It is next to the railway line (as you'd expect if there is a station next door) and you do get the odd train hoot.

This is still a country site despite the train line. It was a shame to find that the petrol station come local shop just up the road from the site had closed down, especially as I'd left all our food in the freezer at home.

A very good site for visiting Weymouth and the other resorts along the Dorset coast without having to drive.

Overall a nice site, very quiet and quite secluded. The facilities are basic but functional and spotlessly clean. We have 2 young children and the family shower room was a great asset. Staff friendly and helpful.

This site was a bit remote for us as you can't even walk anywhere.

There were only a couple of issues during our stay (other than the weather which could have been kinder).

We have a large tent and so booked the jumbo pitch (there is only one). If you need the jumbo pitch do not book this site. It is big enough but it's on quite a steep slope and the orientation of the plot would have meant us pitching side on to the slope and we would have all rolled to one side of the tent! As it was the site was quiet and the staff found us a more suitable spot which effectively meant we used two small plots.

Don't bother with the 'fish & chip' van. It's a lovely idea but the advertised time is when it arrives and you'll find yourself queuing for well over an hour. You'd be better to jump in the car, head down the road to Warmwell holiday village (5 minutes drive) which has an excellent fish & chip shop. You'll be there and back and eating your tea before the van serves the first person in the queue.

Not really for us so wouldn't go back. Too remote and it's a bit exposed for tents, gets very windy.

It's also quite expensive given that the facilities are rather basic.

A lovely site with exceptional wardens who go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. Took bikes but never got to go off site with them as main road outside too busy and the village is too far to get to.

The pub next door doesn't open in the evenings until 6.30. Food is basic and pricey. Kids loved the play area and were very safe on site. Showers were ok, no temperature adjust so at times v hot.

The train station was the best bit as we used it daily to get out and about as the buses are every 2 hours. Fish and chip van visits on a Wednesday as well and was very good value.

Site is great for everyone but if you don't like kids then perhaps not best for you.

We arrived at the site mid-afternoon and were given a choice of two large level hard-standing pitches which are very exposed and provided little protection from the strong gusts of wind which regularly rocked our 3.5 ton motorhome.

We received no literature and only a brief outline of where the service points were located. Reception sells a few basics but there is general stores about 15 minutes walk away (all Pavement).

The condition of the shower blocks is very important to us and we found these to be pretty spartan. The washbasins were in one long row (no privacy cubicles) and water pressure in the showers was very low. Also the spray formed a neat circle all around where you were standing. I’m not a small bloke but do you know the joke about running round in the showers to get wet?

Having said all that they were kept clean and conveniently the two blocks had staggered cleaning times.

Because we don’t want to drive the motorhome off site, its position next to the railway station was perfect for travelling to Weymouth one way and Bournemouth and beyond the other. Being an unmanned crossing the trains did sound their horn when approaching but we didn’t mind it after a while.

If you do drive around in your motorhome there are 4 dedicated campervan parking spaces in the Sandbanks car park which has a great beach and the Sandbanks Beach Café serves a good scone and tea/coffee.

We have literally just returned from 4 days at Moreton and just wish we could of stayed longer!

Excellent facilities - the showers and toilets were always spotlessly clean. The shop stocked all the basics we needed, and with the big supermarket only 20 minutes away anything else was easily at hand.

The fish and chip van that visited Saturday was a welcome treat - especially as the Risotto hadn't gone down too well with the children that night.

The play area was well kept, as were all the grounds, and the friendly, welcoming team made us all feel wanted - a rare treat.

With plenty to see in the local area that we didn't get round to we fully intend to come back!

Having just come from several days at the CCC site at Charmouth / Lyme Regis, we'd been spoilt and for the same price this site didn't compare well at all. No hardstandings, all grass pitches. We were given a choice of pitch (which was welcome) on the 'outer ring' at the perimeter; the 'inner ring' was along the site loop road, with the 'middle ring' of EHUs not in use - if it had been, the pitches would have been very cramped. The toilet block has no cubicles for a private wash, the two shower cubicles are pokey so you're fighting with the curtain, the shower is the push button type, and if someone is using the one next door, there's only a trickle of water. The motorhome service bay has no grey water dump. There's an adequate off-lead dog run in a small wood where the older children also hide and play (and not all owners pick up after their dog - we did it for them), and a popular well-equipped play area. Good recycling facilities. We were on the site farthest from the train line that other reviewers mention - we only heard the occasional toot, but the road noise did carry far.

Lulworth Castle is interesting, and Lulworth Cove is superb, the walk to Durdle Door is steep but worth it. Can't recommend Abbotsbury Gardens - we visit a garden most days and found this one over-hyped. Dorchester Market on Wednesday is amazing - for motorhome parking, follow the signs for coach parking and ask the supervisor where to go: he put us in a coach slot and was fine when we paid the Short Stay fee. Best to collect a bag of various coins as the meters don't give change (in Dorchester, Lulworth or any other place we visited).

