Just enjoyed a lovely sunny weekend at Oxwich Camping Park.
As the kids had an inset day on the Friday we could get there early so as I only live 30 minutes away we left about dinner time with the option of having food in a nearby pub.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice lady who sorted us out with the perfect pitch and explained all we needed to know.
There are top pitches which are primarily for the view but also classed as the noisey part, and the lower half which caters for families who want a lie in.
They charge £14 a night and I was told that its easier to pay per night as they dont refund if you decide to leave early.
My wife seemed a bit annoyed that you have to supply your own toilet roll and pay for showers, and hot dishwater, at 20p a go but as I said thats why its only £14 a night, but everything was cleaned on a daily if not hourly rate.
There is a smallish sized outdoor pool which is stated as heated but according to my kids this was not the case.
Other than that there isnt much else to do there, no park for the kids and no club house.
But Oxwich bay is only 10 minutes walk, although that is down a very narrow country lane and we did encounter a few hasty drivers.
Once in the little village there is a shop/off licsence/cafe, all the same shop. A bit annoyed with them as they charge 90p to use chip and pin with a minimum of £5 spend, even when purchasing meals in the cafe.
Car parking at the beach is £3 with more than ample spaces if you need to take the car.
There are 2 shops on the beach selling everything from buckets/spades to hot dogs and chips.
On the right hand side of the beach is the only pub in the area, its the Oxwich bay hotel.
Nice bar, nice food and nice big garden for kids to run around in.
This was our first camping trip as a family and at first we were a bit put off by the cold and noisy neighbours but I think that was just our inexperience as our second night was fantastic and the kids didnt want to come home.

An interesting experience getting a large trailer up the steep hill this site was on - and apologies to all those whose cars were spattered with mud as we stuggled to get there!
Once there, this has to be one of the best sites on the earth (although having sunshine all week may have helped)the view from the top of the hill is fantastic, each sunrise a wonder and the full moon on the water at night. Well, you get the picture.
Anyway, I promised Malcolm I would write to say that their idea of making campers provide their own toilet roll is a stroke of genius. It certainly helps keeps the toilets clean, as people are (unsurpisingly) reluctant to waste their own paper in the way provided paper gets draped and dirtied on the floor. It means that everyone pays for the quality of paper they want and no-one ever has to worry about getting to the toilet and having to look for one that still has some paper left. I never did aquire the bravado to walk across the site with one, advertising, 'Look where I'm going!' But putting it in a bag gives you something to hang it up with when you get there!
We had probably the best weeks camping ever, but I never did find out what we would have done if it had rained all week; there didn't seem to be much else going on.
Thanks to Malcolm and the Team, and to the fellow campers who made it such a fantastic week!

We stayed here for 2 nights over the August bank holiday weekend. Despite the fact the site was full, the facilities were kept immaculate and we never had to wait for a shower or loo. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The site was clean and other campers well behaved. You had to provide your own loo paper, but that is not entirely unexpected. Showers and washing up water cost 20p, but that gave you 10 mins of piping hot water so well worth it. Great location. It was our first visit and wont be our last. We can highly recommend it.

Stayed here thru August Bank hol. Campsite is good, clean showers & toilets - washing up facilities were OK. Bit of a slope on some pitches (ours) which was a minor problem. Swimming pool was fab, but longer opening hours would be good. Beach is too far to walk if you have kids & the clobber that comes with them - take the car & use the car park for £3.
Lovely, well run place.
BIG thank you to Malcom (site management) who dealt with a domestic situation in the middle of the night which woke the whole camp up! Handled the situation very professionally & the family were asked to leave the next morning.
Really quiet site - a big yes for families with young kids.

Have just spent three great days at this site and will definitely go again. It's friendly and clean and having the pool for the children was a nice bonus. It's a quiet family site with no loud noise after 11pm so if you want to party I wouldn't recommend it. However, this was explained quite clearly when I rang to book and suited us on this occasion. We were lucky to arrive on a Thursday so we were able to get a flat pitch near the hedge, otherwise it may have been a bit tricky as much of the site is on a slope. The facilities were very clean and stayed that way even though it was August Bank Holiday and very busy by the Saturday. It costs 20p for 10 minutes in the shower, which was just long enough to shower 2 small children and 1 adult. We were happy to pay 20p and have guaranteed hot water. The couple running the site are very friendly and helpful and we think they do a great job! The beach (ten minutes walk away) was also great - big enough to accomodate the bank holiday crowd without feeling crowded and a shallow shore line which was fantastic for the children to play in safely. The water was also suprisingly clear.

