We hadn't been to this camp site for over 20 years, What a great site. I had booked and paid on line, I had estimated our arrival time, everything went smoothly checking us on site, all the staff were extremely pleasant without being over bearing, advice was offered not forced on us.
The site has a lot of gravel hard standings, not bowling green level but close enough that levelling blocks aren't needed.
The 'nearly new' shower block was a delight to use, it was kept clean and spotless. The veg prep area was also good, shame that some of 'us' campers couldn't clean up after ourselves, two of the sinks were littered with waste veg, a needless extra task for the site wardens to do.
The site in general was kept very clean, as pitches became free the grass was mown and the area spruced up. The team here were a credit to the caravan club, 'well done'
I do have two points to ask
1. I was under the impression that shower waste couldn't run through other shower rooms, perhaps as there is a cover grill on the top this is okay, my fault I should of asked, as the toilet block is newish everything would be to the latest spec.
2. It did seem that the stock in the shop was a bit sparse, especially as the nearest decent shopping was a 5/10 minute drive away.
I nearly forgot, there is a lovely playground for the younger members, totally dog free.

We booked 7 night stay here and added on another 4 nights it’s that good hard to find fault.
Would like the bus company to extend the bus service to the end of September from the stop just outside the site (unfortunately this ended end of August) making it too far for us to walk to the main road A3056.
Thanks so much for the following directions:
Anybody travelling with the help of a sat-nav, please be aware if travelling from Newport way towards the caravan site, do not turn down the road called Watery Lane as this is a very small and tight road to be towing a caravan, if you travel along the A3056 a short distance more, you will see a sign post for Southlands Caravan Park and a road on the left called Winiford Road.

We stayed here the first week of the 6-weeks holiday and I wished I had booked longer than 7 days.
The park is fantastically maintained, very clean toilet block/showers. Plenty of hot water any time of the day. Lovely washing-up facilities and loved the idea every sink has been supplied a cleaning cloth in case you have forgotten yours.
As we have 2 children (7&4) we wanted a pitch close to the playpark and you couldn't get closer than we were, giving the children the independence to explore the park and small meadow.
The park is 5 minutes drive from Morrisons and 15 mins from both Shanklin and Sandown. We felt that the park is perfectly situated for lots of attractions but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. The views from the site are surreal.

We will be booking another holiday for next year as soon as possible.

We visited this site for the first time August 2011 it was our first time on the Isle of Wight. Absolutely pristine site, extremely clean in all areas, fantastic shower blocks, toilet facilities, wardens very friendly and helpful.
Good dog walk and children's play area. Village pub within a short walk offering good meals, real ales etc. Bus stop outside. Just right for Sandown with some superb restaurants.
This has to be one of the best sites around, a credit to the wardens.
We'll be back!

This is a great site. Unfortunately, tents not allowed but has a nice family atmosphere with lots of children and a good play ground.
Pitches are well laid out with hedges separating pitches in the older part of the site. Hardstanding pitches have been done recently and planting hasn't matured yet.
Excellent toilet block with plenty of showers, toilets and wash cubicles. Kept very clean and tidy. Separate washing up and laundry rooms with plenty of sinks so no queues for doing the dishes.
Barrier to enter and exit the site keeps everything nice and secure. Good peaceful surroundings, on outskirts of village. Lots of attractions on Isle of Wight to keep you occupied.
Would definitely visit again if in the area.

One of the nicest sites we have been on, well laid out pretty flowers beds and trees bushes and privacy hedges. Small shop at reception.
Lovely toilet blocks hot showers and never had to queue although site full(duck nesting near ladies when we were there)
Bus stop out side site for open top tour bus to Ryde, garlic farm, local vineyard and craft village we had a nice meal there. Also for a bus to Shanklin, but only two in the day, did hear this could not be running after September but there is a bus stop about 15 minutes walk away at the bottom of the hill at the cross roads, bit of a tow back for us oldies that went to Sandown or Ryde.
A pub down the road but a bit hairy to walk there as no footpaths on any of the roads in the area, but did good food and beer. Would advise a car if visiting IOW to make the most of the island.
Great sitting area to watch the sun go down and a good dog walk.

The only slightly negative with such a new site is no wifi and no tv connections on the ehu bollards although analogue signal is still available for ITV channel and digital is good via own aerial.

We had stayed at this site last year just after the Caravan Club had taken over. On returning this year what a difference! The site as been extended and now has some hard-standing and service pitches.
The facilities have been updated and modified. The children's play area has been moved and is now on the dge of the site. The site re-opened about ten days before the school holidays started and when we visited there were only six units on site!
There is a bus service from outside the site to Shanklin or Ryde and only a short walk to the bus-stop for Sandown or Newport. A local car-hire company can provide a hire car if you don't wish to move your unit whilst on site.

As usual with caravan club sites standard. Very good new showers, no push button jobs, spotless. Some new hard standing pitches. Wardens all ok. Pity the club cant supply good weather but had a few nice days. Would definitely recommend this site. Could do with a bigger play area for children. Pegs were not very firm when knocked in the ground, they became loose when it turned windy and 4 of them came out of ground, they might be better on grass pitches. On one part of site grass pitches seemed to be very close together, not the normal space between them. But overall it is a very nice site

We have visited this site before it was owned by the caravan club. Not a lot changed yet, but the proposals for this site will only improve an already excellent caravan park.
We have visited the Isle of Wight many times, sometimes twice a year staying on different sites, and we have to say that this is our favourite.
The site is very tranquil; six wardens (3 couples) were on site in July. The wardens and staff maintain it to the high standard that you come to expect from a caravan club site. Pitches were not treated between 2008 and 2009 season, previously the grass has been in outstanding condition but this year it looked a little tired, probably due to the previous owner having done the deal with caravan club and decided not to foot the cost of the fertiliser between seasons.
We have only been on Southland out of school summer holidays. There is a small children’s playground in the corner. Not much else to do for kids. If you like a nice quite site where you can hear only the birds sing this is the site for you.
There is a field at the back of the site where you can sit and watch the sunset. There is a dog walk around the perimeter of the site.
Spotlessly clean toilet block with small shower cubicles for which we were told will be refurbished during the closed season.
The Caravan Club have made the pitches bigger. Where there were 6 or 7 pitches in an area there are now only 5. They were a bit squeezed in before