Would we come again? The Wardens are friendly and helpful but we won't be back: at 25 GBP per night, it's almost twice what we paid on other non-CCC sites for the facilities that we need, of similar quality; or the same price as luxurious Charmouth (which was worth it), so we'll look elsewhere next time.

This is a great camp site to stop. The people who run it are so nice and very helpful. The camp site lovely and hit is very clean and tidy. I could not find anything wrong with site at all.

Toilets and showers very clean has well. The site has very good drainage and the water drains away fast. You can hear the train go by, but it didn't bother us at all.

Weymouth is only 6 mile away and Bournemouth is the same 6 mile away. Tesco is just out side dorchester. The dinosaur museum and the tutankhamun exhibition. Both of these arn't worth the money in my opinion.

Dorchester the parking is very bad. Only short stay parking 4 pound for 4 hours. Only 1 long stay car park only got a small amount of spaces and we could never get one. Dorchester is about 6 mile away.

Just returned for a 5-night trip at Moreton, and had a great time!

I got the dates mixed up and arrived a day earlier on bank holiday Monday, doh!

Luckily, the site had pitches available, and the helpful wardens found me a quiet spot away from the play area. Mind you, kids still played wherever they liked, including the bush that was close to my tent! Can't be helped unless one goes to an Adult Only site!

The site was well run, and facilities spotless as expected from a C&CC site. However, the toilet blocks could do with a make-over to upgrade the layout and building fabrics, which are beginning to show their age. There is no enclosed cubicles with sinks for instance for a private wash.

Showers were ok, however, choose carefully, as water pressure varies from one to another.

The play area looked well-equiped, with lots of room for the little ones to run around.

There is a pub right next door to the site. The Ringwood beers on offer were excellent. I did not sample the food, so I cannot comment.

A fish and chips van visits the site on Wednesdays and Saturdays while I was there. The fish and chips I had, and the jumbo sausage for the pooch were very good indeed. The queue could be quite long, so start queuing early!

There are masses of fields for walking the dog just across the road from the site, and Borda the dog enjoyed his daily dip in the stream en-route.

Be warned about noises from the trains until about midnight, as the train station is just across the road opposite the pub.

The site is not far from Moreton Forest. However, I took the dog to the beaches instead and did not venture into the forest.

Of the three beaches we went, Sandbanks and Durley Chine were more dog-friendly than Weymouth, with more areas accessible by dogs this time of the year. Traffic to and from the beaches could be horrendous as one has to go through the town/city in order to get there.

The site is opening for Christmas and New Year for the first time in 2010.

All in all, a very pleasant site.

This site is set in a good general location. There is plenty to do nearby that we could only start to discover. Studland Bay is beautiful, Corfe Castle dominates the landscape in the Isle of Purbeck and is also a very interesting half day trip for all the family. Also, a bit more of a drive, but well worth the trip is a guided fossil hunt at Charmouth. We also wanted to visit the Tank Museum at Bovington, Hardy's Cottage, Monkey world and Brownsea Island but we ran out of time.

However when we go camping we like to feel we are getting away from it all and found the noise from the train line and road quite noticable especially at night. Although some campers felt that being close to a railway station was useful for day trips. Overall the site does have a less rural feel than other club sites.

The staff were friendly and helpful as with all club sites and the shower blocks well maintained. But again we were slightly disappointed in comparison to other club sites we have visited. There were no wash basin cubicles so washing was in public, the showers were the push button kind which again is quite limiting and to use the hairdryer you needed to keep your finger on the on button all the time!

We discovered the family room which can be used for a £5 deposit for the key which was much better but not advertised on the site so a lot of people were asking about it and going to get a key themselves.

Lastly the play area was very good having more equipment than usual club sites and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have just returned form a brilliant nine nights at this site. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, offering us our choice of the pitches available. We opted for a pitch between the bottom toilet block and the children's play area, which was great, with no problems with noise for either (the wardens closed the playarea at 9pm everynight).

Lots of children on scooters and bikes, which again wasn't a problem. But beware the speed bumps, we witnessed numerous crashes outside our tent. The site was full for most of our stay but was never noisy.

The toilets and showers were well maintained and the shower queue was never too long. There were a number of pitches, ours included, that were on a slight slope. This was not a major problem but worth noting.

The site provided a great base for local towns to visit including,Dorchester, Weymouth and Swanage all within a reasonable distance. Other local attractions included Corfe Castle, the Tank Museum, Lulwoth Cove and Durdle Door, all worth a visit. We also enjoyed the Swanage Carnival, managing to catch the Red Arrows was a highlight.

Railway station to Weymouth and Poole right outside the gates. Three local general stores close by and a 24hr Tesco about six miles away in Dorchester. The on site shop sold essentials and an excellent 'BBQ Pack' of local meat which was superb.
