Friendly site, seemed well organised. We were there over a very busy weekend with glorious weather, and the facilities seemed to cope OK. All pitches are sort-of marked, so you are shown where you can camp and how much space you can use up. No electric hook-up anywhere on the site, so it was mostly campers.

Nice location off the road, with views of the sea. In the area we camped, the ground is very stony and we had real difficulty in getting pegs in deep enough and secure enough; fortunately we had brought some thick plastic pegs and these did the job better than any of our metal ones. The whole site might not be like this, though; don't know. No shop, but 5-10 minutes walk there is a very nice village shop/cafe which is well stocked.

The campsite runs a freezer block system using their own blocks (£1 deposit each, 20p a freeze). Always quiet at night. There did seem to be a lot of dogs on this site; maybe other local sites don't allow them? We felt rather conspicuous without one.

A good place to walk and cycle from, as you are right on the coastal path (good CoastHopper bus for getting one way) and there are good cycle lanes slightly inland (good map from Tourist Information centres locally for £2. 50).

We had a flat battery as we left the site, and the owners lent us jump leads and brought their car around to start ours; beyond the call of duty. We would certainly commend to others and return again some day. A little more expensive than some places, at least when we were there as it still counted as mid-season.

Rang the day before arriving but site was full, advised to try again the following morning, tried again next day and space was available. Owner / warden very friendly on arrival and showed us to our pitch with great view across the marshes.

On the second day a north wind picked up and we had to park our van across the front of the tent and tie tent to the van. Several people moved that evening. After a very windy night we were able to move to a sheltered pitch by the toilet block alas no view.

Given the price £25 a night for 2 Adults and 2 Children over 5, we felt the facilities could be better. The toilet block appeared to be cleaned by 2 blokes who turned up mid morning for a couple of hours, rather than the owner / warden. Only the bare minimum of cleaning was done which is shame.

In summary the location of the site is great, warden friendly and helpful, but toilet block needs a proper clean and then it would be worth the price.

We were able to book and get in easily.

Lovely couple running the site who were very helpful.

Brilliant toilet/shower block which was clean, well planned out with oodles of hot hot water. Which we needed in this wet July.

Only thing is bring cash or cheques as they do not take cards of any sort!

Fantastic location in a lovely village on the coast.

A net work of foot paths lead to both the mud flats and sandy littoral as well as inland to a lovely local pub and a well stocked village stores who serve a coffee too.

The location of this site would be really stunning in decent weather. We stayed through two horrible days of weather, so stormy would be more descriptive than stunning. However if you can't cope with the weather UK camping probably isn't your thing! The proximity to the marshes can't be faulted, and our kids (3 and 5) would have slept out there crabbing line in hand if we'd let them.

The toilet block and washing up room were well set up, and had lashings of hot water (particularly appreciated in the horrid weather).

We know this part of the coast well, so pottered around taking in many of the usual activities and a few new ones (Crabbing, dinner at Wiveton Fruit Farm, crabbing, walking across the marshes, crabbing, beaches and Dinosaur Adventure when the rain started to get to us).

We stayed during half term (the Jubilee week) and the site was packed. Pitches were rigidly marked out which is a little regimented for me. This is just a style preference. There were groups, but noise wasn't an issue from them, so all was well.

Brilliant location. Overlooking the marshes and views of seals (with binoculars!) on the far sandbanks. We did huge walks each day and as usual for us, relied on the fantastic Coasthopper bus service to get back to the site (request to stop at the bottom of the lane).

It was high tide this weekend making for unusual Norfolk scenery, well worth a trip to Blakeney to see the tide and enjoy the local sport of 'who's left their car in the car park'!

The owners were helpful and friendly when we arrived, let us choose our pitch and requested ones were clearly marked. Even when we put our tent up in the wrong way (accidentally a bit on someone else's pitch) the owner wasn't too bothered as the site wasn't full and told us not to go to the bother of shifting it. Fellow campers were also friendly, clearly many go back year on year, understandably so.

The toilet block was clean and well maintained and although the showers were hot they could do with being hotter (adjustable?)and staying on for longer (push button) - it was a cold weekend and I never felt too warm after having showered! Some of the showers were locked and I wasn't too sure why so although we never queued I wondered if the shower facilities would cope during busier times.

Would we go again? Most definitely. It's a great spot, has friendly owners and fellow campers and was peaceful with great views. Not much more to ask for really!

We've stayed at this site a number of times and rank it as our favourite place along this stretch of the coast.

