We stayed at this campsite about 10 years ago and the kids loved it.
We always promised ourselves we would return.
We stayed five nights last week and enjoyed every day. Loved the walks to the beach, spent some great days on the beach, when the sun came out. The beach is safe for children. We used our inflatable kayak on the sea, like a lot of others and had lots of fun. The campsite was quiet at night time.
Just remember your loo roll for the campsite and plenty of 20 pences.
The people who run this site are very friendly and helpful, I would recommend this campsite for families.

Just had a great few days at Oxwich Camping park. Was really pleased I read the other reviews beforehand and chose this one over others. The owners were really friendly and helpful and always seemed to have their door open. They seemed really flexible with the booking so imagine they are never fully booked as it was a lovely hot week in school holidays and it wasn't overcrowded.
The camping fields were gently sloping but were far more interesting than some of the more open field ones with lots of trees for shelter.
Toilet facilities were good, not flash, but clean enough and all worked fine. They had 2 separate sections for both men and women which meant when cleaning one, the other was always open.
Make sure you take plenty of 20 pences for the showers, which were always hot. They run for 7 minutes and the timer starts as soon the money drops so if the shower doesn't come on straight away its because someone has turned the tap off on their last shower so don't stand waiting, turn it back on straight away. And get ready for your shower before putting the money in.
Also remember to take loo roll as none is supplied, which is good because it means the toilets are kept cleaner with less wastage.
The beach is a level 10 minute walk down the road and was lovely calm waters. A much less windy beach than others. If you have a double buggy you will need to access the beach via the car park as you cant get through the wall entrance by Oxwich Bay Hotel.
The local shops are a 5 minute walk from the campsite and have a deli, ice-cream bar, and sell all sorts of good for your BBQs, games and necessities.
There is no playground, but they do have the small pool which was reasonably busy and is vaguely heated I believe!

Lovely views of Oxwich bay from the upper field. Sloping site but with some flat areas.
Out of school hols so not at all busy. Very quiet to begin with. One 'rogue' family arrived during latter part of the week. Very noisy until the early hours.
Toilets and showers immaculate though will need to provide own toilet roll.
10 min walk to beach which has a pub nearby. Food reasonably priced. Local shop in village a tad pricey.
Bus service from the camp site gate.
The gower is really beautiful. We had good weather. I suspect it wouldn't be as interesting for the children if the weather was bad. Having said that, will be returning next summer with the grandkids

Oxwich Camping Park is located in the stunning Gower Penninsula in South Wales, the beach is about a 15 minute walk away at tops and it one of the most beautiful coastlines in the United Kingdom in my opinion. We went on a beautiful walk to a neighbouring beach resort Port Eynon, although this was quite a distance and up hill in places.
The Camping Park is reasonably easy to find, and located in Oxwich itself, with a small corner shop nearby. There is also a hotel down the road which does wonderful food, with adequate portion sizes and you can expect to pay around £10 a main course for the more basic dishes - well worth visiting on your holiday.
Oxwich Camping Park seems to be an excellent campsite for families. It is well geared up towards them, even boasting a small swimming pool. Most people on this campsite are families. The facilities in the campsite are very well kept, although toilet paper is not provided. The showers are reasonably clean and metered so you pay 20p and you get about 6 minutes ish (I think!). The hot water on site is also run on meters. There is also a laundry area and which also has plug sockets so that you can blowdry your hair for example, or charge your phone (if you speak to reception they will also do this for you which is excellent should you need to be connected with the outside world!)
This campsite lacks the charm of other campsites that I have visited, but if you want a no-nonsense, clean campsite with beaches not too far away then do pick this campsite.

