We have just returned from a fab weekend at this site. A small group of us (4 tents) camped in the lower tent field. Very sheltered by the birch trees which was a welcome relief from the blistering sun. Bit of a hike to the toilets but they were very clean, as were the showers. Nice to have bins provided close to the pitching area and the picnic benches were a bonus.

First camping trip with a tent for me. My boyfriend has been camping several times - my only experience of camping under canvas was when I was younger in the South of France. My first experience of camping was great. The proprietors of the Quarry Bank are very friendly and helpful; the site itself is set in some beautiful countryside - lots of walks; the site is clean and the toilet/showers very clean. We are now planning our next trip and we will definitely be returning to Quarry Bank

A group of us selected this site for a bank holiday get away. I have to admit that the site wasn't our first choice, but as we had left it a bit late to start booking, this seemed to offer most of the things we wanted (location wise).
The site is relatively remote, down a single track road for about 1 to 2 miles, this means that things like pubs and reasonable sized shops are a few miles away, probably by car. The site does have a small shop at reception with a selection of the basics.
We were pitched on the first small field by reception. When we arrived we pretty much had the choice of where to pitch (no marked pitches) but it was a tough choice as the ground was very boggy and puddle ridden in a few places though bearing in mind that May had been pretty wet that may account for some if it. As the name suggests, its a former quarry, with a few steep cliffs about the place, which might be worth taking into consideration if you have children. The stand pipe on the field also seemed to have an intermittent supply of fresh water, which we never did quite figure out why, but never caused us any great problems.
The facilities for the top field were quite lacking. The closest facilities were a single toilet / washbasin / shower all in one room, so if someone was having a shower, a queue formed for the loo. Timing was everything to ensure you didn't end up in a queue of 5 or 6 waiting for this single facility. There were other facilities on the site, but we were informed they were a good walk away, and we never ventured looking for them.
The site seems to be tailoring itself more towards statics and holiday lodges. It is relatively close to Alton Towers theme park, so if you are looking to take a break up there, and need some peace and quiet away from the park, then the site wasn't too bad.
In general, not a bad site, but also not a great site. Adequate would describe it well from a campers point of view.

A very attractive site set in woodland and only a short drive from Alton Towers. We were lucky enough to have the small tent field to ourselves which was sheltered and well drained. The shower/ toilet was clean and well maintained. The site owners were friendly and helpful.

May 2005 Lovely site. Friendly owners. Very clean, warm shower and toilet facilities. Nice little shop on site - sells just the basics to keep you going but Cheadle only 5mins away by car for your Friday Big Shop! There are some beautiful walks around the site but be warned it is a quarry and there are some pretty big drops...
Definitely worth a re-visit.

May 2005 Just got back from spending a lovely bank holiday at Quarry Walk, what a super site! So peaceful and relaxing. Clean toilets and showers had lashings of hot water. Great walks in the woods, rabbits, squirrels and birds all around. Rhododendron bushes and blankets of bluebells looked very pretty at this time of year! Plenty of artistic photo opportunities. Will definitely be back again and just recommended to some friends already.

May 2005 We stayed here over the May Bank holiday and given that it was the only campsite in the area with pitches available we were pleasantly surprised. The tenting fields are away from the caravan areas and are very natural. No regimented pitches. We stayed in the top tenting field which was in a copse of beautiful silver birches - especially when the sun went down. We were a stones throw from the (clean)toilet and hot shower near reception. The kids (7 from 2-12 in our group) had a wonderful time making dens in the trees and loved the sandy play area down in the caravan area. It was a little bit far from the tent field but worth the walk. The kids got filthy but it was a perfect weekend for them!!! The campsite managers were friendly and accommodating - would recommend this campsite!

July 2004 This is such a quiet tranquil site. Each caravan has a screened pitch and must feel secluded. The tent bit we pitched on was near the entrance and we had use of the toilet and shower there. It looked like they were having this extended. It was clean, and loads of loo roll and soap and papertowels. It was a fair walk down to the other toilet block with the dish washing facility but I guess they will incorporate this in the new building.
We felt totally relaxed here even after being at Alton Towers (which is very expensive).
Would stay here again if we are in the area.

June 2004 This site is great for anyone wanting a stay in a natural environment. Though it seems mainly to cater for caravans there are several large grassy areas reserved for tents. Don't let the fact that it is an old quarry put you off - the camping areas are quite soft with no problems re stoney ground! The site has an abundance of trees, silver birch, broom, dog rose, with the odd oak and beech here and there. There are quite extensive nature walks which are great for kids. The quarry is very much returned to nature and quite beautiful. Toilets and showers are quite a walk from the tent areas but are very modern and clean and pleasant to use. Looking forward to another visit.

May 2004 Can only agree with what others have said about this site. Just spent a couple of nights at Quarry Walk camping with friends. We had one of the camping areas to ourselves and plenty of room. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless, with hot controllable showers. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, watching the many rabbits, and also taking a walk around the site. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
Quarry Walk is situated in a lovely area of the Staffordshire countryside, amid quiet lanes, rolling hills and bluebell filled woods.
Would definitely visit again. Total relaxation. Thank you Quarry Walk - I needed that!
