Warm welcome from owner and site managers, spacious pitches and modern, clean, warm toilet block and facilities. The site is situated near to the 'Hall Walk' - one of the best walks in this part of Cornwall. All pitches have an electric hookup, and not too far from a tap.

Stayed here during the last week of their season. We hadn't booked although I had called ahead to make sure they had pitches.
We arrived in the afternoon, booked in and had a choice of pitches. We were with our friends so managed to bag a couple of secluded, hedged off pitches together, all for £20 per night all in. We both went for their fully serviced pitch which included EHU, water and waste drain. All pitches here are grass and ours was sloping so chocks were required. We were in the first field with the views over the Cornish countryside but there is also a sheltered field.
The central facilities block houses ladies and gents toilets/showers which were always very warm and clean. There is also an extensive shop on site (used by the locals as their store) and is open at various times of each day. Also in this area is an under cover washing up area, information room and bins (recycling included).
A short walk from the site is the Penmarlam boat yard which also has a small café with a very entertaining owner.
The 'local' pub is in the small village of Bodinnick (Old Ferry Inn). It's about a 15/20 minute stroll away but on the way back it's all uphill and it's pitch black at night so take a torch! Food was OK in there, although expensive. Staff could be a bit more cheerful!
From Bodinnick you can take the path onto the Hall Walk which takes you 4 miles around the estuary to Polruan. Lovely pub there (The Lugger). From Polruan you can catch the river taxi (£2 per adult single) across to Fowey, a lovely place to stroll around. We had fish & chips in the Globe Restaurant and it was delicious and not over priced. We also sat outside the Galleon Inn and had a drink overlooking the water. From Fowey take the car ferry (as foot passengers) back to Bodinnick. This costs £1. 80 per adult single. It's a cracking walk and well worth the hilly bits just for the stunning views of both Polruan and Fowey. Don't forget the very steep walk back up to the campsite from the last ferry though!
The warden (Malcolm) was superb on site, always had a smile and time for a chat.
This is a lovely little site out of season. It could do with the addition of some hardstanding pitches for those of us who prefer them but other than that it's top notch and the four of us will definitely be back.

We found this to be a really lovely campsite. Previous reviews had helped us to pick this site & we weren't let down at all. Good facilities & shop well stocked. Shower & toilet block very clean and did not have to cue, even though it was peak time. Owners & staff were very friendly towards ourselves & our two dogs. Pitch sizes were good - ours had a small edge either side for a bit of privacy. Lovely location & walks on the doorstep. There seemed to be an equal mix of tents, TT's, caravans etc. Would like to return next year.

Small pitches, tired looking facilities, no dog walk area, no kids play area. Close to water but limited water access. Boat yard/slip way does not belong to the site and costs £10 per day to use. Bodinnick is close and worth a visit and there is a nice walk via Polruan, and Fowey via the two ferries.
We have visited dozens of sites across Devon and Cornwall with little or no complaints but at £35 a night it is very over priced for what it is. This site would be better priced around £20.
This is the first site ever that we definitely will not be returning to.

Our friends have been recommending this site to us for years and we finally made it down to Cornwall to spend a weekend here. This is a lovely site and one we would definitely return to. The toilets and showers are spotless and overall the site is very well kept and clean. There is also elsan disposal and a laundry. The site shop is more like a village shop and has pretty much everything you would need, including real ales, and ciders & wine, plus fresh veg etc. At the end of the lane (down a very steep hill) there is a boat yard on the creek, with a small café which also does meals. From here you can also walk to the car ferry at Bodinnick (back up the hill a way and a permitted path across a field) to go over the estuary to Fowey. There is also a great walk from the camp site (the Halls walk) and you end up at Polruan, and you can get also a small ferry from here to Fowey. We found plenty to do from the site on foot, and it will be on our list for a weekend away again next summer.

Would recommend this site, shop well stocked, excellent customer service by the owner, shower facilities immaculate. Beautiful scenery, all attractions within an easy drive. We used the ferry almost every day. Lots of info in the info booth next to the shop. Friendly dogs on site which always enjoyed a fuss made of them.
The only fault we could possibly find was all the wet loose grass cuttings which got trawled through the caravan - nobody's fault just an inconvenience but this would not stop us from going back to this beautiful site.

Stayed here end of August into September and really enjoyed it. Very nice site with friendly staff and fellow campers. Best on site shop I've ever seen, a real bonus when you're in the countryside. Clean showers, toilets etc always plenty of hot water and I like the option of washrooms too. The grounds are kept neat and tidy and it's very peaceful. The pitches are spacious with little hedges between them, a nice touch. The walk down to Bodinnick is fairly steep but it's not far or difficult and the pub at the bottom is really nice with fab views. We used the ferry as foot passengers over to Fowey which is a lovely little town, very quaint with lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. Well worth a visit or two! We enjoyed the walk down to the slipway and marina, watching the boats and enjoying a snack at the cafe overlooking the river. Lots of happy memories of Penmarlam, would love to return one day.

Lovely site very near to Fowey and Polperro, the managers are very friendly and grounds well kept. The reception and shop well stocked with most things needed for an easy camp.
The showers and toilet facilities were clean, the showers could do with a seat for the older campers to facilitate undressing and dressing, the wobbly lightweight tables do not help.
Because of the proximity to the Boatyard and casual visitors using the toilet/showers, there has to be a combination lock for access to the Shower block this does present a problem if your eyesight is challenged and need glasses to see in the dark.
The boatyard has a lovely Bistro that can be accessed with a 10 minute walk from the campsite, but be aware that they do not accept credit or debit cards you need cash !

We followed the instructions on how to get to the site with our 9M motorhome and it was an easy drive. Staff very helpful and friendly on arrival and gave us a choice of pitches. As ground was dry no problems with the fairly level large pitches, some of which are fully serviced. The site is split into sections and some pitches have fabulous views over the valley below.
Toilet facilities all spotless and to a good standard. Plenty of hot water on the push button single temperature shower.
As mentioned the site is at the top of the hill so the road back from the ferry is pretty steep and not one I would want to try and ride a bicycle up.
The trips into Fowey and further afield, meant going across on the ferry which, when we used it, was £1. 75 per adult but only £3 to take our scooter over. The costs could add up it you are taking a car over regularly.
Great site, well run, good facilities and location.
Would definitely go back

Excellent site. Very clean and accommodating. I was especially grateful to the site warden couple that shared their curry with me after my wet arrival during a Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride.
Isle of Man TT enthusiasts will appreciate the toilets!