Positives:
We love this campsite, it is deffinately geared up for families with children. The owners are very friendly and you are able to choose where you want to pitch your tent. We also feel the price here is very reasonable for our large family.
The toilet/shower blocks are highly maintained and regularly cleaned, but you must bring your own toilet paper.
Showers were 20p for 7 mins but you could stack it and pay 60p for uninterrupted 21 minutes of hot shower time. Nice showers, but bring something waterproof for your clothing/towel to go in while you shower so they don't get wet.
Mens were one side, Female the other and a laundry room in the middle which had sinks to hand wash your clothes and 2 tumbler driers which took 20p's.
The pool is really good for the kids, even us adults managed it although the pool is only just heated and does feel cold at first. The pool meant we did not need to leave the campsite if we did not want to as it kept the kids entertained all day.
You were able to play makeshift badminton if there was space available, although as it was a popular place, large open spaces were filled quickly.
There is a beach which is 20 mins away, I suggest you walk there as to take your car would cost you £4. 00 to park.
As others have mentioned there is a local shop which sells locally produced ice cream, very moreish. There also a cafe and very close by is a hotel /pub/ restaurant.
Lots of things in the area to do for tourists such as visiting oxwich castle, swansea is not far away and there are also some good rambles/walks. There are other beaches in the area which are worth a visit if you know how to get to them.
I highly recommend pobbles beach, but quite a long walk to get to it and not buggy friendly.
They rent out ice packs at 40p a pack and you can change them daily.
Negatives:
No hook ups available, but then our family did not want or need a hook up so no problem for us.
Only one really and that is to choose your pitch wisely as some of the site is slopping.
Footnote:
This site really is good for children, they all seem to make friends here, and you can within reason let them play knowing that they will be safe. I also know that this site supports a group families going and pitching together which might make it even more enjoyable for some.
They did not charge us extra for our gazebo it was a straight forward fee of £18. 00 a night for our family of 6 regardless of size of tent. They tend to charge for the family rather than how many tents you have as some families came in very small tents with their kids in pup tents and they were also only charged £18. 00 for the family of 6.

Our second visit to this campsite. Oxwich is small but perfectly formed, and the campsite is in easy walking distance to the beach. Its a relaxed site with no fixed pitches but the friendly warden/owner shows you to your 'area'.
It has plenty of very clean showers and toilets that I have never had to queue for. Bring 20p for the showers and washing up water, as well as toilet paper.
On both occasions it has been quiet at night, which for a busy site is great.
There is a swimming pool but I have never used it.
I had a small cooked breakfast at the nearby family run cafe which was lovely. Will definitely return to this site.

Just returned from a 3 night break over the Bank Holiday weekend, and had a very positive experience.
Yes, there are some limitations compared to other sites I have stayed at (20p for dishwashing water which was a bit hit and miss/ own toilet paper required), but the positives far out weighed these.
From our arrival, owners very welcoming and helped out when the wind was making erecting our tent challenging. They have rules regarding the use of the pool (which the kids loved), but did not enforce them with a too much authority (our kids were still in there after 5, but they waited until they'd finished rather than turfing them out).
Site was quiet after 9:30, despite being quite full. No strict time to be out on our day of departure which made packing away the tent far less stressful.
Will definitely consider next time we are down the Gower.

My favourite kind of site- no caravans allowed. This is due to the narrow access road I think. This site has amazing views over Oxwich bay, and has some of the best facilities I've seen on a campsite in over 20 years of camping. Toilet and shower block is huge and cleaned regularly, during busy periods a second side to the each of the male and female facilities is opened up. Outdoor pool great. This site does get busy as its so popular and for its size can seem quite crowded but we'll certainly be back again soon. Little around in the way of shops, avoid the cafe/ shop near the beach at all costs you won't get what they advertise on their breakfasts. Hotel near beach seems nice but when we went in the two tables for drinkers were taken!

After leaving our coastal campsite, and arriving at this site, my wife was unsure, as it was dusk and the site was pretty full due to Trips week. The flattest area we could find was slightly under a large oak tree, but our friends and our tent went up with ease and we squeezed in between the other campers. Kids running riot in the dark playing hide an seek, tripping over guylines, no one hurt but did give us some entertainment.
The owners were very warm and friendly, and shows everyone the pitches on offer. Any untoward noises and the owners would be around fast and sort it out.
The trip to the beach is only a short one in the car or about a twenty minute walk. The area was very picturesque, as was the campsite.
The shower and toilet facilities were good, I believe that they are normally cleaner, but due to the extreme busy week/end they were struggling to keep up, but the price was 20P for 7 minutes, which does suit the women better when they have there hair to wash. There was a problem with one of the tumble dryers, however, they refunded me so I could get the rest of the clothes dry.
Loved this site and would like to visit again maybe when it is quieter.

We arrived at 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon in peak holiday season. I was given a tour of potential pitches (of which there were a fair number) in a golf buggy and could choose where I wanted to go. Most of the site has a gentle slope but it didn't cause us a problem.
The 20p for the hot showers was fine. Don't forget to bring toilet paper as none is provided. The 20p for the washing up water is more than sufficient.
There is a cafe at the bottom of the hill, near the beach, and a hotel that serves good meals. The owners of the campsite directed us to a great fish and chips takeaway. The kids told us that it was the best they'd ever tasted.
There were lots of kids running around until about 10pm but then it quietened down. We were only there for 2 nights but I spoke to someone that had stayed a whole week. She said that their kids had made some great friends and would be coming back. We will too.
