This is a no-frills site with showers, toilets (bring your own toilet paper as usual) and washing-up facilities. You'll need 20p coins for the showers (10 mins) and the washing-up water, although in practice you often get away with the latter since one coin gives several sinkfuls of hot water from the geysers.

The site is large and tent-only. Access is via a narrow lane but people drive and walk sensibly down it. It is quiet at night although most groups are families with young children so there is usually a lot of noise, ball games etc in the day. Unusually, there is a well-maintained outdoor swimming pool. The staff are on site 24hrs and helpful. There is a £10 deposit on arrival.

The local beach is good but if the tide is out you have a 3/4 mile walk to the sea! The ruined castle (actually a Tudor house) is worth a walk up the hill.

My only criticism is that the nearest shop is a 30min round trip on foot (you wouldn't want to take the car down that narrow lane more than you had to) and has a very limited selection of food alongside the usual seaside gonks. It has a cafe but this is expensive (the fish and chips are just bog-standard frozen food put into the fryer, for nearly £5!) and only open until 5pm. You'll need to take a lot of food with you or drive to a larger town for supplies.

Stayed here over the weekend and I have to say this site is set in a lovely location. In the main the campsite is excellent except for a couple of issues I feel that prospective campers should be aware of. Firstly, the site provides no loo paper in any of the toilets. For £9.00 per person per night I personally I think this is a poor show. Secondly and more importantly this site locks its gates from 11pm to 7am. This is potentially very worrisome particularly as the site is not manned overnight and there is no emergency contact number. If there were to be a medical emergency during silent hours you can't get your car off the site nor can emergency vehicles gain access.

This was our first camping trip as a family and I believe the benchmark has been set!

We had a great break here. Even before we arrived the lady on the other end of the phone was very helpful. On our arrival the welcome was equally as friendly.

As mentioned this was our first experience of erecting the tent with three kids in tow was an experience to say the least, however there was plenty of open area to occupy them with a ball etc.

The first morning when the rain had stopped we dared the outdoor pool which was a very enjoyable time for all, there is an adjoining paddling pool for toddlers which ours greatly appreciated.

The camp was noticeably clean with the toilet block and showers immaculate on every visit, the owners should be commended.

The 15 minute walk to the attractive beach was a little adventure for us and took some more energy out of the kids. There is a shop near the beach but I think the camp could profit from a small basic on site shop.

All said, in the age of xbox and cbeebies a good, clean, family friendly campsite offered more than enough for our kids to enjoy themselves, we'll be back.

Spent 2 nights here at end of July ( fri and sat)

Was very busy, and full on the sat evening, not too noisy though

Not sure we will return ( def not in summer hols) as it was quite cramped when a group of about 6 large tents camped very near to us,so we were surrounded by their tents / their cars / their kids!

Think I prefer a smaller site, with marked out pitches! it had an almost festival feel to it!

Showers and loos clean, and 20p was enough for a lovely hot shower, hair and body washing. Good that you don't have to pay a deposit upon booking

The pool was well used by the children in our party,us adults weren't brave enough!

Nice location (we booked as it was close to the Oxwich Bay Hotel, where we had got married 6 years ago !) Some other lovely beaches nearby too

We have just returned from a 5 day break at this campsite. When I rang to book the staff were very friendly and that was the case in all my dealings with them. The roads immediately approaching it are very narrow so you need to be aware of other cars and pedestrians.

The campsite has a swimming pool that is open between 10-5, which was a bit chilly, but good fun.

The site is on a slope with very few 'flat' pitches. We managed to find a fairly flat pitch just above the toilets blocks. We were guided to the best pitches on a golf buggy and then took our car to the one we had chosen. We did need to have to arrage the tent in the best position for comfortable sleeping and need to prop one end of the cooker up, but it didn't really cause that much of an issue.

The toilet blocks were clean and there was never any queuing for the facilities. The showers cost 20p for 7 mins, which is more than enough time to wash & condition hair etc. The strange thing was that washing up and laundry water was also 20p, with a 10 minute wait for it to warm up. Hot water in the toilets is free. Electricity is also free, so charging of phones, drying hair etc isn't a problem and there are 6 sockets. There are 2 tumble driers that cost, you got it, 20p. But, considering that camping for 2 adults and 2 children was only £18 per night, with no hidden extras (we took a huge tent and 2 cars), it is good value for money!

The site was completely quiet by 11.00. Though my children had no problem sleeping with the low level noise prior to then.

It provided a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside around the Gower and Oxwich beach has something for everyone. And, is only a 10 minute walk away. A word of caution about the local shop which is opposite the beach, being the only shop around, it is quite pricy. They sell fish and chips etc, but again at over the top prices.

If you have children and are looking for a really good day out and don't mind a bit of a drive (60 miles), then try Folly Farm, near Tenby. I took my 5 & 14 year old and they both loved it. Actually, we all loved it!

Had a fab time here, good old fashioned campsite with very friendly owners / wardens. Good facilities, I don't mind paying for hot water, its better than not paying and getting lukewarm or cold water!

15 min walk to beautiful beach and corner shop. We stayed on a very busy weekend but didn't feel cramped at all and met some very nice people who come back all the time as we will too.

