I was fortunate enough to be able to get a reservation for the second May BH weekend after phoning the booking office at the beginning of the month, having thought l'd left it too late, but Malcolm (the site manager) calmly assured me there was plenty of space. My wife & l arrived late Friday afternoon & were warmly met by Malcolm who advised us on the site facilities, local attractions, etc, & we were soon pitching our tent on the upper field.
The campsite is lovely & grassy with soft ground (where we were) so we didn't bend any tent pegs fortunately! The ablution blocks were always nice & clean & 20p bought you 7 minutes of hot water that was plenty for showering & washing your hair. Hot water, too, for doing the dishes was 20p again for 10 minutes or so but other campers who had already finished their washing up were more than happy to let you have the remainder of their water.
Carol, Malcolm's wife, did a daily site patrol & was always willing to say hello & stop for a warm chat when passing. A 5-10 minute walk down the road bought you to a pleasant little shop with emergency supplies (bread, milk, camping gas, etc) & the lovely delicacy Welsh cakes & all manner of other supplies, nick-nacks, etc.
The tide was out when we arrived at the local beach just across the road from the shop & it too seemed nice enough. The pool at the campsite was obviously warmer than the sea as when we arrived back at the site after a day out visiting local attractions (3 Cliffs Bay is delightful!) it was well populated but clean & tidy all the same. With not having children l am uncertain if there are any other facilities (swings, jungle gym, sandpit, etc) for youngsters apart from the pool but there was always space for kicking a ball about, playing a spot of cricket, badminton, etc.
Upon leaving on the Monday our £10 deposit for the site ticket / pass was returned with assurances given to Carol & Malcolm that we would be returning later in the year as we had thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks guys for lovely, warm hospitality in a very beautiful part of the country! Well recommended!

Lovely site, well positioned for the beach and very quiet resort of Oxwich, a 10 minute stroll along a narrow lane was the only minor disadvantage.

I wouldn't have wanted to run up there in a motorhome or caravan (not allowed anyway) as this is a local bus route despite is diminutive dimensions (the lane that is). Although, plenty of motorhomes did get on site.

Owners friendly and welcoming and always willing to raise a smile.

Spotlessly clean despite it being a very busy weekend.

Swimming pool was a winner for the kids.

No dogs which was great !

A shop on site selling a few basic essentials would have been a nice touch

Will definitely go back :0)

After 26 years of visiting this site we're still not bored with it. Malcolm and Carol were, as always, welcoming and helpful. The setting is beautiful - there is a stunning sea view from the upper field and there are mature trees around the site.

Most pitches are gently sloping, but not enough to be a problem. There were some slightly soggy areas but we were advised to choose our pitch carefully. We arrived on the Thursday before the bank holiday when the site was almost empty; by Saturday the place was packed, but not unbearably so. There is no playground - my adult offspring still remember the old roundabout with affection - but the children seemed to be perfectly happy playing around the site, and of course there is the swimming pool.

The toilets and showers were always spotlessly clean and at the busiest time both sections were open. 20p gives enough hot water for a good shower, and after the first day we never to pay for the washing up water.

Oxwich Bay is an easy walk, although children need to be kept hold of in the narrow lane, and has everything required of a good family beach, as well as being vast and beautiful. There are several spectacular beaches within an easy drive, Oxwich Castle and Weobly Castle are both well worth the small entrance fee, and the Gower is a walker's paradise.

There is a small shop in Oxwich that sells groceries, ice cream, chips etc. And there are large branches of Tesco and Sainsbury's 11 miles away in Swansea.

We searched UKcampsite website very thoroughly before deciding on this site. We liked that no dogs allowed considering our daughter is weary of them, and also unhappy other sites had dogs walking off lead.

The first time camping for the family- I haven't camped for 25 yrs. Stayed Mon- Fri prior to the B/H weekend. Two & half days of rain and two & half of warm sun.

Cars kept on site road- sensible to stop the field being churned, and safer for kids to runaround.

Toilets very clean- no queueing (had previous worry about this). Own toilet roll system not a problem; we had seperate girls and boys gym style bag to carry the roll, soap, hand towel etc so no advertising our destination.

Showers- very clean and HOT water, 20p for 10 mins ample and lovely to warm- kids appreciated this after their morning swim.

Dishwashing- 20p for 10 mins- again no queueing sometimes able to use the previous users water.

Swimming pool- small but sufficient for the kids. They progressed from 10 mins (raining and cold) to 40 mins last day.(Tip- get them into the hot shower straight from the pool- never been cleaner)

Management- helpful and welcoming. Hired freezer packs for 30p each day. Also 20p use of tumble dryer- helpful for wet towels/ clothes. We had a wasp problem which they kindly gave some decoy suggestions. Turned out the wasp were Wales wide so we hadn't pitched under a nest!

