Although the site is a reasonable size, it was relatively quiet when we visited towards the end of season. The pitches seemed well maintained, although there were a couple of areas taped off to allow grass to regrow. Only one of the two toilet blocks was in operation, but this was clean and well maintained. Water always seemed hot. Showers were in a separate room from the toilets, a touch I always like. Obviously a busy site in the summer as here were 2 or possibly 3 site assistants. We noticed that the children's’ play area had more than the ‘usual’ club site equipment. The Railway line runs alongside the site, but the noise of the trains was not intrusive. Handy pub next to the site serves good food and there is a lot of railway memorabilia in the bar. Handy for Weymouth, Corfe and Swanage. Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage and grave are nearby.

We have just spent 23 nights on this site and had a wonderful time. We had a pitch at the top of the site along the railway, we asked to be up there and the noise of the trains did not bother us. You start hearing them at about 7. 30 and the last one was usually between 11 and 12. There are two toilet blocks on site I can only comment on the top one as I never went in the other. I once had to wait 1 minute for a shower apart from that I never had to wait at all for the facilities. Hubby complained that he almost always had to wait in the Men’s, not sure why that was. My son said the lower toilet block was the same as the upper one, he used that when he was at the play area and would run down there if there was a queue at the top one. The washing up sinks always had plenty of hot water and we spent many nights chatting with fellow campers whilst washing our dishes. Being there so long we used the laundry twice, for £3. 50 it was an expensive wash that did not get everything clean. If anything needs updating it is the laundry facilities (can’t remember the last time I saw a top loading washing machine).
There is so much to do in the area that even after 23 nights we did not do all the things on our list. If we revisit the area we would happily stay at this site again.

You wont be disappointed with this one. Friendly staff, well kept site with decent enough toilet block and showers. (Two blocks either end of site). Good pub (Frampton Arms)just outside main gate for good but not cheap food (about £12-£15 for main meal) Great road, bus and rail links to all the local attractions and places that you want to visit. The train track actually runs beside the site and every time a train arrives at Moreton Station just outside the site the driver blows his horn to let you know! but this stops about 11. 00pm. The price of the site at £26 a night for 2 people seems a bit steep for what it is but we didn't feel ripped off. We got lucky with a flat pitch but most have a slight incline.

Travelled overnight arrived Monday 10th June to a great welcome by the staff, stayed 17 nights. This was our 5th stay in 7 years and loved every minute of our stay, very friendly and helpful staff, never heard any of the afore mentioned noise, although toilets are aged a bit they are kept very clean and working OK. Well they were in the top block (gents). This was our last visit to this site as we are as now no longer club members after 22+ years but that's another story.

Just back from a week long stay at another pleasant CCC site. Large and kept clean. Next to pub, railway station and road. All the conveniences without being disturbed by any of them, what more can you ask. Large children's play area. Great area for devotees of Thomas Hardy, and the Swanage Railway is worth a visit. The only downside is that the site plumbing looks quite old and is the worst I have seen on a CCC site! Non-flushing loos, dribbling showers, taps not working. Definitely due for an overhaul. Quiet at night except for one occasion when a large group sat up shouting and bawling until 2. 30 in the morning, but a quiet word with the warden the following morning and it did not happen again.

We've been to this site many times and have always been very impressed by the cleanliness and the fact that the grass is always kept short - so horrible on a wet day to have you're feet squelching from saturated long grass. Always the site managers have been been helpful and welcoming. It's always nice to hear the sound of the children on site enjoying themselves. The site always looks very pretty with well kept flowers. Just like coming home when we go to this site.

Just visited this site for two nights and found it pleasant and well kept. Pitches are level around the perimeter but sloping in the middle so levellers recommended. One side is by a railway track. Two toilet blocks one in the middle and one at the bottom of the hill, clean but showing their age. A nice dog walk opposite the site entrance along a dirt road and around fields. Handy for the tank museum and Weymouth new park and ride is £1. 50 all day after Sept 2nd with free bus. Train station outside site, Also pub. Child's play area on site.
Down side to the site is train hoots every 15min when approaching crossing but you get used to it. If you are pitched near top right it can be noisy from pub at weekends. TV reception is dodgy because high trees.

For our sole camping expedition of 2013, we chose this site for it's proximity to the Tank Museum at Bovington! There are many other things to do nearby.
We had a warm welcome from the site manager and indeed all the staff are friendly and helpful.
We were placed on the flat part to the right as you enter the site, right against the boundary with the railway line. As mentioned in other reviews the train does make a bit of a din, but it is not so frequent that it became a pain. In fact the train is convenience for a quick trip to Dorchester or Weymouth if you are inclined. (£5. 90 to Weymouth at 19 to the hour, journey time 19 mins)
The ground was flat but hard. Plastic pegs will be challenged. The groundsheet had a hard time with what I think were tiny cherry stones - some kind of seed anyway - which rubbed through in some places when they were walked on. A dedicated EHU post marked the pitch.
There are two facility blocks. This site is laid out so that everyone is fairly close and it is not too far to carry the washing up. I never had to wait for a loo or a shower or a wash up spot. The facilities are up to the C&CC high standard. The shop carries the usual emergency supplies and ice cream for the kids. There is a shop in Crossways, a few minutes walk away. The nearest supermarket is Tesco in Dorchester.
We were here for the nearby attractions. The Tank Museum is 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. Also within easy reach is Monkey World, Swanage, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland Bill, Osmington Mills, The Royal Signals Museum. There are so many things to do, that we could not help but leave some for next time. Great site, great area.

We stayed here a couple of years ago for one night so decided to come back for a week. Excellent wardens, nice location (lots to see and do) clean loos and plenty of them. The best thing about the camping and caravan club sites is the friendly welcome and then they walk you over to your pitch, make sure you are happy with it etc. All feels organised.
Cant fault this site in anyway. Recommend highly.

We arrived with our California with no booking but could not have been made more welcome.
We didn't want electricity and were parked on a level, sunny site a stone's throw from the facilities, which were spotless.
Very friendly staff.
The best meal around is to be found at Moreton Tea Rooms/Bistro in the old School Room. Only open until 5 pm but definitely worth a visit.
Site handy for Dorchester - with park and ride at Football Club Monday - Friday; excellent market on Wednesday; Hardy's Cottage; Clouds Hill; Weymouth and Kimmeridge Bay all within easy reach.
Top of our list for a return visit.
