We choose this site due to the access to Alton towers, the reviews it had and the bad reviews of other sites in area. We found it easy to find, and very welcoming, the site was quite and rather empty but that was to be expected for time of year. The toilets were very clean and heated and were cleaned every day.The washing area was nice but could have more sinks as only two, the play area was good fun for the kids as it was not the normal swing and slide set you tend to get. I liked how there were bins all over so you could put your rubbish away without having to walk a long way. And there was a one way rule on site for car which was helpful for the kids. The kids loved going night walking and looking for wildlife on the site.
The lack of signal on mobile phones is a problem but once off site there is signal. We found this good as no one could bother us so we could have quality family time.
This is site we WILL be coming back to and I have recommend it to every one I know.

Stayed at quarry walk for 2 days, the campsite itself as said by many is hard to find and off the beaten track but is easily found with a sat nav, and mobile phones do not pick up a signal past the reception area (if you have a teenager that relies on their mobile as much as their right arm, then brace yourself for lots of mood swings, because you wont get a signal for most of your stay).
The park was kept clean and tidy despite the rain! The caravan itself was very pleasant and easily slept 4 adults. The shower block was kept clean and tidy and i cannot praise the staff enough! I went to report a problem with our caravan at reception and before i even got back to the pitch the maintenance man was at the caravan fixing the problem! This site is definitely ideal for those that wish to visit alton towers theme park which is approx 5 miles from quarry walk. The nearest town is approx 4 miles from quarry walk with a 24 hour tesco store situated on a retail park. I would give the site 10 out of 10 for all its efforts and staff were always happy to help or advise, the prices are competitive and the facilities definitely served the purpose of my visit which was to visit alton towers theme park!

We stayed here for one night at the end of August and will Definitely stay here again!
It was a lovely site full of nature and in complete stillness and tranquillity, granted that Tent field 2 (where we were) only had us and two other tents on it.
The tent pitches appeared to be spaced quite well although we asked to change ours as it was very muddy and on a slant but that was no problem. They aren't the biggest pitches but roomy enough and we do have quite a large tent!
The shower and toilet block were cleaned every day, two or three times a day so every time we went it was lovely, also lovely and warm! From field 2 the toilets were about a 2 minute walk and from the bottom field I would say about a 4-5minute walk, not too far with plenty to look at.
The site owners are incredibly friendly and helped us with local places to eat - the Raddle inn is much more relaxed than the Queens with ok pub grub - most is deep fried/microwaved but if like us you're not a fan of that they do a great jacket spud!
We only have one criticism, this being that in the woodland walk (within the borders of the campsite) there was quite a bit of litter - not loads but enough for us to notice, if this was removed it would be perfect.
Will definitely stay here again, a 10 min drive to alton towers and a 20 minute walk to the pub - or 10 minutes if, like me, in the dark in the country your imagination goes wildly scary!

We chose this campsite because it is close to Alton Towers. It is a picturesque and quiet site with a barrier that is closed at 11 to avoid late cars waking campers. The directions were a little misleading but we found it without too much trouble.
When we booked in we were given vague directions, camp rules and an apology for the mud. I don't blame the owners for the mud - they had attempted to remedy this by laying gravel, but they should have cut back some of the overhanging bushes on the narrow track down to avoid scraping cars. The site is spread out on three layers with no warning about the long walk to the toilet block from the bottom layer which was 4 minutes all uphill, not brilliant in the middle of the night. This also made me reluctant to wander far into the bushes around the camp as listening to surrounding conversations in the early morning they seemed to be the local toilet - certainly for the men!
We found the water tap for ourselves and scouted around and found the ‘short’ cut to the toilet block ourselves without even a hint that it existed. We didn’t even see the advertised play area and must take their word that there is one.
There were two adequate shower rooms, one disabled access, but each was for single use. I counted upwards of 20 tents on one morning just on my walk through the site and two showers were not enough. The toilet block was a portacabin. The Men's only had one stall in it so more waiting for them. There was no separate washing-up sink so people were using the sink in the Women's which cut down even more on limited space.
The other campers were a mixture of families and groups and we did not experience any trouble with loud neighbours. However some people resorted to driving up to the toilet which meant early and late traffic.
It takes a lot to upset us - we expect to rough it when camping - but because of advertised facilities on the website and lack of warning we expected more and consequently feel cheated.
This site has potential if the owners put in more showers, toilets and washing-up facilities. Communication could also be improved, as we were understandably out before nine in the morning and back after six the reception always seemed to be shut and this meant asking questions, such as directions to Alton Towers was not possible.
If we go back to this area we will choose a different campsite, even if it means travelling a little further.

I stayed at this park for a week.
Well off the main roads, so follow instructions exactly, especially if towing. Good for Alton Towers and other tourist destinations. Adequate shopping in Cheadle, 4 miles.
The site is well laid out and reasonably well maintained. Good children's adventure play area. But Public facilities , WC, washroom and shower are extremely disappointing.
Gents had only 2 wc and 3 shower for the whole site. Ladies 3 and 3. (There were additional two units near reception for disabled and family use)
This was woefully inadequate for the site during busy periods, and resulted in a serious overuse of the facilities. They were clean, but needing refurbished and lacked maintenance. Toilets difficult to flush, often left un-flushed. Showers with only a trickle of water - useful actually as the drain was blocked. In the ladies unit, one shower head would not remain in position and one was broken all together.
All of this was reported to staff, but no action before we left.
Frankly, at the site fees charged, one expects decent services and these were below generally accepted public standard.