Beach- 10 mins walk away. Easier to take the car(if loads of equipment)-starts in the early morning at £3.50 reducing during the day. Beach lovely- numerous rockpools, vast level sands, sand dunes to explore, good food hut- had piping hot fish & chips in the beach tent.

Oxwich Bay Hotel expensive to eat in the evening- food not up to much and service appalling- staff remained silent and unsmiling while removing plates which hadn't been finished!

Shop/cafe opposite beach car park handy but expensive. Couldn't see cash register display to see what/ which prices being run up.

Overall: Fri when we left was filling up. Would recommend this site- peaceful and low key. I suggested we view others while in the area- husband didn't want to- happy to return here next year.

The reception was very friendly and helpful, pains were taken to find us a flat pitch near the road. The grass was sodden so cars were not allowed on it. There was good knowledge of the ground to know where the well drained parts were.

No electric hook up- we would have stayed longer had there been.

Unfortunately the weather was such that the swimming pool was only used by brave children on the dry day.

There are views down to the sea. You can easily walk to the unspoilt beach or up to the castle.

Just got to say try the site.

Just got back from a very muddy bank holiday.

The pool is great my children would have stayed in there all day.

Toilets and showers were forever being cleaned ,with all the mud they were allways clean.Good idea taking your own toilet roll,no bits all over the floor.Very helpful and friendly staff, fantastic views over the bay.

No play area but lots of space to play and explore. We had one day on the beach, well worth 3.50 parking ,coffees ,chips, hot dogs, rolls and other food and drinks to keep you all happy.Highly recommended site (even with the mud) but stock up on essencials from tesco in swansea marina as you pass as no good shop in walking distance.

All in all very nice and cheap site (£16 a night for a family of 5)will return .

Spent two nights at Oxwich bay campsite in mid August. The weather had been awful on the run up to the trip with loads of rain (not unusual for summer.) Because of the continual rain the campsite was a bit boggy and muddy in places. The management made everyone park away from the pitches to stop the grass looking like Glastonbury. Was a bit of a pain but was unavoidable if the site was to remain open.

The site had a pool which was great for the kids. Also had a smaller pool for toddlers. Toilets were clean, well laid out and spacious. Showers were 20p per 10 mins and were consistant in temperature. Hot water was also 20p but I just used cold anyway.

The site was set down a narrow lane which I would'nt have liked to walk down with kids.Shop was a small drive away but was expensive (6 quid for a 270 campingaz cartridge! no thanks!) There was a chip shop next to shop but did not sample this.

The site was set in a pretty area. Slight sea view. Lovely old oak tree's in the middle of the site so the kids had fun climbing these.

There were loads of notices to keep noise down after dark but our last nite was on a bank hol Friday so had loads of people turning up in the dark trudging past our tent, blowing up airbeds, setting up tents, being loud and all while trying to get the kids to sleep. Was'nt impressed. I suppose this was'nt the owners fault just people in general.

All in all a good site for the kids but I personally wouldn't go on a holiday weekend. I will be going here again though, maybe even next week.

The staff were very friendly . The site was very clean and well maintained. There is a heated outdoor pool which my son adored but there are no lifeguards you are solely responsible for your children. The surrounding village of Oxwich is beautiful and the Oxwich bay hotel is a great location for meals and drinks . Child and dog friendly. This site is great as long as you are willing to experience the real idea of camping as theres no electric hookups, but dont let that put you off. Would visit again.

Weve not long come back from this site and even though it was summer holidays our group of 3 tents managed to get 3 pitches right by the side of each other. The toilet blocks were clean every time we used them and with kids that was different times each day,the showers were lovely well worth the 20p as you got 10 minutes. The site was always clean no rubbish lying about and the owners were fantastic as we had some heavy rain which made some parts of the field VERY boggy but they always checked we were ok a lovely atmosphere to the place. The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes down a narrow road. The park was £16 a night which is brilliant value for people with kids during holidays and even has its own outdoor swimming pool.In all I'd recommend this park to anyone but try to avoid being at bottoms of hills just incase of rain to avoid the bogginess, but even that doesn't put us off going again next year

This was the first time camping for some of our party, the management were helpful and very patient when one of our cars got stuck in a muddy area and supplied a tractor to pull said car out!

The toilet block was sparkling and the children quickly got used to having to take loo roll on the trek to the loo block.

Our pitch was one of the more level, however even that wasn't that level, my youngest found herself wedged between bed and edge of the tent most mornings!

The site itself is lovely, plenty of room left between pitches, however not sure if this will be the case during the six week holidays.

We would definitely consider returning to this site, very good value for money at £14 a night but was not quite sure why we have to hand over a £10 deposit for a cardboard circle to hang from the mirror in the car?!
