We chose this site for its close proximity to Alton Towers - which is about 15-20 minutes drive away. We booked the pitch online which enabled us to pick our own pitch. However some of the pitches are now log cabins and it does not show that clearly on the site map- I unintentionally nearly booked one of these cabins but realised something was wrong when a 5 night stay nearly hit the £400 mark!
We found the site quite easily but recommend the sites directions and not tomtoms due to the narrow country lane which tomtom tried to take us down.
Booking in was simple enough and once we had paid our £10 barrier key deposit we were off to find our pitch. No map or layout of the site is given so we just wandered hopefully in the right direction.
The site itself seems to me to be very much a work in progress. There were workmen around all day and as they were building more log cabins there were lots of lorries and vans travelling around the site and not at the 5mph speed limit either! They were also having WiFi installed at the time.
The positives of this site are the play park, the staff are very friendly, there was access to drinking water on the pitch via a tap.
We were very unlucky and due to boiler problems we experienced no hot water for 2 nights in the Showers. Neither was there a mop and bucket to clean up afterwards which left standing water in the cubicle even though there is a notice asking for floors to be mopped after use! The Shop only seemed to stock sweets, chocolates and toys.
There is a local pub called The Queens and we went there for dinner one night. The food was fantastic and they could not do enough to cater for the children's requests.
Perhaps February half term is not the best time to visit this site as most of the pitches seemed to be Seasonal and therefore empty of occupants and for the whole 5 nights we were there we only saw one other caravan and two motorhomes.

Negatives:
Unisex toilets, just feels embarrassing.
Not very private, very close to other tents unless you pay to book surrounding pitches.
Fields 1 and 2 are close to toilets.
Ground is very difficult but not impossible for pegs- it takes longer than usual.
Positives:
Beautiful woods and walks all around, you can feel that you are deep in a forest but still very safe.
Showers and washing-up facilities clean and working.
Nice staff.
Good play park for children.
My advice:
Don't be tempted by fields 1 and 2's proximity to the toilets they are not as nice as the other locations and too near to the main carpark. Either book the pitches either side of you as well, or go with a group next to each other or at the end of a row.
Take a mallet for the pegs. Take insect repelling candles or similar.
Make the most of walking through the woods- they're very brilliant.

My wife and I decided to take our daughter to this campsite for her first try at camping, so we wanted a site that was quite near to home.
The campsite itself was all very clean and tidy, the toilet blocks, shower blocks and washing up areas were all nice and clean. We didn't once worry about our daughter using them.
The play area was good, again seemed to be well looked after and clean, having a childs swing and ordinary swing was a bonus as our daughter wont use anything but swings at the moment.
The only issues we had was that the site isn't particularly well signposted, we missed the turning to where we were camping to start off with, then we didn't know there was a short route to the toilet blocks and walked the long way until another camper told us. And the ground nearly killed all our pegs, I'm not sure if we were just a little unlucky on where our pitch was or they are all very stoney. But neither of these things detracted from the lovely site.
We didn't really leave the site so I cant comment about the surrounding area, but the on site shop seemed pretty good with all the basics, including disposable bbq's.
We would definitely go back to the site again and tell others to go there too, but next time maybe camp in a field a little closer to the toilets etc.

Just back from our visit to Quarry Walk, excellent campsite, we stayed for 3 nights. No complaints, toilets were always clean and no queues for showers and there was always hot water. Plugs in toilets for hair dryer/straightners, which I greatly appreciated, Campsite had a shop which is open 9 till 6. Lovely surrounding, easy to find, our sat nav took us all the way there, not one wrong turn. Only point I would really make is that if you are camping bring extra pegs in case they bend, ground is quite hard but we managed to put them in with the help of a stone. We chose the campsite for its closeness to Alton Towers, would definitely go back if we go again!