It was lovely on the Sunday to be told there was 'no rush' when packing up. No supermarket near so best to bring supplies with you and you can borrow ice packs from the reception at 35p each.

We all loved this site and although the pool claimed to be heated, the kids said it was freezing, but still loved it. Loads of space for running around and not so busy that you felt your privacy was invaded.

A nice quiet site which is what we like. Excellent clean facilities of laundry, washing up area and toilets / showers. The owners are very helpful and welcoming.

We have never seen somewhere with so many 'No' signs - No wood fires, No T Shirts in the pool, No day visitors etc, but actually none of this was a problem for us and I believe rules need to be in place for some!

We liked it so much we are planning to return for a longer stay in the next few weeks. Lovely beach just 15 mins walk away and the King Arthur Hotel, 4 miles away does some lovely grub and very generous sizes!

Two single dads with children booked four nights at this site and although we changed the dates at the last minute there was no problem in accommodating us. The people who run this site are very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure that the site ran smoothly the whole time we were there even directing the cars to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

We arrived in the wind and rain and the easy choice of pitch next to the road and near the pool and toilets was most welcome as was the help of the other campers in pitching the tents and Gazebo! Thankfully the ground was soft so the pegs went in easily. Had we wanted to pitch a bit further away we were offered help by having our tents and luggage transported in a trailer towed by a tractor as the grass was too wet to take cars. Several families took up the offer and seemed to have fun riding in the trailer!

This is a lovely site with sea views and easy walking distance to a magnificent sandy bay with dunes. The site has its’ own swimming pool that the children enjoyed. No dogs are allowed on site which suited me as I don’t own one. The walk to the beach was down a narrow lane with some interesting little cottages, including one that was lived in by John Wesley, but had it been any wider the cars would have just been travelling faster and there would be more of them which would spoil the charm of the place. Lots of other great beaches can be reached a short drive from the site. There is a ruined castle nearby that you can see from the site and that was worth a walk up to even though the route was very steep. From the castle there are other extensive walks along the point and back down to the old church and the beach. A good place to see wildlife, particularly birds, and on a clear evening we were able to star watch. The Gower Heritage Centre nearby offered a good afternoons worth of entertainment but is directed more to the pre-teen age child. Swansea has a Millets and Blacks as well as Argos for any camping accessories that you need during your stay as well as a large shopping centre. There is also a big Tesco opposite the Marina which is handy as the local shop to the site was horrendously expensive and I would strongly recommend that you only use it for dire emergencies. Also near the Marina is a swimming baths with water slides and a museum that is free to get in and which we used one wet afternoon. Malcolm, the site manager directed us to a local pub called the ‘Countryman’ one evening when it was raining and this pub offered children’s entertainment and also food if we had wanted it. The Gower Inn is also a short drive from the site and serves food but is more of a Carvery type pub.

The toilets and showers on the site were always clean and 20p for the hot water in the showers easily lasted long enough. As we enjoyed ourselves so much we actually extended our stay by two more nights which was not a problem to book on a daily basis. However, because it was so wet it would have been useful to have a washing machine on site as I started to run out of clothes for the children. There is a tumble drier which was useful to dry the hand washed clothes. No paper is left in the toilets and no soap by the basins but I got round that by giving my children their own bag with paper and a bottle of hand wash which I think they quite enjoyed the responsibility of. The site office has ice packs to rent for your cool box to help keep food fresh. The site has a policy of quiet at night which I didn’t see being enforced because the other campers respected it. There are no set pitches, which means you can camp anywhere, but people seemed to respect our space and didn’t camp right on top of us. Apart from the swimming pool there were no other play facilities which meant that our children had to use their imaginations to make up games to play in the large grass area between the tents. They even got us adults to join in a skipping contest which was great fun. Much better than any electronic console!

All in all a great place to camp if you like nature and the simple things in life and are prepared to make your own fun whatever the weather! A thumbs up from my son and my daughter says it is a good place to camp. We would be quite happy to go back again.

Just got back from 2 nights here. Very well organised and well looked after site. Although we arrived after rain (so the cars couldn't be parked on the fields), the campsite provided a tractor with trailer to carry everyones gear backwards and forwards whilst setting up and thus ensuring the fields didn't get ridiculously churned up. Showers at 20p a go were consistently hot, clean and queue free. Same with the washing up facilities. Clean toilets. Nice little outdoor swimming pool for the kids. Relaxed atmosphere. Negatives would be the place doesn't take cards so you have to go out for cashpoints. No electric hookups available. The local beach is about 10 minutes walk away (25 with toddlers lol) Staff/owners? actively encourage people to quieten down after 11 - there is a no noise policy after this, but this is done in a really polite, common sense kind of way, which means happy campers all round. I enjoyed my short stay here.

Excellent site. Near to beach, lovely part of Wales, friendly hosts made us feel welcome from arrival. The only down side was that a week was not enough, a month would have been better for this part of Wales.

Kids liked the pool on site and the toilets and clothes washing and drying facilities were great.

There was no on site shop but the local shop in Oxwich is 5 minutes away.

There is a good array of local beaches, if you don't want to go far Oxwich is a 5 minute walk, if you want more secluded 3 cliffs is stunning.

The week we were there it rained non stop but even that did not dampen our spirits and we have just booked to return this summer.