We booked Quarry walk online, 2 week prior to our stay on 19th July. Found it a little bit difficult to locate but arrived eventually.
Had a panic on arrival when they did not recognise our booking despite having paid a deposit. Once located, we were booked in quickly by the friendly owners. We'd booked for our motorhome and a small tent.
We were allocated a generous plot with electric hook up near the log cabins which was quite a way down the 1 way system, and a bit of a walk to the toilet block, which was adjacent to the children's playing fields.
The toilet block was basic but clean and tidy. The showers were adequate - warm but the flow was poor.
We chose Quarry Walk due to its close locality to Alton Towers which was an approx 10 min drive. On arrival back to the camp site on both evenings, manoeuvring the camper around the corner at the end of the campsite proved difficult due to the parked cars.
The campsite was lovely and quiet, had 2 peaceful nights there, and would definitely consider a return in future.
We went to the 'Queens' pub and restaurant which was a short drive along the lane. The meal we had was lovely, not a typical pub menu, and a excellent choice of meals. The staff were more than happy to allow our 3 children in at 8.30pm. We would definitely recommend this place to eat, and recomend booking as it does get busy.

Stayed at Quarry Walk at the beginning of August as was visiting Alton Towers for the weekend.
The site was in the middle of a forest and the local supermarket was about three miles away.
Arrived on the Friday afternoon and was told to go to a specified pitch. The site had a barrier system. On arrival the pitch was at the bottom end of the site. Every pitch had its on water point which was good as you didn't have to keep filling the Aquaroll up. The pitch didn't seem that big and only just managed to get the car on the pitch once the awning had gone up.
Took a bit to find the toilets (which were opposite the play park). These were not good at all. They were never cleaned while we were there (Friday to Sunday). By the end of the weekend they stank, floors were wet (with mud on the floors) and it never rained while we were there. They need serious upgrade and for the size of the site there were only three showers for the whole park. By the Sunday I gave up trying to have a shower as couldn't stand the smell.
There are quite a few seasonal pitches on there and they seem to very flexible about what they can have on their pitch. Some had their own grass with fences, flower pots and decking. Quite a few people were up late and you could hear them until the early hours of the morning. I find this annoying as I would never do this as it is unfair. I asked on the phone and on the day I arrived if it would be possible to leave the caravan on site while visiting Alton Toweres on the Sunday. I said I would pay and they said they would be helpful in doing this as someone was coming on the pitch. We had to be off at 12:00 so they said come in on the Sunday and they would see what they could do. I went up on the morning and asked and they just said no and I asked if the pitch was still being taken up. They said yes but didn't even check in the book while answering the question. I got the impression once they had your money they were not bothered. I wouldn't mind but lots of people left on the Sunday so there was room. I would have paid. Anyway I took the caravan to Alton Towers and they were happy to have it there. Even managed to get a free car park ticket in the end as went to the water park. Parked in the car park and the caravan was fine. Locked it all up before I left and when I came back it was fine.
When I go back to Alton Towers will be looking at what other sites are available.

Just returned from two nights weekend camping at this site. Lovely situation and surroundings, but the facilities for campers were a bit limited.
We seemed to be in a overspill tent field. The nearest toilets (2 x bathroom set ups and a porta-cabin with toilets / sinks) were a 5 minute walk away up a narrow unlit muddy track, next to reception. The weather was wet so the field was churned up a lot as people were driving to the toilets. The majortiy of the campers were groups of young people / teenagers who were unable to pitch tents properly off to Alton Towers for the day - noise late at night, and early in the morning. There were a couple of small tent areas near to reception - but you'd have to book early to get there. No facilities for washing up. The one shower I did have was nice and hot.
There was an additional toliet block a 3/4 minute walk from reception (a 5 minute walk from us), with a few showers etc, and a couple of washing up sinks (only to be used at non peak shower times tho!) - but only the caravanners had the code for the barriers - so you had to walk to it rather than drive, so not an option for washing up!
We picked it also as it had a kids play area - but we didn't get there as this would have been a 10 minute walk to get there - so not good for a three year old.
All in all a good site if you were a caravanner - the pitches looked lovely or wanted a close base for Alton Towers (we didn't go) but its not a site we would return to. I felt that weekend campers were treated as an afterthought as the owner had a spare field.

Very nice camp site. Situated in the middle of nowhere and would be very difficult to find without a sat nav!
Staff where brilliant and lovely and friendly, the shop on site is based within reception and sells only the essentials which are reasonably priced.
There are a number of different parts to this site but the field we stayed in had lovely scenery and great atmosphere from the other campers, there was even goal posts in the field for everyone to use which was good!
Another bonus is that the local take aways will delivery to the site.
Reasonably priced and would certainly use again.

Spent the day at alton towers on fri and stayed in the campsite on the friday night, before we had put the tent up,we deceided to stay on sat night aswell as the campsite was wonderful. Lovely little pitch with great scenary. Toilet blocks / showers are a 5 min walk away. They are also situated in the same room, and next too each other. However they were clean and free. The office has a wide range of booklets on days out in the area. Overall we are delighted that we found this campsite and have all ready booked a short stay there in july.