The site is down some very narrow lanes and a fair way from any pub/shops etc, so go prepared if you visit here! A local publican will collect and return you to the site if you eat at the pub (details at reception). The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The site itself is very claustrophobic, maybe to be expected given that it was a quarry, but what this does is allow noise to be contained, so if (like us) you are unlucky enough to be close to a hen party in one of the statics, sleep will be difficult to get. I mentioned the noise to one of the wardens when he was cleaning out the unit where the party had been, and he seemed blase about the fact that we had been kept awake.!
The pitches are large and have water and electricity, but they are not level. The toilet blocks were dirty - we stayed for two nights and a squashed fly and muck that was by a washbasin on day one was still there when we left. They are also located a fair way from many of the pitches.
The site has a good playground with a sand surface, but it backs onto a sheer quarry surface that (despite signs) I am sure would tempt adventurous children to climb. Whilst it is for parents to supervise, for safety I feel a fence to the back of the play area is required.

Well after reading all the previous reviews and realising that this is where we had booked I was quite worried, but I have to say that we have had a wonderful weekend (despite some personal setbacks, but that's another story) We found the site lovely and I have to say the staff exceptionally helpful with us as my little girl was not well and they did their utmost to help/advise us.
The site is set in a quarry/woods with inlets for your caravan, decent sized pitches and quite private. The play area was really good, although a bit on the quiet side, however, our daughter eventually made friends and had the time of her life with the resident dog, Jess! The toilets/shower block were lovely, warm and clean. The washing area was outdoors but undercover, so not too bad and they have some beautiful cliff top walks for you to take.
Electric hook up the best we have encountered, nothing tripped, for a change. Although slightly out of the way, plenty to do after a short drive and we had a trip to the Monkey forest, which I would recommend to anyone.
The site has some fantastic plans for the future and will be well worth a visit again. The only down side I would say for us personally was we did encounter quite a view midges, but not not every night. WARNING don't follow your Sat Nav or you will go down some really scarey very small country lanes - follow the sites own directions and you will be fine.

We stayed here for four nights, we had booked five, but got fed up and went home early. We were pitched at the top of the campsite near the reception office. There were either portaloos - which were smelly, or two individual loos in the two showers. The queue for the shower started at about 7am. There were wasps everywhere, the manager's son and one of our neighbours were both stung. You can't drive onto the tent areas, which is a good idea, but a pain when you're unloading or loading.
The campsite is close to Alton Towers
The site looks lovely and is peaceful and very back to nature.

Arrived for a 2 night stay, site clean and tidy I picked my pitch when booking on-line which I thought was great we where right next to the log cabins.
The owner always driving round I suppose making sure everything is ok, I came with my other half and one of my grandchildren the weather was lovely that weekend which I was glad as there is not much to do for children so we was able to sit out and watch him ride his bike.
There is a small playing field for the little ones, there is no shop on site, so do a shop before you arrive, reception does sell basic things but a little costly, you have to pay 5 pound for the barrier key which is returned when you go the barrier was up all through my stay.
Over all a very nice site, clean and tidy and well maintained but a little quite for me.

Booked this trip over the phone discussing the need of a large pitch as the caravan is 26 foot long. The pitch allocated was not big enough!
Was told I would receive an email and details by post which I am still waiting for.
The pitch I was given was small for the length of the van so I was unable to get my car on the pitch.
3 toilets and 3 showers in the ladies for around 50 pitches so times that by 3 persons per pitch. The showers were cold in the morning, luke warm by lunchtime and scalding to the ponit of burning my scalp in the evening. The toilets appear to be cleaned but the very wet tiled floors made it hazardous.
The washing up facilities are the same as showers - when you want hot water there is none. As it is mainly for tents you would think the washing facilities would be good.
Again the barrier was kept up all the weekend and the 5mph speed limit was not adhered to by the staff who drove the white cleaning vans
Shame about the above as the potential in the site is good

We stayed at this site for 2 nights as it is around 10 mins from Alton Towers. I booked our pitch online and decided on field 3 as it looked near the toilets and the play area. Booking in was straightforward and we were given directions to our pitch and told to pitch between the wooden markers. I felt the pitches were on the small side and our small field felt cramped. Our pitch was also very muddy and gravelly. Apart from this the actual park is in a lovely rural area with a very good play area.
There is a barrier system that you pay £5 which is refundable but the whole time we were there the barrier was kept up.
The toilet block that is near the play area is good but the toilets that are near reception were disgusting and the walk into them was hazardous. There is also a family room with a shower and toilet in and also a disabled room near to reception which were ok.
The site is ideal as being so near to Alton Towers but the toilets near to our field let this site down.
