I found the staff to be very helpful when I rang with queries regarding our pitches.(we had booked 5 and wanted them to be together) When we arrived there was the minimum of fuss as to how we could site our various caravans and tents. The pitches were reasonably sized, although I did notice some tents (those with pods in a cross form) had difficulty fitting their tents onto the pitch.
This is partly because there are many touring vans on the site that are obviously sited there all year and fenced around. At least two thirds of the field were occupied by long term caravans.
There were 3 fields in total and the toilet facilities were not adequate. Those in the tent field having a long walk. The toilets and showers did not appear to be cleaned or maintained very well. The whole week we were there one of the toilets in the ladies had the seat missing and there were tiles missing in one of the showers. As the toilets were very slow to fill after flushing, they were often left in a dirty state.
Ball games are not allowed in the camping field but the playing field is too far away and is just a bumpy earth patch with goal posts. Not good to play cricket on! The small playground was adequate and the small pool is well policed so that little children don't feel intimidated, it was also very warm!
Outside the site there were many pubs and restaurants. The carvery at The Barley Mow being very good value at £3.50 every day except Sunday. The local Co-op is not too far away as the shop on site is rather limited. There is a very good fun fair near the pebbly beach, I was disappointed that there are no sandy beaches on Hayling Island

We visited this campsite for our first camping trip. We found the people very helpful and friendly and the owners very laid back about us pitching our tent. (We pitched our tents facing our neighbours, to make our own little village with a gazebo in the middle so had to remove small fence and put it back after)
None of us had ever been to Hayling Island before and we had a great time and can't wait to go again.
The toilets were a little smelly, but generally clean and the same goes for the showers - a pair of crocs are a really good idea for both! But when you are camping can you really expect much else?
Would most definitely visit this site again.

We booked 3-4 weeks in advance, when we turned up no one knew nothing about our booking, so we got allocated a very small pitch with no hook up and next to a very full smelly rubbish bin. We were given discount.
The park is very small and is only suitable for toddlers, the pool is very small and hardly open. Not much to do for 8-13 year olds. The very small cafe is ok but tends to get very busy and you can be waiting a while. The shower block needed updating and the hot water wasn't constant and the locks on the toilet doors weren't great either.
However it is next to a main road on the island so catching the bus was easy but expensive.

Lovely Island walks in local area.
Shops within a 5 min drive.
Took the dog with us.

Just got back from a long weekend in the oven, hayling island. We went with family and friends and had a great time. There was a small shop, that had everything you need, at good prices, a cafe, a games room where you can play pool, a play park and an outdoor heated swimming pool. The shower blocks and toilets were clean. There was a children's entertainer at the weekends in the evening, which was really good. The beach is only a 5 minute drive with an excellent funfair for the children. Will definitely be returning there.

We have just come back from a weekend on this site and it was our first camping trip as a family.
We thought that the site was great for kids, in particular the little playground and the heated swimming pool ( which is like a bath as mentioned in a previous review). We also saw Pony rides taking place on the saturday as well as a children's entertainer and Disco outside the cafe in the evening.
Although we heard people commenting about the noise at night, I have to be honest and say that we really didn't find the noise that bad ?
The shop on site, whilst it is small is great value and had everything you might have forgotten to take, the couple that own it are really helpful, and it was all reasonably priced.
We never used the cafe for food, but did pop in for a coffee and it was lovely and clean.
The only downside is that the toilets are quite far, which when you have children can be quite a walk for them when they need to go in the middle of the night, But they were clean as were the showers.
We would recommend this site and have already started to arrange our next weekend there.

The toilet hygiene has not changed from the previous review. There are bits of old fridges and freezers around the football pitch, and the caravan part seems to taken over by permanent / semi-permanent residence. There is a long walk to the toilets from the camping field as there is no direct route. I doubt we will return.
Hayling island is nicely situated for access to Portsmouth and Chichester. The beaches though stony offer hours of entertainment, fishing will apparently get you plaice, Bass, dogfish, and mackerel dependent on the season. From the beach you can get a view of the Isle of Wight. Bosham (pronounced Bozzum) is a nice little village for a walk, with one or two shops and is where King Canutes daughter is buried. Also if you look around the church you will see crosses carved into the stonework, which apparently were done by the crusader's just before they left.

Chose this site for a first time camping expedition, due to the reviews I had previously read on this website. Really enjoyed the whole experience. The site staff where very helpful, and we practically had a whole field to choose where we pitched our tent, so had plenty of space. It was relatively quiet after about 10ish in the evening. The only down side to this site is the toilet and shower blocks. I was really disappointed and made sure we all kept our 'crocs' on when we used either (including the showers!). There is nowhere to hang clean clothes, so you have to put them on the floor outside of the shower, and then either get changed really quickly, before anyone else comes in or go back to the tent wrapped in your towel! The site is also half full of what I can only assume are full time occupants, and they do look at you as if you are treading on their turf, but we didn't get any problems. The surrounding area is great. Hayling island is good, with a cheapy fun fair for the kids. There are also a couple of lovely local pubs - the ship inn is one, where you can get a great meal, and go 'crabbing' - hours of fun, with a hook and a line! Ham is more successful than bread as a bait! Overall, I would recommend the site, but not if you are too fussy about hygiene!

We had an electrical hook up pitch which was a good size, although some looked smaller. As said before there are a lot of permanent caravans that had been fenced off. Although the owners around our pitch seemed very nice it did feel a bit territorial. On one occasion I had a caravan owner tell me not to tip my waste water down one of the drains as it was only a soak away and told me to use the one near the toilet block - then when I used the one he'd recommended I was told again by another person that I should use the chemical disposable drain (even though my waste was only washing up water)because other people may use it for human waste if they see me using it. I would have used the chemical drain even though it stank but it was so far off the ground I could not lift the carrier it even if I wanted to.
There wasn't much area for the kids to play in this particular field and the play ground was small and was mainly dominated by groups of kids who I assume had permanent caravans.
The toilet and shower block was not very clean and smelt most of the time, but showers are free. The shop was small but had basic supplies. The people who run the shop were very cheerful/friendly and helpful. There was a cafe on site but we didn't use it.
In the area there isn't much to do but they do have a small fairground on the beach front which was well priced and the kids loved. There are three pubs about a mile either side of the camp site which sell food. Behind one of them is a Tesco Express which is handy for stocking up.

Large basic field for camping with plenty of play area for children - no lighting anywhere.
Showers/Toilets were AWFUL. Very unclean and smelly with mouthy youths hanging around. My son and I weren't brave enough to use them after dark.
I think this park is more friendly towards residential caravans.
Pool was lovely and clean, great for children. There's a little play area for little ones. And a small cafe which always seemed popular.
Would not choose to return due to the shower/toilet problem.