It is a nice flat campsite with lovely views over the marshes, and has very good facilities which are centrally located on the site. The people who run it are also very friendly and helpful, and this place definitely offers good value for money.

The location is excellent as there are fantastic coastal walks in either direction, and there are bus stops and a great pub within a few minutes' walk.

We have been using this site for about 6 years, and absolutely love it. Came across it after reading a review which described it as very 'swallows and amazons' which it is.

The simplicity is what appeals to us (family of 4, 8 and 13yr old girls)

The first year we were there, my youngest who was 3 at the time kept asking to go to the 'park' which was actually a few rope swings fixed into the line of trees that separate the camp site from the marshes, not a single piece of coloured play equipment in sight, but just good old back to nature playing like we did when we were kids!

The walks out over the marshes are a must, just check the tide times which are displayed in the site hut daily.

The wardens are so helpful and friendly.

There is a freezer block hire service which is really useful as the site has no EHU pitches.

Pitch sizes are really generous, but there is a lot of stony ground under the grass, as other reviewers have mentioned. Take extra pegs and a wooden mallet!

There is a plug socket in the Laundry wash area, which can be used for hairdryers, and for pumping up airbeds. The site hut offers a recharging service for a great price of 20p for each item, mobiles/laptops/cameras/ipods etc.

The local area is stunning, Holkham beach has to be visited, you can also park in the grounds of Holkham Hall for £2. 50 per day, and picnic amongst the deer that roam freely. A great and cheap day out.

Wells next the Sea is a charming little town, with lots of little shops selling all the things that you may have forgotten to pack. The hardware stores are amazingly stocked!

In the main high street you will also find a fantastic fruit and veg shop, bakers, and butchers. Additionally in nearby Blakeny there is a very good spar shop, which is probably better priced than the Leftleys in Wells.

I cannot fault this site, there are groups of families that have been visiting this site for 30+ years, and I honestly think in 25yrs time, we will be in that category too. :-)

Good location next to Norfolk Coastal Path and Salt Marshes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid £20 per night. We hadn't booked but were given a decent pitch near to toilet block.

There was no problem with noise from the toilet block. Our pitch was very flat as were most.

We ate at the Red Lion which was a lovely pub with decent food but with a smell of drains on the decking outside. We walked with our young children along the coast to Wells and returned on the very convenient coast hopper bus.

Next to the campsite is a narrow area of trees where the children spent much of their time playing. Beyond that are the salt marshes. We had a lovely day on the marshes. We put the children in their wetsuits and let them get covered head-to-toe in mud. Fun was had!

The downsides were due to the site being too busy - this being the school holidays. The water for showers was barely a trickle, it was quicker to spit on yourself!

There was no soap at the sinks. The freeze-pack freezing service was obviously struggling to cope as they ran out of freeze packs a couple of times and in the end restricted the times you could go to change them.

There was quite a lot of noise in the evenings, just from one or two large groups. Everyone else was quiet, so I imagine it is usually a quiet site.

We chose this site for its location, and we weren't disappointed. It is adjacent to the beautiful salt marshes, with waves crashing in the distance, and coastal footpath to Wells Next the Sea 3m approx. In one direction and Morston in the other. We didn't actually get to either as it was a short visit to practice putting our awning up, but we will definitely be returning to explore further.

You can walk to a good pub, shop, and catch the coast hopper bus, on which you can even take your dog apparently. Despite it taking us ages to get the pegs into the hard ground, very stony in places, and the very strong wind off the sea, the awning went up well.

The toilets and showers are clean and tidy. The wash-up room is great, plenty of hot water, and there is a laundry room. I would have liked to be able to dry my hair, but there are no dryers, sockets or hook ups.

The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. You can recharge batteries, freeze blocks etc. It's a basic, quiet site adjacent to a working farm with some flat and some sloping pitches.

We are new to camping and felt very happy with our first experience at this site.

My husband hired a 1972 VW Campervan for the weekend as my birthday present. I chose this site after looking at the reviews and I have to say we were not disappointed. Excellent welcome from the friendly staff, we were given a choice of pitches and were shown promptly to our chosen pitch.

As highlighted in other reviews the campsite is in a great position, down a farm track, away from any road noise.

Plus points for us were as follows

1. Just next to saltmarsh, great for crabbing and birding.

2. On bus route to local resorts. Don't need to use the car.

3. Good pub and village stores 10 mins. Walk down farm tracks.

4. Coastal path on doorstep.

5. Seal trips nearby.

Plenty of opportunity for the children to play games, cycle, climb trees etc.

Toilet facilities were good as were showers.

Probably my best birthday present ever!
