Let me start by saying that we only stayed for one night, which is not long to make much of an impression, but was more than long enough for us.
We were trying out our new folding camper prior to our proper holiday if a few weeks, so wanted an EHU, just to make sure it worked, in addition to the battery.
Because of our need for the electric, we were put in the caravan field, which I had no objection to, until we actually drove in there. As has been mentioned before, about 80% of the field is given over to long-term residential caravans with fenced off 'Gardens'.
Most of them looked filthy and uncared for with long grass around, and the overall impression was 'Trailer Park' US-Style.
There had been heavy rain a few days previously, and half the pitch was waterlogged. Luckily the other half was slightly raised and was dry and firm.
The toilets were gloomy, and several door locks didn't work. The sinks were very high - my 6yo had no chance, even though he's quite tall for his age. The indoors washing-up area was clean enough, but again the lights seemed never to be on.
The pool looked clean but very small.
The shop was very reasonably priced, and staff friendly.
The play area is only suitable for toddlers really, is much too small for the size of the site (350 pitches, apparently), and is in dire need of attention.
The plywood platforms were sagging badly, and half the fixings had come away so that they were flapping around. Because of the earlier rain the ground below the swings and at the end of the slide was just a mud-pool. Some wood chippings would not go amiss here.
There is a pleasant walk (Hayling Billy) a 5-minute drive back up the Island, and the beach (mainly shingle, with a bit of sand at low-tide) was OK with nice high groynes to use as shelter from the wind.
To sum up, it was ok for our needs - one night to test a camper, but would I go back? Absolutely not. The camping field may be better though.

Over the year, this is the the most expensive site we have been to, and definitely the worst for value too.
We asked to move our tents (in the dark), where we were then given a plot amongst resident caravan owners - this lost the whole camping amongst tents atmosphere.
There were plenty of facilities. Showers, toilets of average cleanliness, rubbish area with overflowing bins. There is a pool, that needed a clean, and there were children in there, saying 'you can't do that, we own this campsite' (Probably the owners children). There is a small shop on site which was well stocked. And the children's play area was clean and tidy.
May have been the time of year, and where we were pitched, but it seamed about 80% of the campers/caravaners were long term residents.
On a positive, the main tent pitches are adequate size, there are plenty of water points and you're not too far from a local carvery restaurant and beaches.
If the prices were lower, we may have tried it again, but in the tent area, to give it a second chance. But would tell people to be careful when booking site.

We stopped there for a weekend and found the site very nice and friendly staff too very clean and well stocked toilets, only downside was no nearby pub. On arrival if the office is locked you go into a field which is very good till next morning
Very reasonable rates we paid £19.00 a night with hook up which I thought very reasonable
The pool could do with some more depth markings possibly on the poolside, as my little boy jumped in thinking it was shallow, he got a shock when he went under

To get straight to the point, this place is in need of a refurb as far as facilities are concerned, but that is exactly what is happening. The building work is well under way but in no way does it ruin your stay. The pitches are flat and well cared for and everywhere is clean and tidy. It is also very reasonably priced. This is also the only site we have stayed at that has it's own very well cared for swimming pool. While we were there they had a children's entertainer that even managed to keep our pre-teen happy during her 'difficult' stage.

This was a great campsite. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The facilities were really good in that there was an on site shop, a pool and a cafe where you can get a really nice fry up for a reasonable price. The toilets, shower block and washing up area are free to use, and clean. They could do with a bit better lighting in them, but that would be my only complaint about them. The site is well provided for children, and the tent camping site is well sheltered with lots of trees, and plenty of space. It's well placed for Portsmouth and Southampton and we'd happily visit again in the future. Very reasonable prices for all that's on offer and our camping trip was an absolute pleasure.

I recommend this campsite to anyone of any age.
I took a visit to this campsite with my family and there are great Facilities near by such as :
A great beach where we spent to whole day.
A fun fair on the beach which was really cheap, about 7 pounds for a wristband for 3 hours.
A bar/carvery called the Barley Mow which was very nice.
Friendly atmosphere, great shop on the campsite,Great park, and swimming pool.
I did not have any trouble with the showers and toilets either.
Lovely in the summer :)

Just got back from a short midweek stay at the Oven. We chose this site as it is near to home and we wanted to try out our new tent before our main camp later in the month. We were not put in the tent field as we had requested electric hook up. So we were in with the caravans, which was ok but most of them were residents and looked like they had been their a long time.
The ladies showers and toilets were clean, but my husband said the gents were very dirty and smelly. The tent field looked good with good sized pitches and a more relaxed feel.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the pool was very warm and great for the kids.
If we did stay again I would definitely camp in the tent field and not bother with electric, as it felt quite intimidating to be surrounded by the 'residents' who were not as friendly as the staff.

This site had a very good shop, small pool and children's play area. It is probably good for younger families with young children or one-night stays. The bins were overflowing with rubbish and I have never seen so many flies as we did here on any camp site.
I got bitten by something here within minutes of arriving. The hand basins in the toilets were too high and I had to stretch over puddles to get to the taps. Children had no chance of washing their hands unless they were lifted by a very tall adult.
There was no where to hang my clothes in the shower room. We only stayed 1 night, which was more than long enough for us.

We spent the May Day Bank Holiday weekend at the oven and were very impressed with the facilities available. The pitches were a good size and although the showers were not very efficient at peak times they were clean and off peak really good.
Nice friendly atmosphere and a good safe environment for children.
We thought Hayling Island was really nice and the beach was fabulous very clean. We enjoyed the carvery at the Barley Mow so much we went there twice. The Life Boat Inn was a good pub for watching the games on Sunday with 3d tv if you wanted to watch in 3d.
We would definitely go again.

Stayed 5 days after spending 9 days in Cornwall,
Staff were helpful and friendly
The pitch was small and right next to the main gate and we had to share our hook up with the caravan on the next pitch, the swimming pool was small and always seemed to be booked for a private party.
Tes children of the people that appeared to live on site threw their litter on other peoples pitches but could not put it in the bins as they always seemed full and overflowing attracting plenty of wasps that had no real problem negotiating there way across the road to our caravan.
Toilets and showers were in need of an update, the water was warm and there was never a queue but last years daddy long legs squashed on the mens shower wall gives you a better idea. I did go to the office and complain about no hooks to hang your cloth's whilst in the shower and unable to lock the toilet door but in fairness to the staff they had them fixed by the next day.
The Barley Mow down the road with a £3.50 carvery was good and it was well placed next to the main road but not a lot of traffic noise.
Shop seemed to be well stocked.
It seemed a popular site as I did not see many empty pitches, I think it was over priced and it is not likely that would go back but it would appear that others do.
