilities.

Just spent a weekend at the campsite & it is like 2 campsites in one. Tents in one area & 50% residential caravans with awnings & 50% for campervans & caravans in the other side of campsite.
Some of the residents caravans could really do with a tidy up, ie a good wash
It would be nicer if they had a shower & toilet block for the tents as well. The shower block which is already there works fine but needs an attendant to clear away mess left by campers.
The owners are lovely & the shop is well stocked. We were welcomed & were given a map of where our pitch was.
Great place to stay for tents

On arrival paid at reception, but no map of site or facilities available just a receipt to hang on tent with basic rules on back, no mirrors or sinks in shower block, had to shave in toilet, then go round back to shower block(no lights working in there).
Lots of permanent caravans on there looking a bit drab. Dogs running around despite rules saying dogs should be on leads at all times.
The 11pm to 8am no noise rule was not enforced, had to put up with shouting teenagers.
Toilets & showers are cleaned regularly, although some residents liked to mess them up leaving toilet un-flushed and loo roll everywhere. (which I don't blame site for)
Will not be visiting this site again.
I do understand everybody has different opinions, this site was just not for me.

We had a touring caravan with electricity for the weekend. Toilets and showers were adequate- boiler broke down on the Sunday morning, so no hot water! Toilets get very dirty during the day, lots of tissue on the floor etc. They could do with being cleaned more often. Pitch was fine. Electricity worked. Location good.
The problem is the unsupervised children that are left to run amok on the site reserved for people with dogs. Although the road is one way and has a limit of 5mph for cars, that does not apply to the children on bicycles and scooters who have no road sense and race along the road without looking where they are going directly toward cars using the road! pedestrians going to the ablutions are also at risk from the unruly children. These children are there nearly every weekend it seems as there are complaints from other people too.