Stayed for a couple of days in August. Campsite large and plenty of room around the pitch although the site is largely on a hill. Not too bad but noticeable. It was advertised as having electric hook up but there definitely wasn't any. Had a good number of showers and they were warm and clean although 20p per 10 mins. Wash up was also 20 p a go which I thought was a bit miserable. Nice and quiet in the evening but some people let their kids run loose at 6 am which spoilt it a little. However the proximity to the beach was un parallelled and this alone will make me visit again. Overall a nice friendly clean site

We spent 3 nights at Oxwich camping park and chose it because of the reviews on this site as it was our first real camping holiday and we were not sure what to expect.Thankfully we were pleased with our choice! As for the site it was pretty much as people have said in the reviews, the owners were friendly, the facilities were clean and well maintained and you have a choice of 2 fields for your tent. Generally most pitches were on a bit of a slant but we were lucky enough to find a spot round the edge which was flat. The showers were 20p for 10 minutes which seemed enough time as long as you did not mess about and the swimming pool was a great success with the kids although no lifegaurd on duty you have to supervise your kids yourself.(fair enough!). Our only concern with the site was even though there was lots of signs saying you have to be quiet at night there was a few ignorant people that either couldnt read or didnt care as our last nights sleep was a bit interupted. As for the beech it certainly is better to drive down and park for the day for £3 as the walk to the beech is a bit scary down a little road with only just enough room for a car so a bit dangerous especially with a 4 year old boy! The beach was ok, certainly not the best on the gower but we went to mumbles the time we were there only because we like it. There is a shop near the beech where you can get all you need and chips, rolls etc.We never tried the local pub so can't comment on that. Dont forget to bring £10 for a deposit for your pitch number! We will certainly be going back to Oxwich even though a bit in the middle of nowhere you do have to drive to go anywhere of interest (rhossili, Mumbles etc).

We visited over quite a wet and windy May Whitsun Bank holiday. A lovely site for tents, high up on the top fields with superb views of Oxwich Castle and across Oxwich Bay to Three Cliffs Bay in the distance. Having not expected a sea view, as the site write-up hadn't explicitly said that there was a sea view, we were delighted with such a stunning vista, at its best from the tent field. There's a lovely children's playground. We didn't use the pool as it wasn't warm enough! The part of the site where the caravans are didn't seem so pleasant, quite crammed in and regimented, but up at the top with the tents it was very pleasant, if a bit windy as it is an exposed site! We found the site very quiet. The washing up facilities were great, in their own special room with lots of space. There were plenty of toilets and basins in the toilet block and sufficient showers given that the site was only half full. The owner was very friendly and we had appreciated being able to reserve a pitch in advance - always good at a busy Bank holiday weekend! It's only a short walk down into the village and an even shorter stroll to Oxwich Castle. The Oxwich Bay Hotel was good for a drink and a meal and has lovely views over the beach and the bay.

We visited Oxwich as a group of 5 families with 15 children between us. We all managed to find fairly level pitches but many later arrivals were on slopes. We pitched at the top of the hill with beautiful views over the bay. The toilets and showers were OK although a bit of a bind if you forgot your toilet roll or soap!Showers 20p and plenty of hot water. We spent the 3 days on the beach as the weather was superb. The walk to the beach along the narrow lane is only about 10 minutes but have to keep a close eye on the kids! There was plenty of room for the kids to run around and the site was quiet at night. We didn't use the pool as we were on the beach until after it closed - possibly a bit early - but it looked fine.We eill definitely visit again.

Arrived on Friday eve when it was raining - but soon were up & running. The owners/managers were really helpful & we enjoyed a busy but tasty meal in a local pub, the King Arthur. In the morning we saw the wonderful view to the sea & a visit to the child friendly beach was an interesting outing for the children. It was only 10 mins from the site down a winding road. Another good recommendation for the next evening - the Gower Inn - was brilliant & cheap for the three adults & six children in our party. We will certainly visit again.
